Galway is one of the most chilled out spots in Western Europe. Despite being a city, it feels like a big town with its easy attitude and cool bohemian vibe. Known as the City of the Tribes, after the 14 affluent tribes who ruled during the middle ages, this thriving city is the most westerly in Europe and enjoys a strong artistic heritage and a flourishing arts, music, theatre and film scene. Summer in Galway is a never-ending stream of excellent festivals, with eating, drinking and entertainment all taking place outdoors in the balmy air of this warm-hearted city. Enjoy the atmospheric pubs in this West of Ireland city with its beautiful location at the edge of Galway Bay, its pretty medieval streets and its lively weekend markets for a city break you’ll never forget.

Everything whas perfect at Géraldine's house . Géraldine and Pat are verry friendly. The house and the bedroom are nice and confortable . Géraldine made un Irish breakfast every day for us with bacon, eggs, saussages, black and white pudding and it was verry delicious .Thank's a lot for thoses nices days.
Our arrival was a bit difficult as it was late in the evening and it was raining cats and dogs. But finally we found our way to Geraldine who was waiting for us. The welcome was warm and we had a nice chat over a cup of tea.
The room was clean and nice, shower and wc just next to it. Enjoyed our sleep, as the neighbourhood is very quiet.
We got so many good tips for the next day which we spent in Connemara. Geraldine was really very helpful and gave us maps that helped us on our day trip in the lovely Connemara.
We felt very much at home and enjoyed our stay. We were especially thankful for all the kind attention Geraldine gave us.
Geraldine's guest house is a nice communal experience with plenty of privacy as needed. Her breakfast is fantastic! This location is perfect for enjoying the waterfront and the downtown area.
For whose who want long story short : We came to a host, we left a friend. Wonderful!
We stayed one week and this was one of our best trip ever. Geraldine is absolutely lovely and will make you feel like you're in a second home. It was a delight to speak with her on the morning, with her generous breakfasts (included in the price), learning useful tips about where to go or what to see. We where very sad to leave her. We also think this place is better suitable for people looking for being in contact with locals, so if you want a very quiet and lost in the wild experience, you might want to look to other places.
About the accomodation, the room was perfectly clean and cosy. The house hosts often students, so this is a very familial ambiance.
Everyone is realy kind and helpful. The location of this house is perfect since it's in Galway surroundings, allowing easy acces to center (even by bus) or to leave the city. You are completely free since you have the home keys but people will enjoy to be with you if you want. You can also use the kitchen freely if you want (to have a tea or even cook something).
Some things to know : the bathroom is not private, there can be animals (cat), so be careful if you're allergic, and there is a good WiFi.
We cannot recommend enough this place!
I'm glad for sharing my first experience of airbnb with you :). Thank you a lot for help and your welcoming ! It was short but really nice.

About the Host, Geraldine
Hi my name is Geraldine and I'm from Ireland. I love travelling and learning new languages and about new cultures. I have been all over Europe and also to Chile in South America, which I loved. I like all types of sport especially golf, which I play. There are great golf clubs nearby that I can give you information on. It is also a musical household, my son David plays several instruments and is involved in a local band. My children are grown up now so I have a couple of spare rooms in my house and thought I'd give Airbnb a go because I've heard great things about it. I hosted foreign students for years and really enjoyed the experience. Our household is happy, friendly and easy going. I would be delighted to have you stay with me and my family and to give you travel info about Galway and Ireland.
