About this listing
New King bed with lovely new linens, and just-reupholstered comfy chairs in the sitting area. Come and enjoy!
NEW! NOW IT'S A KING-SIZED BED!
This large, post-and-beam room over our garage is light and airy with your own deck and private entrance. (Not handicapped accessible.) Ours is a small, quiet, wooded neighborhood 2.5 miles from the University of North Carolina and the UNC Medical Center, as well as the many wonderful restaurants and exquisite beauty of Chapel Hill and Durham (14 miles east). [Raleigh (30 mi.)/RTP (15 mi) and RDU Airport (20 mi.) are within easy driving distance as well.]
We are also just east of Southern Village, in south Chapel Hill. In fact, for hearty, adventurous souls, there is a lovely hike through the woods which will take you to our local organic Co-op grocery store, Weaver Street Market, the Weaver Street cafe, the Lumina movie theatre, many small shops and several great restaurants. We are walkable (for the hearty!) to all of those places and their amenities.
Our 720 square foot room holds a king bed (new!!) and a futon (which can sleep 2). We also have a roll-away cot for a 5th (small) person. There is a private bath with tub and shower. A dining area in one corner holds a "dorm" fridge and everything you need for kitchen basics (see photos). All towels and linens are of high quality 100% cotton; all are line-dried, so your head will sleep on a pillow of fresh air and sunshine. I stock the fridge and table with lovely treats. You'll have to come to find out exactly what! And . . . a couple of friends and I make candles when we find the time :) and I try to have them in the candelabra above the dining table for your (careful!) use and enjoyment. When my stock of hand-made beeswax tapers is sufficient, they are available for sale, enabling you to leave with a memento of your stay.
The room has its own separate heating/air conditioning unit, so you are able to meet your specific needs. (Also plenty of extra quilts and pillows.)
There is wireless internet available.
Easy parking just at the base of the stairway to your room.
Please make contact with me before attempting to book the room. When emailing inquiries please let me know how many people would be coming and a little about yourself or your trip.
** PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO BOOK THE APARTMENT BEFORE COMMUNICATING VIA THE AIRBNB SITE. I need to "get to know" you before booking: a little something about who you are and what you do; what brings you to the area. Thanks.
** PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO BOOK THE APARTMENT BEFORE EMAILING ME AS I WILL NOT ACCEPT REQUESTS WITHOUT FIRST GETTING TO KNOW WHO WILL BE STAYING IN OUR GUEST ROOM **
Please park off to the side of the driveway near the path to your room such that another car can pass. Please do not block access to the garage.
Perfect, lovely, calm space. I wish I had a place like this in my own house! Eating space and conversation space plus a giant bed--all under the trees. Very very good.
Margaret was immediately warm and welcoming. She made a special effort to get the room prepared for our arrival, and it was as lovely as shown in the photos. The new king bed is very comfortable and had a lite down comforter.
I especially loved the beams and high ceilings along with the lovely large oriental rug where I could do yoga each morning.
Since we had our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter in town, we asked if she could stay over; and Margaret immediately supplied us with sheets and a towel in the event that she came. I hope to come again.
What a lovely stay - Margaret and her husband were perfect hosts! We arrived for a late check-in with no problem at all and were greeted inside by lovely decor, a very comfortable king bed, and some goodies too! Fresh fruit and pastries were a lovely touch. Although, I'd have to say the fresh-from-the-farm cream for our morning coffee was my absolute favorite. I've never had such amazingly rich cream in my coffee! m
The room/studio was very clean and welcoming and I was glad that we got an opportunity to say a quick hello to them one of the mornings of our stay. I'd absolutely stay there again and hope that I get the opportunity.
We had a lovely stay at the Post & Beam. This is a welcoming very comfortable peaceful locale in a very nice wooded neighborhood near UNC . The space is large and was perfect for a Chapel Hill wedding we attended. Margaret was terrific with great and quick communication. It was great to have the fridge. kettle, and toaster oven.
Our hosts made us feel right at home! It's obvious that they want their guests to feel comfortable and at home in this tranquil setting.
I lived in the Triangle years ago and came to show my girlfriend, and needless to say Margaret made this weekend perfect. From the breakfast waiting in the room, to the way the room was prepared for us. I could not have asked for any more. If you have any questions about Chapel Hill or the surrounding area she is happy to assist as well.
Seriously just stop looking through other listings and get this one. We didn't want to leave. Thank you so much!
Margaret was the perfect host from the moment we arrived till our sad departure. She was totally accomodating. Her attention to every detail was impeccable. The "tree house" was the perfect setting it made feel like wa were thirty years younger and on a honeymoon ! We will certainly try to return some time soon.
About the Host, Margaret
My husband, Ed, and I have lived in Chapel Hill since 1985. Ed designed and built our lovely home in '91-'92, and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we have. Ed works at the UNC Medical Center as a pediatric orthopaedist, and I spend my work time these days writing. We have always loved to share our home with friends and family, and we love to travel, so finding out about airbnb and listing our available space seemed a logical extension of what we'd love to share. We hope you enjoy your time here, whether you stay with us, or in any of the other special places available to you in this "Southern Part Of Heaven."
