About This Listing
Private bedroom with private bath and balcony. Centrally located between the East and West sides. Great for couples or singles. Two cute cats to cuddle! MAY TO JUNE SPECIAL NOW!!
*Note for summer 2015 bookings: We are looking for renters who need a place for May and June. We will be out of town May 20 - June 8, so if you rent during these dates (preferably at least a week before so we can meet you), we will work out a good deal with you. You would have the whole apartment to yourself for a fraction of the price. We do have two cats who need to be fed twice a day (morning and evening, flexible), so that's why you'll get the sweetheart deal for caring for them while we are away. We have had Air BnB guests who've done this for the past two years and it's worked out awesome for everyone. So if you're looking for a private summer sublet during or including those dates, please message me!*
Share our lovely home in your own private "wing," including a private bedroom with it's own private bathroom and your own balcony.
I live with my partner in a spacious apartment located just a couple of miles south of West Hollywood and the Grove, the Beverly Center, and very close to downtown, Culver City and Beverly Hills. Right down the street is the Expo Metro light rail station that connects you to Downtown LA, Pasadena, Hollywood, Long Beach, North Hollywood and elsewhere very quickly. Also very close to the 10 freeway so both the beach (Santa Monica/Venice) and downtown LA are a quick drive from the apartment. Bus lines have worked out really well for other guests, and you can find routes on (website hidden).
There is ample free street parking on our block, a Starbucks, Walgreens, and various small businesses within walking distance. Really, lots that LA has to offer right at your fingertips.
Your room has hardwood floors, an incredibly comfortable full sized bed, walk in closet, desk and chair. You also have a large sliding glass door that leads to a balcony. You have your own full bathroom next to your bedroom. We provide clean towels and toilet paper in the bathroom.
Wireless internet is included as well as access to our kitchen/dining area. You will have space in the refrigerator, as well as a cabinet to yourself for food storage. Dishes and cutlery are all shared. Down the hall is a coin operated washer and dryer; you also have your own drying rack on the balcony.
My partner and I are in the master bedroom on the other side of the apartment with our own bathroom, so you will have ample privacy.
Private bedroom, private bathroom, balcony access, access to kitchen and living room, Netflix subscription, room in the refrigerator. Need something else, just ask!
Interaction with Guests
As much or little as you want. We will be present for some of your stay, but also travel a lot. When we are working from home at times during the day, we like to have little contact, but in the evenings we can hang or keep to ourselves, depending on your wants and needs.
Our neighborhood is technically Pico-Robertson, a little known neighborhood with conveniences like a great gym down the street, close coffee shops and groceries, and a cute neighborhood park. It's next door neighborhood is Mid-City, which is blowing up with new coffee shops, vegan cafes, and designer shoe stores. What we love most about our neighborhood is how centrally located we are - literally the center of LA. 8 miles to the beach, 8 miles to downtown.
Like everywhere in LA, it's easier to get around if you have a car. However, we have had many Air BnB guests stay for extended periods, using only public transit. It's easy to get to Westwood (UCLA), and there are buses that go downtown and to the beach. You can take a bus straight down La Cienega Blvd to the Metro Rail Station, which will get you just about everywhere. I take it to work, which for me is near Downtown. LA also uses Lyft a ton, and you can hire a car to get you anywhere pretty cheap. A ride to West Hollywood is 8 dollars from our place, for instance, and a Lyft downtown is around 15.
1. Please be LGBTQ friendly, because we are a lesbian/queer couple and many of our friends are as well.
2. Smoking is allowed, but on the balcony only (which is right outside your room).
3. Be generally clean and respectful of space in common areas, i.e. put your dishes in the dishwasher (rinse them first).
4. Must like cats because there are two in the apartment and they are very friendly will want to hang out with you. (But don't worry about cat hair - we are very clean and vacuum meticulously.)
5. Please respect the rocking chair in your room. It's wood - don't put wet towels and clothes on it. You have access to a drying rack if you need to hang stuff.
6. We sometimes work from home. Chris's office is in the common area. If she is working between the hours of 9am-6pm, please feel free to use kitchen/dining, but please keep conversation to an absolute (website hidden) while she is working in her office is also not allowed, but you're free to use it in the evenings, weekends, and other times when she is not working at home.
7. Please shut and lock balcony door in your room anytime you leave the apartment. (Cats are allowed on the balcony, but don't lock them outside - meow.)
8. Don't use the I Heart Cleveland mug, please :)
Recomendable.
First of all I would just like to say the Chris and Elizabeth were amazing hosts. I learned a lot from them, everything from how to get around Los Angeles, to how to make a great Kale lemonade drink in the Vitamix! They even invited me out a couple times to meet some of their friends. The neighborhood is great, I never had to park more than up the block in the two months that I was there. There are some nice up and coming restaurants in the area if you want to try out some great options that are also healthy! I was going to school in Santa Monica and it never took more than 20 minutes to get all the way downtown Santa Monica in the mornings by car. The house was always very tidy and clean and the room I stayed in had its own balcony and there was a huge beautiful tree right outside that gave ultimate privacy. The cats are adorable, and Algy (the cat) always kept me company. The girls have busy lives so more often than not we would miss each other and it almost felt like I had the whole place to myself which was EXACTLY what I was hoping for when I scoured AirBNB for a place to call home. Long story short, if you are thinking about staying here, DO IT :)
We really enjoyed our stay in Chris' place! This stop in Los Angeles was perfect, she is really nice and helpful! We also appreciate the quiet room with his independent bathroom. Chris is also close from everywhere, you can easily go to Hollywood, beverly Hills and LA. We recommend it for sure!
I stayed here for a month and a half (also my first Air bnb experience), and it exceeded my expectations! Super clean, huge room, lots of privacy, and all the bedding, etc was brand new. It's close to almost everything, and the neighborhood felt very safe. Also - a TON of closet space. Chris and Elizabeth are lovely- very welcoming and helpful! Even fed me breakfast on one of my first days there! Oh, and the cats are great - I'm going to miss Algy...
Really can't recommend it highly enough.
Chris and Elizabeth´have a great place in a safe and friendly neighbourhood. They were both very accomodating and were happy for us to bustle in and out of the apartment whenever we pleased - exactly what we were looking for! The apartment itself is fantastic. Very funky fitout and we had a very spacious bedroom with our own bathroom attached which was very much appreciated. Extremely clean and tidy, would definitely recommend.
Chris and Elizabeth (and the cats) were great hosts. We got there a bit late (damn LA traffic!) but they were flexible for us. We had a car and the house was easy enough to find. Had to park around the corner a few times but it's no big deal, just a very short stroll. We were hardly at home because we had a tight schedule to try and see LA in a few days, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thanks a lot!
