The Space

A stone barn converted with style, Le Mas de Las Cans offers the ideal environment for those looking for comfortable, elegant self-catering accommodation. Also, it is an ideal lodging for those who appreciate silence and isolation, with stunning views to the Mediterranean and Pyrenees. The house is suitable for all-year-round rental, as it has been insulated throughout with hemp, so keeping cool in summer and warm in winter. The house sits on a plateau facing south and set in the middle of 10 hectares of private land. At an altitude of 500m, the house is reached along a track that alternates between concrete, asphalt and forestry track, and is accessible to all vehicles, with caution.

Accommodation comprises kitchen/dining room, with gas stove/oven and fridge/freezer - living room with wood burner - two bedrooms, both with double beds, one with two single beds - bathroom with large bath and a great view, separate shower, toilet and bidet. There is a toilet/shower room off the ground floor terrace, that includes a washing machine. Hot water comes mostly from thermal solar panels, and all electricity from photo-voltaic panels. Heating and additional hot water from a gas boiler. Pure untreated water comes from our own spring.

For walkers; The GR74 (Grand Randonnee) passes along the border of the property and connects with the GR7 at the top of the hill, reaching onto the Plateau Du Larzac. Often, pilgrims walking the Camino del Compostella can be seen.

The nearest towns for shopping, markets and cafes are Lodeve and Clermont L'Herault both about 25mins away.
The freshwater lake "Lac du Salagou" great for swimming and boating, (and no motor boats!) is 25mins away.

There's plenty to see and visit nearby, like PEZENAS, known for its association with Moliere, and its narrow, mediaeval streets lined with shops and restaurants. CARCASSONNE, the famous walled mediaeval city. SAINT-GUILHEM-LE-DESERT is one of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France" (The most beautiful villages of France), and the Abbey of Gellone, along with the nearby Pont du Diable were designated UNESCO World Heritages sites in 1999. This well known bridge over the river Gellone is a great bathing spot. LE CAYLAR and LE PLATEAU du LARZAC and its Cathar connections. MILLAU and its stunning viaduct. LE CIRQUE DE NAVACELLES, a geological wonder, to name but a few.
