This clean, adorable basement studio apartment is situated in the hip Woodlawn neighborhood of NE Portland in a lovely 1915 bungalow. The apartment is completely private and the entrance is directly off of the sidewalk so you can easily roll your bags right in and there is plenty of free street parking.
It has a queen bed with a heavenly heated mattress pad, a comfortable futon, fully stocked kitchen with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and grinder, a stove, oven, etc).
The private bathroom features a shower with a nubby river rock-tile floor, laundry, a silent heat panel, hair dryer, a shaving mirror and a very large wall mirror.
The luxurious electric fireplace has an adjustable thermostat for those fall and winter nights where you'd like to snuggle in front of the 'fire' with a hot beverage. And don't forget, there is a big park just a block from your door for your morning jog or an impromptu picnic, weather permitting. Every summer they host different monthly events. While the area is definitely an urban one, the apartment is very private with your own entrance and some storage for your items.
If you are traveling without a car, there are nearby Zipcar locations, an Everybody Bike Rentals, and Ebikes, a place to rent electric bikes!
Also the busline is just two blocks south of the house and the MAX line is not far.
Coming in from the airport? The Woodlawn District is 10 minutes away from PDX airport and 5 from the freeway. Also, getting to downtown is an easy 15 minute drive. If you have bikes or many items to bring, or would just prefer, I can gladly come get you from the airport or train station in my mini van for $25.
It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine:
-Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service
-Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching
-Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game
-ReViva, a funky resale shop for gifts, jewelry, furniture, music
-Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back and late night too
-P's & Q's Market serves meals and some grocery items
-The Village Ballroom, Zumba, Square Dancing &Ecstatic Dance

-Alchemy Cafe, good smoothies, burgers and breakfasts
And definitely check out the unique McMennamins Kennedy School for a beer, pizza and a movie. They are in the Concordia neighborhood, adjacent to Woodlawn.
The infamous Alberta Arts District is just 5 (driving) minutes or 15 walking minutes south. It's fantastically entertaining on the 'Last Thursday (of the month's) Art Walk' with anything from fire dancers and stilt walkers to live DJs and dancin' in the street! It's got some cute boutiques, bars, bakeries and an unusually large number of Thai restaurants for one street. Vegans can enjoy the Bye and Bye for dinner and drinks or the Vita Cafe which is great for breakfast. Alberta Street also features the crazy popular Salt & Straw Ice Cream joint...I'm too afraid to go myself. I hardly need to cater to my ice cream addiction. Nonetheless,, I am always happy to make suggestions as I do have plenty of opinions;)
And if you'd like to do some cooking, the neighborhood P's & Q's Market carries some groceries and there are 2 New Season grocery stores just minutes away as well as Safeway, Fred Meyers (Krogers) and the Alberta Street Co-op. All of these are easily accessible by bus as,again, it's just 2 blocks away.
Up to two more guests can be accommodated for an additional $14 per person/per night. The innerspring futon sofa in the studio does make out to a comfortable bed for two.

Had a great first experience. Andree was a great host, the place was exactly as it is listed and the location is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about our experience. 5 stars
Fantastic. Totally cute and well-thought-out artsy studio apartment. Loved every intricate detail as it created a really homey cozy feeling. :D Andree was very sweet and flexible with meeting us when we arrived. We were pretty busy with a conference and meeting friends but loved being able to have a little "home" to be at. I would totally love to venture back to Portland and the Woodlawn neighborhood again. Thank you. Thank you!
We had a great time staying at this place. It was very cozy, cute, and well decorated. It had everything we needed and then some. Staying here made us feel like we were part of Portland. We easily walked to some very cool restaurants and bars and people in the neighborhood were incredibly friendly. We rented a car and had no problem running around Portland and then getting back to the apartment. Highly recommended.
The apartment was indeed a warm and cozy place to come home to after daily Portland outings. Everything was clean and nicely decorated, just as the pictures showed. Andree was a lovely host- a wonderful person to be greeted by on our first day in Portland. The Woodlawn neighborhood is cute and low key but we had no trouble getting to Alberta or downtown when we wanted to do some people watching. Overall great experience :)
Quiet neighborhood, walking distance to resturants and market. Andree has made this apartment totally Eco-friendly and comfy. I'm usually not fond of basement apartments, but this one was warm and dry, not a trace of musty odor or dampness. I would definitely stay in this or another of Andree's properties next time we are in Portland. She is a very attentive and considerate inn keeper.
Staying at Andree's was great! She gave us a great overview of the space and was responsive throughout the process.
It was a nice, comfy place to come back to during cold, rainy Portland days.
We couldn't have been happier with Andree's space and hospitality. She met us with extremely late in the day to let us in and show us around. The apartment was unique and well appointed. Cozy is the perfect description for it.
The Woodlawn area is nice and growing neighborhood with some great restaurants and bars in walking distance. I would be happy to stay there again.
Andree had an absolutely adorable basement apartment set up for us and was completely hospitable. She was flexible about our dog, which was a huge help. It had all of the amenities, a private bathroom, and lots of menus and suggestions for local eateries and activities. I want to decorate my house to look like this cute apartment. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.
Very welcoming, very helpful! Thoughtfully decorated, cozy & comfy bed, hot shower and a kitchen - all private and tucked away from the rest of the house, you don't feel like you're imposing at all! I would recommend anyone to stay with Andree!
Our host Andree was wonderful We changed our meeting time from 4:00 in the afternoon to 10:00 in the evening and she was very accommodating, which we appreciated. She took time to show us the workings of the apartment and how everything operated, which we also appreciated.
