About this listing
This charming cottage style two bedroom, one bath home is one-half of the ohana (or second family home) on my private two acre property. It is located on a quiet, secluded street a short ten minute drive south of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai'i.
The cottage includes a large covered wrap-around lanai, and 800 square feet of interior space: a kitchen, dining and living area, a large bathroom with tiled shower, one bedroom with a queen sized bed, and the other bedroom with a full sized bed.
We are conveniently located for exploring all of East Hawaii, from the Ahalanui Hot Ponds and Kapoho Tide Pools in southern Puna, to Volcano National Park, and (of course) Hilo and the Hamakua coast regions. We are also happy to share snorkeling equipment, ice chests, and a variety of picnic gear with our guests.
We always have our own fresh farm-raised eggs to share with our guests, as well as seasonal fruits and vegetables; and are also very convenient to many of the local farmer's markets for year round fresh tropical produce. A nice selection of restaurants can be found in nearby in Kea'au and Pahoa villages, and are even more abundant in Hilo town.
We have a peaceful, secluded spot here and want to make sure it stays this way. So please be courteous and aware of others staying on the property.
Keeping the Cottage mildew and bug-free is also very important, so please follow my written instructions on how to handle various types of rubbage and recycling.
Please use the clothesline on the lanai to dry towels, etc if the weather permits, and open the bathroom windows when taking a shower. Electricity is very expensive here, so we try to conserve as much as possible by unplugging appliances when not in use and only using lights when needed.
From Dec 01, 2015 - Feb 28, 2016 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
About the Host, Darya
I grew up in California, and came to the Big Island of Hawaii 9 years ago. I love plants and food, children and animals, art and photography. I would love to travel to Europe again, but first I hope to travel to Asia: China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and to eat my way through every delicious region!
But until then, meeting people from all parts of the world as they travel to our beautiful, welcoming island is just perfect!
