Description

The Space

This clean, adorable basement studio apartment is situated in the hip Woodlawn neighborhood of NE Portland in a lovely 1915 bungalow. The apartment is completely private and the entrance is directly off of the sidewalk so you can easily roll your bags right in and there is plenty of free street parking. While not endowed with high ceilings, it's definitely high on charm!
It has a queen bed with a heavenly heated mattress pad, a comfortable Innerspring futon, fully stocked kitchen with fridge and freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and grinder, a stove, oven, etc).

The private bathroom features a shower with a nubby river rock-tile floor, laundry, a silent heat panel, hair dryer, a shaving mirror and a very large wall mirror.

The luxurious electric fireplace has an adjustable thermostat for those fall and winter nights where you'd like to snuggle in front of the 'fire' with a hot beverage. And don't forget, there is a big park just a block from your door for your morning jog or an impromptu picnic, weather permitting. Every summer they host different monthly events. While the area is definitely an urban one, the apartment is very private with your own entrance and some closet storage for your items.

If you are traveling without a car, there are nearby Zipcar locations, Car2go available, or you can sign up with Getaround.
For two wheeled options: Everybody Bike Rentals, Upcycles, and Ebikes, a place to rent electric bikes!
Also the busline is just two blocks south of the house and the MAX line is not far. Check out Trimet website for scheduling.

Coming in from the airport? The Woodlawn District is 10 minutes away from PDX airport and 5 from the freeway. Also, getting to downtown is an easy 15 minute drive.

It's within a 5 minute walk from the heart of Woodlawn which has some fantastic spots to shop, drink, dance, and dine:
-Firehouse Restaurant, somewhat romantic with good service
-Woodlawn Coffee House, for plenty of people watching
-Breakside Brewery, to grab a bite and catch up on the game
-Bushwhacker's Cidery, the newest addition to the neighborhood
-Good Neighbor Pizza, laid back and late night too
-P's & Q's Market serves meals and some grocery items
-Tamale Boy, for a quick bite, indoor and outdoor
- Bassoto Gelato, 12 rotating flavors
-The Village Ballroom, Events, Square Dancing
-Upcycles, some new bikes, rentals & repairs
-Koken Market, for almost any beer you want, snacks
-Café Eleven, art, coffee, lunch & some gluten free pastries
-Oregon Public House, the nation's 1st nonprofit pub
-High Water Mark, bar w/ pool table, Karaoke on Tuesdays
-(Seasonally) Woodlawn Farmer's Market at Woodlawn School, Sat. 10-2

And definitely check out the unique McMennamins Kennedy School for a beer, pizza and a movie. They are in the Concordia neighborhood, adjacent to Woodlawn.

The infamous Alberta Arts District is just 5 (driving) minutes or 15 walking minutes south. It's fantastically entertaining on the 'Last Thursday (of the month's) Art Walk' with anything from fire dancers and stilt walkers to live DJs and dancin' in the street! It's got some cute boutiques, bars, bakeries and an unusually large number of Thai restaurants for one street. Vegans can enjoy the Bye and Bye for dinner and drinks or the Vita Cafe which is great for breakfast. Alberta Street also features the crazy popular Salt & Straw Ice Cream joint...I'm too afraid to go myself. I hardly need to cater to my ice cream addiction. Nonetheless,, I am always happy to make suggestions as I do have plenty of opinions;)

And if you'd like to do some cooking, the neighborhood P's & Q's Market carries some groceries and there are 2 New Season grocery stores just minutes away as well as Safeway, Fred Meyers (Krogers) and the Alberta Street Co-op. All of these are easily accessible by bus as, again, it's just 2 blocks away.

Up to two more guests can be accommodated for an additional $14 per person/per night. The innerspring futon sofa in the studio does make out to a comfortable bed for two.

If you're bringing additional guests , please let me know when you book your reservation. Thanks! I am looking forward to welcoming you to my comfy home where you will find lots to do and have all the privacy you need during your visit.

P.S. if you are hoping to travel with more than 3, please do check out my other listing's availability. It is at the same location and you can find it just to the right of this listing under " My Other Listings".

Please remove your shoes inside. I want to continue sharing my beautiful artisan made rug with guests so thank you for helping me to keep it pristine!

Please lock the door when away and do not share access or door access code with anyone that is not within this agreement.

Do not smoke (any smokable substance :) indoors or with door open.

Thank you for helping me to keep peace with my neighbors by parking in front of/next to my house and not theirs.

Please bring my attention to any issues that need attention; things not working properly.

Please inform me if you will be traveling with your pets so I will know to slipcover the sofa. This keeps area free of pet dander that could exacerbate the allergies of future guests.

Pet owners: please do the daily cleanup, indoors and out! : )

Yes! You can wash your clothes! Up to 2 loads per week...thanks!

Please let me know in advance if additional guests will be arriving.

Please do not jeopardize your entire reservation by sneaking others in or allowing others use of the space without my approval.

Thank you for leaving the studio as you found it; clean dishes are appreciated and please re-set up the futon if it was pulled out. Your sheets and towels can just be placed in front of the washer, turn off lights, fans or heaters, lock windows and door. Thanks!
