About this listing
This is a unique little house, with separate shower and toilet, a place to write, to live, to love, to reflect.
No fancy things, just what you need to relax in simple life. You can cook, you can read, you can enjoy the surroundings. Time out.
Our annex is rustic and from 1898, so is our mainhouse and we have made a private space for you in our garden where the annex is.. In the traditional part of Hornbaek all houses are very close to each other and that gives a lot of atmosphere. The annex has a sleeping loft (small and not full height) partialkitchenette with refrigerator, separate shower and toilet, small patio with barbecue and afternoon sun - perfect for one person or a couple.
The beach, forest, harbor, shopping, tourist information and public transport are all within 3-5 minutes of walking distance.
In the summertime the beach is full of people enjoying the soft sand and the cosy dunes. Hornbæk is known for having one of Denmark's best beaches, and people travel from far for just a single day here. The coast is very family friendly, and a special beach playground is situated right next to the harbor.
Wind- and kitesurfers love the coastline at Hornbæk, and it is an impressive sight to see them flying over the sea in the wind.
The small town of Hornbæk with its 6000 year-round residents has several restaurants, and shopping is possible 7 days a week all year round except 25 December and 1 January.
There are several good restaurants, both with international but also with the famous Danish cuisine. In Copenhagen you will find some of the world's best chefs, and the greatest number of Michelin restaurants in Northern Europe.
Hornbæk is ideally situated to get to the popular tourist attractions north of Copenhagen: Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk (only 13 km away) and Kronborg Castle in Elsinore (only 12 km away), where Shakespeare's famous "Hamlet" is performed by world-class actors every summer. The beautiful Frederiksborg Castle, Fredensborg Palace and Queen Margrethe's Castle Amalienborg is also so close that they can be visited on a day trip.
Karen Blixen, sthe famous autor of "Out of Africa" has a dedicated museum only 20 km from Hornbaek.
Hornbæk has 7 golf courses nearby.
Hornbæk light is unique, full of beauty and tranquility. Many famous artists and painters have been inspired through the ages, and still do to this day. Summer days are long with lots of light until early morning - and winter invites to contemplation and silence.
Public transport: Bus and train connections to Copenhagen and Sweden is a 3-minute walk from the annexe. It takes 25 minutes to Elsinore with the little commuter train. From there, the coast-train takes you to Copenhagen, the airport and Malmö - or you can take the ferry (20 minutes) to Helsingborg in Sweden.
We are artists and love to use the annex for retreats to live simply and in this way be inspired. Our little house is perfect for quiet contemplation, or a cheap place to be while you spend your time and money on all the attractions.
We live right by ourselves with our children, and we'll do our best to give you the best experience possible!
You have acces to your own toilet and shower, its right outside to your right. See picture. There are two doors.
Interaction with Guests
We often welcome guests, but will leave them to have their private experience, you can text us and we will help and guide. But as we live right next door, we will be there for you if anything.
The fisherhouses are close to eachother, which is great and cosy. Ocean is 300-400 meters away, you can feel it, walk right down and join the sunset or sunrise. Most of the houses are antique, over 100 year.
From the airport you take the train to Helsinor, Elsinore. Thats the final destination for the train. Then you walk 10 meters down to the little train heading "Hillerod over Gilleleje"
It stops at Hornbak. Also possible to take a bus to hornbaek from Elsinore or Hillerod.
Please enjoy life and have fun. We expect that we respect each other and dont have load music with doors open - after 22.
we have a little dog and it might give a sound, also our kids:-)
Smoking is only outside, use the ashtray. Garbage is right outside up the annex, not the neighbours house:)
Looking down at the kitchenette - it's small, but it's got what you need. We just changed the kitchenette table, so its brown wood.
Tak for dejlig velkomst, og for et skønt ophold i skønne Hornbæk i det lille fine simple Living anneks!
Yasmins little annex was simple as she already says in the advertisement. But it's got everything you need, she even provided candles. Two weeks without TV are really relaxing. Try it!
Yasmin is a very nice, very helpful host. My boyfriend is allergic to feathers which I forgot to tell her. Anyway, she replaced the down bedding immediatly when we told her and even bought new bedding without downs. We were thrilled!
As for the surroundings, Hornbaek is very beautiful place: a very nice lake and forest for great walks and a very clean beach and sea. And royal Denmark and the vikings are not far either.
Great moment in the little annex! Yasmin was very welcoming. She bought some food for our arrival (butter, milk, fruits..), and we found that very very nice.
As Yasmin loves to say, the little annex is perfect for a simple living. We slept just under the roof, in a cocoon.
It was very clean and tidy, perfect.
Yasmin also helped us to rent bikes.
We enjoyed our stay in Hornbæk. Yasmin were so welcoming and arranged an extra bed for us, so we fitted three friends in the annex. The annex was so cosy, the beaches really nice (water temperature good), and Hornbæk a lovely little town.
We spent 3 nights in Yasmin's wonderful annex. We highly recommend a stay with Yasmin. The annex is cozy and rustic, and perfect for a quiet stay. The annex is close to everything, and Yasmin was very welcoming. She had even bought us wine and breakfast before we arrived! Hornbæk is a lovely city with the most wonderful beach. Ilse Jacobsen's Kurbadet had amazing food and a great spa, and we had ice cream from Ben&Jerry and Paradis every day.
We had a brilliant time in Yasmin's lovely restored outhouse. It's quite old (I think Yasmin said late 19th century) and has been lovingly and sensitively restored. It's a sweet hidey-hole, definitely a place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful time. We also found it well equipped with all the things you need, everything works, and the bed is comfortable. It's got great character and we were sad to leave - would love to return one day.
Yasmin was a thoughtful and helpful host; she's on hand if needed, but you have your space as well. She laid on bread, milk, cheese, juice and store-cupboard basics like tea, oil, spices etc. It was very easy to communicate with her - she responded very quickly to emails and text messages.
We were lucky to have beach weather most of the time and took full advantage! The beach is fantastic with beautiful clear seas. The nearby woods are also good for a wander. You can also hire bikes nearby and there are loads of quiet roads and cycle tracks.
About the Host, Yasmin Elvira
I'm a singer and songwriter. I live with my husband and our three children in Hornbaek in the mainhouse next to the annex. We love our life by the ocean, the freedom and space that nature gives us. We never had a 9 to 5 job, which means that we live fully for our music and communication in many ways. I work with my voice in commercials and with my body in meditation and as a Zumba instructor. We welcome you and will be assisting as good as we can. We will also let you have your own holiday in private.
My motto: Be honest, be yourself.
