Come and bask in the snow, sunshine and fresh air of Taos, and take in the beautiful light and richness of northern New Mexico. Enjoy the artistry of the intimate studio, and close proximity to the Plaza, the heart of Taos. Hope to see you soon!!
Our private adobe studio has a full bathroom, stocked full kitchen and beautiful architectural features. It is cozy, quaint and comfortable for two people with lovely views! It has a very satisfying and easily operated full-size IKEA pull-out bed with plenty of linens, towels, and a down comforter. Parking is provided on-site, near the casita. Valverde is a quiet neighborhood street, with open-space Sunset Park bordering the western side of the property. It is within walking distance to the Historic Taos Plaza, the world-renown Honuman Temple, and has easy access to shopping, galleries and restaurants. Taos Ski Valley is a 21-mile drive away, or take the Taos Chile Line Shuttle for $1 each way which picks up about 1/2 mile from the Studio. Other nearby attractions include the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Twirl Toy Store and Playplace, the Kit Carson Home and Museum, Taos Pueblo, the KTAOS Solar Center, the Harwood Museum of Art, the Millicent Rogers Museum, and thousands of acres of National Forrest and hiking/cross country skiing trails. Cid's Market, a natural food grocery store, is also a walkable distance or a short drive away.
We love animals, and allow pets on a case-by-case basis, with a required $15.00 cleaning fee for pet guests. We ask that you respect our space and property and clean up after your pet.
This is also a non-smoking environment. Please do not smoke inside, or near any open doors or windows. Thank you!
Shared laundry machines are available for $5, and are located on the property in the basement space under the Studio.
Interaction with Guests
I am available 24-7 by email, text/phone, or through the airbnb site to address any questions or concerns. I live in Albuquerque, visit Taos often, and have a network of support systems in place to address any immediate needs you may have.
This is a great, quiet neighborhood, with a classic Taos feel. It is safe to walk around and close to many of the unique sights Taos has to offer!
The Chile Line goes up and down the main street in town, and also shuttles to the Ski Valley. There are several private shuttle companies offering services from the Albuquerue International Sunport (Airport) to Taos. The Taos Ski Valley also operates a daily shuttle from the airports in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
Please respect surrounding tenants and their privacy. The studio shares a thick adobe wall with the main house, so we ask that noise be kept at a reasonable level. We also ask that you clean up after yourselves when using the kitchen. Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis. We would appreciate you bringing a blanket or sheet to cover the rugs so that the pet hairs don't set into the rugs, and ask that pets are kept off of the furniture. Thanks! Check-In is 4:00pm, Check-Out is 11:00am. These times are flexible, so please check with us to see if we can accommodate alternate timing needs. And please, no smoking inside or near the space. We ask that smoking be done outside in areas which are a respectable distance from other tenants and structures.
Great location and communication. Ken made sure we had everything we needed in this beautiful place!
I had a great stay in Taos. The space was perfect for a quiet retreat. I walked to the plaza and cooked meals in the well appointed kitchen. I highly recommend Ken's casita.
What a lovely little studio with a lot of character! I loved the original art prints and the wood carvings. The place was so cozy, I quickly fell into a long catnap on the pull-out futon while my fellow traveller made good use of the wifi to look for our next campsite. Too bad it rained and rained soon after we arrived. We couldn’t take hikes in the nearby Kit Carson Forest and was only able to hit a few spots in town. I did not meet Ken but he attentively answered all my text messages within minutes, even the one about how to turn on the tv to get an update on the local weather! But alas, there are no local tv stations in Taos! My fellow traveller would have preferred otherwise, but it was absolutely refreshing to get away from the drone of the tv and the big city. The desert rain was lovely to listen to. I’d definitely stay here again. It was a good value for the price and the location, and the budget traveller need not skimp on style, comfort and good hospitality!
Great little studio very convenient to the square and grocery store. The studio is quaint. The people living in adjoining house have dogs but I only heard them bark a couple of times. Very quiet property. The bed is a pull out sofa/futon. It's relatively comfortable, even for older folks like us. Ken was super helpful. Stayed in contact. Gave good suggestions for dinner.
We had a fabulous stay at the cozy adobe home. It's small-ish but when out and about all day, it was a perfect place to end the day. I was a little skeptical about the futon for my 6'4" husband who is particular about his bed. He was perfectly satisfied, and actually raved about it. The host Ken was most helpful. Nice hot shower.
The studio was easy to find, located just a short (5-10 min) walk from shops/restaurants, and was a nice size for two people. It was perfect for us. We didn't get to meet Ken, but he made the process easy via text. Thanks!
Ken's place is AWESOME for couples or a solo traveler. Ken wasn't there when we arrived, but he was easily accessible via phone, and was extremely kind and helpful. The neighbors, and really everyone in Taos, are kind and friendly. We only stayed at Ken's one night as we were road-tripping across the southwest, but Ken's place would be a wonderful place to spend a long weekend.

We are both native New Mexicans, Ken being born and raised in Taos and Lisa in Albuquerque. We are proud to live in Albuquerque with our two daughters, Pearl and Ysabel, ages 3 and 16 months. Ken is a Designer, Lisa is a cellist. Albuquerque has a flourishing art and music community and we feel so lucky to both be working in fields we love. We also really enjoy traveling and try to do it as much as possible! And we love staying with other airbnb-ers as it's such an excellent way to get the true flavor of a place, and to get personal recommendations for local food and attractions. We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting people from so many different corners of the planet, and are pleasantly surprised how many amazing folks come through our town! We look forward to meeting you and sharing our passion for the American Southwest.
