  • I booked at Nomadas for a week, nothing to complain about. It's a simple, clean place with easy access to the city and not in a busy area. At Nomadas you will get to meet Gabriel and his family, all of whom are very friendly and helpful. This (email hidden) to start your journey, and if you don't yet know what you want to do they have many suggestions. San Jose itself is lacking in things to do unless you know exactly what you want from it, I would recommend staying for only a couple days and using it as a 'base' between destinations.

  • Gabriel was very nice and accommodating. He allowed me to leave my bags in his home a day early so I could travel a bit without the weight of a big pack. His communication was prompt and he was easy to get ahold of with questions. Thank you! I had a private room, which was one of the smaller dorm rooms. The walls are quite thin, though so noise-wise it felt as if I were in a shared room. So if I come back I would likely choose to save $15 by staying a shared room. I had a good experience though.

  • I chose Nomadas because it is in quiet, safe and clean neighborhood. Also it is not too far from the airport. The hostel rooms were clean, neat and comfortable for a reasonable price. Gabriela and Magdalena were gracious hosts who helped plan my itinerary in Costa Rica. The hostel has a family-type atmosphere which is very conducive when one arrives (email hidden). I enjoyed my stay at Nomadas and would recommend it to others who arrive in San Jose with further travel around Costa Rica. Mucho Gracias!

  • Gabriel and Magdalena were sweet and wonderful hosts:) the private room (but no private bathroom) was alright in size and the showers were a little cold. but the overall living space was warm, cosy, inviting and created the perfect chill spot as well as a great area to mingle with other travelers. the house is a 5 minute walk + 7 minute bus ride away from the main town area and is a 30 minute bus ride away from the airport it's in a pretty great location too!

  • Clean, quiet & simple. Gabriel (email hidden) and very helpful. It is located outside of downtown and has a well stocked supermarket just a block away. The bus to downtown San Jose is only 300 Colones/60 US Cents and only takes a few minutes. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Gabriel is an amazingly helpful and sincere host with a great sense of humour. The location for me was perfect..i had some dental work (email hidden)..just a short walk from Nomadas.
I would recommend staying here if you enjoy good company and a clean, tranquilo place to during your visit to San Jose.
    Gracias!

  • it was our first time in CR and San Jose. Nomadas is a cheap, basic place a little off from downtown San Jose. Gabriel was very helpful and provided us with all the info we needed to continue on our journey. He even offered us a free stay after we missed our first night due to airline cancellations! The place is recommended for your entry point or just before leaving CR when you're either on your way to or back from all the wonderful parts of the country.
