About This Listing
Dogs and humans welcome!
"The Dog House" is a charming cottage in the Old North End within walking distance to Colorado College, city parks, trails, neighborhood coffee shops, grocery stores, and just 1 mile to downtown. Watch the sun set behind Pikes Peak while enjoying the fire pit, enjoy a home cooked meal on the patio, or ask friends over for a BBQ. OF COURSE DOGS ARE WELCOME in the fully fenced dog friendly yard.
The one bedroom, one bathroom cottage is best described as "old meets new." It is fully furnished with Italian leather furniture, cowhide rug, Samsung LCD TV w/ Apple TV & DVD player, comfortable queen size bed, and primitive furniture that came out West in wagons. The kitchen is fully stocked with all utensils, pots, pans, even spices and basic necessities that previous guests have donated to the collection.
Take a soak in the claw foot tub, or relax under the rain shower. Cook with the modern gas stove, and don't worry about dishes, just leave them in the dishwasher to be done on your departure. Sleep in West Elm bedding ~ super cozy sheets, down pillows, and comforter. If you stay two nights or for the week or longer, you will be looking forward to your next visit to Colorado Springs.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO STAY 1 NIGHT, PLEASE CONTACT ME...IF POSSIBLE, I WILL MAKE ARRANGEMENTS.
A view of Pikes Peak greets you every morning from bed when you look out the window.
Let me know if you need anything from the store before you arrive so you don't waste vacation time shopping.
A fenced yard for pets to play.
If you stay 7 days or longer, access to washer and dryer in cottage is available.
Interaction with Guests
I try to greet each guest upon arrival. If it is not an option because of schedule conflicts,
I'll arrange access and touch base via text or mobile.
The close proximity to Colorado College, Shooks Run Trail, Memorial Park (free yoga Saturdays), DogTooth Cafe and walking distance to downtown. You don't even need a car!
Yes...close to bus stop. Taxi from COS airport is around $30.00 .
Other Things to Note
I will share my fresh eggs from my hens in the garden as well as produce I pick (in summer and fall). I always stock coffee, tea, spices, and some basics to cook because there is nothing worse than having to buy a whole bottle of something when you only use a teaspoon. My only ask is if you use it all up, leave something you didn't need the whole bottle of so we keep the collection going for everyone.
To keep costs to a minimum, please turn off the lights/AC when not in use and close the blinds and windows when your out in the summer to keep the house cool. The porch light is an energy saver intended to be left on in the evenings for your convenience.
Please pick up after your dog's business...daily bags are provided for your convenience.
Please keep dogs off the furniture and the bed.
Do not leave dogs in house alone, dogs may only be left outside in yard if you leave property...but no more than 2 hours at a time.
This cottage was build in 1901, the sewage is sensitive, please be mindful of what goes down the drain and in the toilet...to include not flushing feminine hygiene products.
The dishwasher is portable, I can show you how to hook up or let me do the dishes after you leave.
We *loved* staying at the Dog House! Cayce is an outstanding host. Everything is very thoughtfully laid out. Cayce was very welcoming and made it easy for us to find things and come and go easily. The space is warm and cozy and extremely clean. It's conveniently located near Colorado College. I highly recommend this space for an individual or a couple!
The pictures on the listing were very accurate. The house was small but cozy and was perfect for my boyfriend and I. The kitchen seemed well stocked. I appreciated the nice quality towels and bed sheets. I never met Cayce, but she said she was available if we needed anything. My favorite part about staying here was the chickens in the backyard. They were gorgeous and really fun to watch! The only main downside for me was that the lighting in the house was very dim which made it difficult to do work or apply makeup, etc. We didn't spend much time exploring the neighborhood, but it seems quiet and was a short drive to attractions.
The cottage was lovely, nice yard and patio seats as well. Cayce was very helpful and responsive, I'd stay here again! Lots of cookware and helpful cooking necessities as well.
Cayce was very responsive and definitely helped make our trip easy. The house was great and a really good central location. I would definitely recommend it for those looking for a smaller space!
Cayce provides a little nook hidden away for total comfort and privacy. I arrived on a rainy day and was pleasantly surprised by a towel and A umbrella waiting for me at my wet dog. The bed was comparable to a four-star hotel. It was great to see chicken coops on either side of the house! So cute! and she let me leave my recyclables behind. Thanks cayce.
The dog house was lovely and extremely cozy. We had an entire guest house to ourselves with a sectioned off back yard that our pup enjoyed all to himself. The inside of the home was lovely and had everything we needed (the bed is probably the comfiest thing I have ever slept on!) All in all, had a great and private stay at Cayce's home.

I am a corporate trainer and road warrior. I have spent a lot of time in hotel rooms and always appreciate comfortable quarters. You will find a comfortable bed, nice towels, and a clean house when you arrive, just like I expect when I travel.
