Grünerløkka is the place to be.
Through Oslo, from north to south, runs the river Akerselva. Along the river there are parklands and walking trails, but also remains of Oslo’s industrial history.
On the east side of the river, in the area of Grünerløkka you will discover numerous of hip restaurants, crowded bars, little cafés and shops with only 5-10 minutes walking distance from the apartment. Grunerløkka has a youthful embossing with young people and a chill attitude, art, culture, music and other activities.
Grünerløkka is also a popular shopping district, with original design shops and many vintage and second-hand stores.
When the sun casts its shine over the various parks, they are filled with youths drinking, making barbecues, playing music or just enjoying life. Birkelunden, Sofienbergparken, Olav Ryes plass, Grünerhagen or by the river Akerselva are some nice places to sit down and enjoy life or meet locals.
There is a Minimarket just a cross the street, open from 8 o’clock until 12 pm, and a bigger Supermarket is just a 3 min walk away.
The trams that departure frequently, takes you from Oslo Central Station directly to the apartment in only 11min + 4 min walk and you are there. Bus nr 21 to Aker Brygge stops just around the corner (90 meters) and the tram stop (nr 11, 12 and 13) is as mentioned a 4 minute walk away. The tram takes you back to Oslo Centre in 11 min and also to all main sightseeing spots such as the Opera, the Royal Castle, Oslo Centre, Frogner Park and Munch Museeum etc.
In Grünerløkka you can walk everwhere and discover alot within only 5-20min Walking distance.
Other Things to Note
Please note that the stairs to the loft is quite steep and the height of the ceiling at the loft is a bit low.
I want you to feel like you are in a hotel room. But please:
- Leave your shoes in the hall.
- No smoking inside.
- Cleaning is included, but please leave the place in good condition.
We stayed in this cosy little flat for our two days in Oslo. Great location with easy access to all of the sights. A lovely, personal touch from Magnus made this place fell like home.
Magnus has a great apartment! He provided great details on directions, restaurants, and things to do/see. The apartment is very well kept and clean, albeit a little small it was great for two people who were looking to be out and about exploring Oslo! The neighborhood is great, we were able to go for run from the front door and immediately be on paths and in parks all around the city. Be sure to take a picture on his iPad so you can see all the other fun people who have been guests as well!
He left a very detailed description about everything I needed to know included places to visit in Oslo and restaurants to eat at.
Magnus place was clean and well kept as well as being close to Grunerlokka which is a great place to hang out in. a hassle free experience!
From the very first e-mail to the final arrangements of our arrival and departure, Magnus was very friendly, helpful and quick in responding. He also sent us a long e-mail with lots of information about Oslo and tipps where to go out to eat or have drinks. We stayed at the apartment for 3 days and it never took us long to get to all the sights. Besides, the area around the flat is also very nice with lots of bars and restaurants.
The apartment itself is small (it was fine for two people, but I guess it could be difficult to manage with more than two) but clean and well-equipped. However, the disadvantage is that the window cannot be opened.
Still, Magnus is a very nice host and tries to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
The house was compact but really clean, organized and has everything that you might need. The best part is that it took us 25 min walking to reach the center. I would defenitely stay there again.
Ricapitolando: ok per due per un periodo limitato (max 5-7 gg) [Magnus' apartment is located in one of Oslo's most teeming with life. There are many cafes , supermarkets and shops . It is also served by three tram lines ( 11 , 12 and 13 ) very frequently and never crowded leading into downtown in minutes . It's possible to access to the apartment directly from the sidewalk and objectively the flat is really small and really perfect for two people ; we were three and we had some problems. If you want to eat inside you have to organize yourselves on the couch because there is not a table but only a shelf , underneath the staircase leading to the loft , which is barely fine for two . The major disadvantage is the lack of an opening window ( the one you see in the picture is fixed ) . Positive things: the house offers all the comforts from microwave to washing machine . There's even a tablet to surf the Internet easily . Recap: ok for two for a limited period (maximum 5-7 days).]

About the Host, Magnus
I just love to travel but sometimes, like now, when I don’t have time to travel this will be a good opportunity to meet travelers coming to Oslo. After all, the most exciting thing about traveling is to meet people from different cultures and different countries. I love to be active and do many different sports. Climbing, golf, tennis and snowboarding is the once I have closets to my heart. I’m also a bit into music and manage a rock band where I also am the singer and guitarist. We play mostly covers, the song everybody knows and can sing along with.
I currently work within the IT-sector with collaboration such as CISCO videoconferencing, telephony and other collaboration solutions.
I am born (1982) and raised in Stockholm back in, Sweden and have been living in Oslo since 2010. I have bachelor in Global Business and been living abroad for studies in Austria, Graz and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Feel free to ask me anything, I quite open minded and if you want to have any recommendations about what to do or see in Oslo I’m glad to help.
I am always happy and outgoing and I invite everybody that like to make the most out of life, peolpe that likes to enjoy the moment.
My life motto is to be happy and treat everybody with great respect.
