Casa Erendira is a typical Mexican house with a Patio full of lovely plants and a Mezquite tree that gives great character, charm and shade to the house.
Our location is fantastic by bus or car and an easy distance to the center for keen walkers. We are located in the up town Centro area with spectacular views over the city near of the Mirador.
You can walk nearly everywhere from our Casa Erendira and with shortcuts to the center you are in 10 minutes down hill at the Parroquia. (Main square church). The lovely narrow streets make it even more fun to walk.
The bus stop of the public transport is in front of our house and makes this a car-less option. Taxis are always available too. (30 pesos/2 US dlr!) or private parking on site in walled compound for extra charge. ($50 pesos a day/ aprox 3,50 US Dlr.)
The neighborhood is nice and sfe. The shopping area “La Luciernaga” and the “Tuesday Market”, the Laundromat, family restaurants, pharmacy.... are all in walking distance.
Watch the most wonderful sunsets over San Miguel from our community rooftop deck with views of La Presa, and surrounding region.

We were appalled when we arrived at this house and saw that the entire place and many of the furnishings were in a serious state of disrepair. Some examples are broken kitchen window with shredded screen, deteriorating wood windows, metal window frames with caulking dried up and falling out, some of which couldn't be opened or had to be held closed with rope. More examples include walls losing plaster in places, bedroom drapes in shreds, leaking main floor toilet, poorly equipped kitchen. When we addressed these and other issues with the agent, she was responsive to our concerns, replacing much of the unusable equipment in the kitchen and the broken-down couch in the living room.
However, there was no way she could really take care of many of the issues with the house. That would require some major clean up and renovation. We did enjoy the home’s outdoor spaces and great location, which made up somewhat for the sorry state of the place, but we felt we were overcharged for what came to feel like a camp-out experience
If it were maintained, this house would work well for same-sex friends or one family with older children (wouldn’t work for young children as the stairs are completely open and could be treacherous.) In our case, the two couples sharing the space had virtually no privacy, since one must walk through the 2nd floor bedroom and climb an open stairway to reach the 3rd floor bedroom, and noises carried between the two bedrooms.
We’ve both rented places through AirBnB before and had good experiences, but the organization lost credibility on this one. After this experience we would be much more careful using this site and certainly wouldn’t rent without more client feedback than this home had. We went through the fine print on airbnb after arriving and seeing our rental, and there appears to be no recourse for the renter in a case like this.
Eréndira was the perfect landlady -- beyond helpful and very friendly and welcoming. Casa Piers, where we stayed in San Miguel, was indeed very close to the centro, as well as the market. The casa itself is lovely, with an outdoor patio just off the kitchen and magnificent views of the town from the second and third floors. Highly recommended.
We had a great stay in San Miguel at Erendira's place. Erendira was warm and welcoming and took the time to show us maps of the area, explain bus routes, suggest places to eat and things to do with our 2 year old. She even arranged a babysitter for us one evening! The room was basic but clean and comfortable, with a beautiful courtyard garden to relax in. The only negative was the busy road outside which was quite noisy at night -bring your earplugs! Having said that it was very handy for catching a bus back uphill from town, as the buses stop right by the house. Not all the rooms face the road. We'd definitely stay again if we return to SMA!
We had an excellent stay in a very lovely apartment with everything we needed and an incredible rooftop view. Erendira is very personable and a fantastic host arranging transportation from Leon to SMA and being very understanding when our flight was delayed ten hours due to weather. She even left some goodies for us to snack on upon our arrival since we did not get into apartment until 1 AM. Great job orienting us to the house and to SMA with wonderful suggestions. Local market is conveniently down the street which one passes every time one heads into centro, a short walk through local neighborhoods. I would come back to this place and would commend Erendira as someone to rent from!
Eréndira was a helpful host, assisting us when we had trouble finding the lodging (there are two Real Salida a Querétaro 137 addresses on the same street) however be aware that the room in the photos isn't necessarily the room you will be staying in. I booked for 5 people based on the picture of 4 beds plus a bunk, but the room we were given had 3 beds and an uncomfortable sofa. One couple ended up squashing into a single bed for the night, not something we should have to do considering it was $179 for the night. In saying that, the beds were clean and the building was safe. I just think she needs to update her photos and the listing will be more realistic.
Erendira was a very helpful host. She helped out when the cold/rainy weather hit unexpectedly and came over with extra
gasoline to heat the house. The house was simple but quite comfortable. The only thing it lacked was doors for the bedrooms, which left limited privacy. It is conveniently located and a quick walk to just about anything one would need. Erendira also had a driver who was very timely and an excellent and safe driver.
Conveniately located and self contained, this is a good place to stay. Whilst Erendira manages it, her mother lives next to this little garden house. Bed was comfortable but need to step outside for wifi. From the centre of San Miguel, this place requires a short but very steep walk however there is a beautiful cacti garden and market (Tues&Sun) close by.
