About this listing

This is one of the apartments in Villa Lola, located in Vaðlaheiði near Akureyri, the capital of north Iceland.
The villa is located in the exclusive residence area of Akureyri. This location offers you a quiet atmosfair and a touch of the nature. You will have a view over the bay and Akureyri . In the winter time you can enjoy the aurora borealis and in the summer time the midnight sun.
Akureyri is just 10 min. drive. In Akureyri you have all kinds of shops, restaurantsand many cafés, different galleries and there are lots of professional music concerts as well all summer music festival.
This appartment is the biggest of the three appartments in the house. There is a living area, with kitchen one bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, then there is a loft where there is a double bed. Towels and bedlinen are inclunded in the price. We offer a extra bed and baby bed on request.
There is an easy access not only to the center of Akureyri but also all the interesting sites surrounding.
From the house you can take a hiking tours, you can walk up to Sulur, the mountain above Akureyri, you can hire horses for daily tours or a midnight sun ride, visit naturally heated swimming pool, you can hire kayakas or join professional diving, play golf on the northern most 18 whole golf ground, go on a angling trip, have a walk along the fjord and then I like to tell you about the birthplace and home of heli skiing in Iceland, the Troll Peninsula in the country just below the Arctic Circle. In winter, ski or do cross-country skiing in the best ski resort with view of the fjord, amazing! Or dog sledging with our huskies and snowshoewalks or fishing troght ice.
And then it is very popular to drive the road skirting the beautiful western shore of the Eyjafjordur Fjord, visit the magnificent waterfalls, Goðafoss and Dettifoss, Dimmuborgir, Mývatn, the Grand Canyon of Jökulsárgljúfur and whale watching in Húsavík. It is also possible to take an organized day trip from Akureyri to the island of Grimsey, which straddles the Arctic Circle.
It is easy to get to Akureyri!
Icelandair is offering flights to Akureyri. So it is as well just a 45 Min. flight from Reykjavik downtown to Akureyri. It is only a 7km drive from the airport to our house. If you are driving, Akureyri is on the ringroad and is a approx. 5 to 6 hours drive from Reykjavik. To stay in vaðlaheiði you need a car.
The property offers a quiet position and a great view.
It is a easy access to the center of Akureyri and the beautiful places in its surroundings.
AMAZING place! If you think the pictures look nice, wait till you see it for real.... You should definitely stay here more than 1 night, I made the mistake not to do that and regret it very much. Thank you!
Due to Jorunns very detailed descriptions we easily found this great apartment. The kitchen was well equipped and basic ingredients for cooking were available. The apartment was very clean, spacious and had a very nice view over Akureyri.
Vooraf ontvingen we een mail met info over Akuyeri alsook een routebeschrijving. Het huis is heel net en comfortabel ingericht. Het is de naam 'Place with a beatiful view' meer dan waard. We genoten erg van ons verblijf hier.
Admittedly I was most excited to stay in this location when I booked my travel for Iceland. Unfortunately I don't feel it meet my expectations. There was quite a bit of confusion getting directions to the home. Ultimately I had to make an international call the day before to find out where I was going. That added a lot of unnecessary stress to my trip.
The home looks beautiful in the photos, and the views certainly are just that. But the house really needs attention. The walls all dirty, the staircase to the bedroom is totally questionable (the first stair is almost completely broken and made me too nervous to go upstairs), and there are a variety of other maintenance issues that should be addressed for the price we paid.
It overall meet our needs, but it was a bit of a downer.
The house was even prettier than in the photographs and arrival was a breeze. I agree with some other comments that the stairs should be screwed in better, it was a little nervewracking seeing them move so much as people walked up and down.
The key was in the door which meant it was easy to get in after a long drive, but we also worried that things could be missing or broken and we wouldn't know. A nice note and the honor system was in place for wine and other drinks. The view is absolutely beautiful and the house very modern and interesting- great bath. The stairs up to the large loft bedroom were rickety and in need of maintenance- which worried us with large suitcases to trek up. The ceilings were low making it a little difficult to get into one side of the bed. Second bedroom was small but fine. There were not clear instructions for the coffee pot that we were never able to figure out how to work. The liquid soap dispenser was empty and we didn't find any replacement soap. Beautiful place- great for 2 or 4. Thank you for letting us share your pretty place.
Jórunn's home was absolutely beautiful! Such an incredible location, right next to town. Her home was clean & comfortable, relatively easy to find and the views were unmatched. Wish we could have stayed longer! Loved it.
