Interaction with Guests
We are not in the house when guests are there, but are happy to talk with guests beforehand. We hope you treat the house as you would your own. Nuestra casa es tu casa.
Our house is in Colonia San Antonio, one block from the Ancha, the border street to Centro, a wide street that becomes Salida a Celaya at Sterling Dickinson. Our house is on a wonderful, quiet street with great neighbors that is a one-block walk to the Instituto. There are many restaurants and shops of all kinds within a couple of blocks, including food stores, Farmacia Guadalajara, and vegetable stands.
There are buses on Orizaba and on the Ancha that can take you almost anywhere in San Miguel. Walking on the relatively even and flat streets in the neighborhood is how we get around. A delightful park two blocks up Avenida Allende features the San Antonio Church, a beautiful and loved landmark. Great place to sit and watch the children and birds playing in the fountain!
Other Things to Note
Just about everything you need is in the house for an enjoyable stay. Ask if you have questions about what to bring.
Our wonderful housekeeper, Estela, is there two or three days per week. She has studied massage and can give your body comfort with her magic hands for $350 pesos an hour. Please be generous in tipping her. I give her 100 pesos each day for her propina (about $8 usd).
No smoking, no drugs, limited drinking, no loud parties with more than six additional people. Rental is for up to four people. Pets considered after discussion with owner and pet deposit. Must be housebroken and well behaved.
Amazing experience; amazing house. Nora made me feel right at home in her home, helping me to get acquainted with the house over message. This house was more than large enough for me and my friends, who were in SMA to shoot a film. We used the home as our home base as well as our make-shift production office. The location of the house is excellent, just far out enough from the centro to have blissful quiet rest, yet close enough to walk to any destination in the city. The photos are quite accurate, although they exclude the wonderful roof terrace area. We were also very grateful to get to know Estela who helped us clean the house and even gave my friend a massage! Also, all of the modern appliances helped us to keep focus on our work - dishwasher, washer and dryer, endless hot water - this things became essential as we found ourself working into the late night hours strapped for time. Thank you Nora for letting us use your home!!
My host was the most lovely person you can imagine, the neighborhood and street could not have been more convenient, safe or pleasant and the house is perfectly maintained and cheerful and comfortable.
