Come stay in our cozy studio apartment. You'll have a separate guest entrance, a cheerful kitchen, a fully-tiled bathroom with tub and access to our little backyard oasis. We are located in a quiet neighborhood within short walking distance to restaurants and bars of N. Williams, Historic Mississippi and Alberta Arts. You can easily get around by using bikes from Biketown, Portlands bike share program, by public transportation (about 250ft to bus stop) and/or your car with free street parking.

The space
Our studio is perfect for one or two people looking for a quiet and clean space. The place is all yours, though we are living in the same house if you would like to contact us.

In the studio you will find lots of windows, a very comfortable queen bed with a newer memory foam mattress, coffee and tea as well as towels, sheets, blankets, shampoo and soap.

The kitchen is fully "stuffed" with all you need to prepare a meal. And of course we offer free fast Wi-Fi with a good signal.

Even that there is no A/C in the studio, it stays pleasantly cool in summer due to its location surrounded by plenty of trees.

There is free 24h street parking in front of our house.

You can hang out on the front porch or in the backyard - where urban gardening is underway - enjoying the warm Portland summer nights with a glass of wine or a pint of local beer.

Other things to note
The studio is in the lower level of our home in a house build in 1907. Although the construction is solid (think old-growth lumber) you will hear the occasional goings on above. If you experience disruption from upstairs please reach out to us.

The studio is not recommended for people over 6'4".

The shower/bath has a pull handle. You need to pull it out to turn the water on then spin in either direction to set the temperature.

The house manual will provide lot's of useful information about your stay.

Our rates are discounted for weekly or month-long stays.

We have a dog, which is only upstairs and has never been in or near the studio.

Neighborhood highlights

The house in in a quiet residential neighborhood with a Walk Score of 85 and a Bike Score of 95. Its only a few blocks from upcoming Williams Ave, Historic Mississippi, and Alberta Arts night-life, as well as bike paths, bus routes and light rail.

Portland’s known for great food, and you can find restaurants like Thai BBQ "Eem", pizza at "Life of Pie", Argentinian barbecue at the Ox, brewpubs like Migration Brewing, German beer at Prost, and cafes like Honey $ Bread and Poa fit for your palate close by. Or you can cook up a storm in your own kitchen or grab a bite from one of the many food carts nearby.
New Seasons (a local grocery chain) and Natural Grocers are nearby and provide an easy walk for groceries or a gourmet buffet (New Seasons) when you don’t feel like messing up the kitchen.
You can easily get around by using one of the bikes available from Portland bike share Biketown. The closest bike station is about 600ft from the studio, the closest kiosk to sign up is about 5 blocks away, or just use their app.

We love the urban life, and we adore the Northwest's natural beauty. We love to hike, kayak, get to the coast and garden. Ludger's an engineer, computer consultant and craftsman who makes old houses work better (and can fix just about anything!), and Deborah's a writer, poet and taught college English for a long time. We both work from home but love travel. We met on the way to Khajuraho, India (where you'll find the largest group of Medieval Hindu and Jain temples--famous for their erotic sculptures!) The bus broke down, and there we sat--two travelers dazed as the locals and their chickens and bags of rice departed. We enjoy sharing our northeast Portland home, and respect your privacy. With a private entrance to come and go as you please, you can simply enjoy your time alone, or join us on the front porch. We are happy to tell you about our favorite haunts and hikes, answer any questions, or leave you to your romantic getaway. When our garden thrives, we'll share some produce.
