Hip East Downtown! Walk to 6th!

Apartment - Entire home/apt · East 8th Street, Austin, TX 78702, United States

The Space

All of the venues on East 6th street are only a 15 minute WALK from here. Tons of bars, coffee shops, thrift stores and Mexican food restaurants are all in a 3 block radius!

The center of downtown is about a 20 min walk, or you can catch bus number 4 and be there in seconds. The bus stop is only two blocks from my apartment!

The apartment is in a well kept and very laid back apartment complex with only twelve units and parking on site. Separate bedroom, bathroom and living room. My neighbors are laid back and I know them well, so there shouldn't be any problems.

There is only one full sized bed, but I do have a sofa that someone can crash on as well, or I have an air mattress you can use for a total of four beds. The apartment is clean, comfortable and in an unbeatable location. Coin-op washer and dryers on site.

Fresh towels and linen provided!

Thanks!

  • We had a great stay at Doyle's apartment. The apartment is perfect for 2 and the neighborhood is very nice. Doyle was very cool and flexible with check-in/check-out time. He also checked in with us during the stay to see if everything worked out. The location (East of downtown Austin) is great. There are some really nice Tex-Mex restaurants and great outdoor patios in the close neighborhood. The riverfront is also walking distance with a great trail if you're into running or just hang out around the river. We ended up taking a taxi back from 6th street at night, since the walk is about 30+ minutes. I biked it during the day (with Austin's awesome public bike system), and that takes only 10 minutes from downtown to the apartment.

All in all a great stay (Thanks Doyle!) and an awesome weekend in Austin!

  • Doyle was one of THE most attentive and kind hosts we have ever had. Not only did he purchase a brand-new air mattress when the first one had problems, he was sweet enough to not call us total idiots when we told him the sink wasn't working and he patiently explained that we dumbass Australians hadn't pulled the plug out. And after all that he tirelessly drove one of our party to the bus station early in the morning! Above and beyond the call of duty.

The place was great for us for SXSW, we enjoyed the walk into downtown via E 6th, stopping for burgers along the way.

  • Doyle's place was a good base for the first half of SxSW. While the apartment is a little far out, I still managed the walk to downtown in 30 minutes and it's a pleasant stroll along 6th. Doyle was very attentive and checked in on me to make sure I had everything I needed.

  • Luke is a delight! I'm looking forward to staying in touch and highly recommend his space. He is accommodating, easy to get along with and very interested in making his guests comfortable and appreciated!

  • I extended my stay, see prior review :)

    February 2014
  • The space is cozy and just a short walk to the uber hip and up-and-coming East Austin 6th Street drag... not to be confused with the downtown 6th street with all the music/bars/clubs. Check out Hot Mama with belly dancing and hula hoop lessons on their patio, or Practice Yoga- hands down one of the most gorgeous yoga studios I've seen (and I've done yoga in Chicago, LA, SF and Austin)... plus a food trailer park and Sputnik (great hamburgers, staff and interesting decor that combines an 80's pinup vibe with an old school low brow bar motif).

Luke is also amazing. He could not be more amenable and flexible to my needs/wants/schedule and mishaps. I lost the keys and he came out to meet me on a freezing Friday night with a new set and was entirely sweet about the whole thing! I hope to host him during his stint in SF and highly recommend this cute space to anyone looking to be near the action but slightly off the beaten (website hidden): Town Lake is just a few blocks away and is perfect for biking and running, with great views!

  • Had a wonderful stay in Doyle's apartment. Loved meeting Arthur and the neighborhood cats. The apartment was clean and cosy.

  • I came to Austin for the first time for a romantic getaway over New Years and was quite pleased with this rental. By car, it is very close to all of the 6th St. venues, and I found it to be conveniently located for access to the airport (15 minutes or so). I loved the way the place was decorated. I would consider staying there again and would recommend it to others. Great value!

  • Although we didn't have the opportunity to meet Luke in person it wasn't an issue since he was very clear in his communications and the key-exchange was well organized. We found the apartment to be in good order and well situated in relation to E. Austin eateries and bars. If you are planning on exploring downtown or S. Congress it's recommended that you do have a car or be comfortable with taking the bus (it may be a bit too far for most to walk). We had a car so I can't speak to the frequency of the bus in the area but you should be prepared either way. Recommended for future stays!

  • Luke was great and very nice! He was good at communicating all through the trip and made sure we were fully satisfied. The only thing I'd want others to know is that it's a decent walk to most places, so I'd recommend the bus or a car. This was a little hard on us (my boyfriend and I) at first because the weather was surprisingly cold during our stay, but then we learned the neighborhood near this place is becoming more and more popular. Lots of hip bars nearby, with a more hipster crowd than in downtown, which we preferred. It's a simple place, but had everything we needed - plus a lot of cats hanging outside the complex.
