New King bed with lovely new linens, and just-reupholstered comfy chairs in the sitting area. Come and enjoy!
NEW! NOW IT'S A KING-SIZED BED!
This large, post-and-beam room over our garage is light and airy with your own deck and private entrance. (Not handicapped accessible.) Ours is a small, quiet, wooded neighborhood 2.5 miles from the University of North Carolina and the UNC Medical Center, as well as the many wonderful restaurants and exquisite beauty of Chapel Hill and Durham (14 miles east). [Raleigh (30 mi.)/RTP (15 mi) and RDU Airport (20 mi.) are within easy driving distance as well.]
We are also just east of Southern Village, in south Chapel Hill. In fact, for hearty, adventurous souls, there is a lovely hike through the woods which will take you to our local organic Co-op grocery store, Weaver Street Market, the Weaver Street cafe, the Lumina movie theatre, many small shops and several great restaurants. We are walkable (for the hearty!) to all of those places and their amenities.
Our 720 square foot room holds a king bed (new!!) and a futon (which can sleep 2). We also have a roll-away cot for a 5th (small) person. There is a private bath with tub and shower. A dining area in one corner holds a "dorm" fridge and everything you need for kitchen basics (see photos). All towels and linens are of high quality 100% cotton; all are line-dried, so your head will sleep on a pillow of fresh air and sunshine. I stock the fridge and table with lovely treats. You'll have to come to find out exactly what! And . . . a couple of friends and I make candles when we find the time :) and I try to have them in the candelabra above the dining table for your (careful!) use and enjoyment. When my stock of hand-made beeswax tapers is sufficient, they are available for sale, enabling you to leave with a memento of your stay.
The room has its own separate heating/air conditioning unit, so you are able to meet your specific needs. (Also plenty of extra quilts and pillows.)
There is wireless internet available.
Easy parking just at the base of the stairway to your room.
Please make contact with me before attempting to book the room. When emailing inquiries please let me know how many people would be coming and a little about yourself or your trip.
** PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO BOOK THE APARTMENT BEFORE COMMUNICATING VIA THE AIRBNB SITE. I need to "get to know" you before booking: a little something about who you are and what you do; what brings you to the area. Thanks.
** PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO BOOK THE APARTMENT BEFORE EMAILING ME AS I WILL NOT ACCEPT REQUESTS WITHOUT FIRST GETTING TO KNOW WHO WILL BE STAYING IN OUR GUEST ROOM **
Please park off to the side of the driveway near the path to your room such that another car can pass. Please do not block access to the garage.
Staying in the Tree House was such a peaceful, wonderful experience. An easy drive out of downtown Chapel Hill, the space is large, so nicely appointed and very comfortable. We had a warm and attentive welcome from Margaret who provided excellent suggestions for dinner as well as delicious croissants, great coffee, fruit and granola for breakfast. Part of what made the experience so enjoyable was the attention to detail Margaret demonstrates: the sheets and towels so nice, the mix of reading materials good, and d even fresh spring blooms in the room. It was, all around, a terrific experience and I would definitely return.
Margaret's Treehouse is perfect! Just like the picture, the room is big and airy with post and beam ceilings and beautiful golden floors and furniture. There are comfy little seating nooks with lights, a table for morning breakfast and a big comfortable king-size bed. There is a private parking area for guests and given that this is an annex above the garage, one can come and go and not worry about disrupting the hosts. We were running late due to traffic and Margaret was very accommodating. She's also a vibrant, very nice host! I can't recommend this Airbnb location enough -- close to Chapel Hill but just a short drive into the woods; comfortable, quiet and clean. I will be back my next swing through Chapel Hill!
What a wonderful space! Worth every penny. Gracious host and ideal location. Just far enough out to feel relaxed and close enough to enjoy everything in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Definitely will keep it in mind for our next visit.
Staying at Margaret's treehouse was the best AirBnB experience I have had to date. Margaret was an incredible host and Chapel Hill ambassador. She gave great advice on how to spend our time in the area.
The accommodations were also incredible - the real unique, BnB type experience that is hard to find on AirBnB. I am definitely staying there on all future Chapel Hill trips, and recommending it to any friends traveling to the area.
Margaret was great! My wife and I were here for a few days to check out the town and the campus. We loved our stay at the Treehouse! Great location, friendly host, cozy and warm in the winter. We were very thankful we stayed here. Hope we get to come back!
Margy and Ed are the consummate hosts! The "treehouse" room is serenely quiet and beautiful, with luxurious linens on an exceptionally comfortable king-sized bed. Margy provided lovely food for my first day's breakfast, complete with yogurt and yummy granola. What a treat! I look forward to my next stay!
The Post and Beam Tree House is our home away from home in Chapel Hill. We can't imagine a better complement of setting, space and welcoming host!
My husband, Ed, and I have lived in Chapel Hill since 1985. Ed designed and built our lovely home in '91-'92, and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we have. Ed works at the UNC Medical Center as a pediatric orthopaedist, and I spend my work time these days writing. We have always loved to share our home with friends and family, and we love to travel, so finding out about airbnb and listing our available space seemed a logical extension of what we'd love to share. We hope you enjoy your time here, whether you stay with us, or in any of the other special places available to you in this "Southern Part Of Heaven."
