The Bamboo Bungalow is a traveler's oasis in Olympia’s Northeast neighborhood. Just around the corner from the famous San Francisco Street Bakery, the Bungalow is one half of a cozy duplex. It is tucked into an exotic collection of living bamboo and treasures gathered from beaches and forests around Western Washington. The Bungalow is almost 2 miles north of downtown.

The space

The BB (as we call it) is situated in a friendly walk-able neighborhood. Just five short blocks away is the best bakery in town. Not only do they have great baked goods, but they have real food too. On the weekends they extend their service to include dinner. There's also a convenience store across the street from the bakery.

Just a 15 minute walk (or 3 minute drive) takes you down San Francisco Street to East Bay Drive. Breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains and Budd Inlet are visible all the way to the heart of downtown Olympia.

The Bungalow comfortably accommodates 4 guests with:
Two bedrooms
one bedroom with a queen bed
one bedroom with 2 twin beds
Sofa in living room
One bathroom with tub/shower
Wi-fi Internet
Dining area
Small, well equipped Kitchen
New gas range and microwave
Earth-friendly cleaning practices
Flat screen TV with basic cable
DVD player with a collection of DVDs
CD player with a collection of CDs
Collection of books, games and puzzles
Off street parking for two vehicles
Covered patio with outdoor seating in small fenced yard

Guest access

We used bamboo furnishings throughout the place. See how many you can count.

Interaction with guests

We live two miles away and manage the Fertile Ground Guesthouse. Our friend, Derrick, lives in the duplex next door to the Bamboo Bungalow and he owns the place. He's very handy and friendly.

Other things to note

Derrick's yard is very eclectic and it has lots of different kinds of bamboo growing.

The Bamboo Bungalow is a delightful and comfortable place to stay if you are visiting Olympia. The pictures and description are all accurate. It is close to the wonderful San Francisco Bakery, a great place to walk to and have breakfast. It takes just minutes to get downtown, to restaurants by the water, and just a bit farther is the capitol.

My wife Jane and I recently stayed at Karen's "Bamboo Bungalow" while visiting our son in Olympia. We found the Bungalow to be a tranquil, impeccably clean, and comfortable retreat that we will definitely visit it again. Karen was most accommodating in resolving a reservations snag so that our stay was exactly what we had planned for. The Bungalow is very convenient to downtown Olympia while still providing a quiet retreat-like setting for relaxing. The grounds are artfully designed with planting a and driftwood though inclement weather prevented us from fully enjoying them. If you're in the market for a reasonably priced, restful retreat from the usual hotel experience, this is the place for you. Mike Duffy.

Our stay at the bamboo bungalow was very comfortable. The house was clean, cozy and had everything we needed for a short stay. The driftwood in the garden is lovely, and it was handy to have a bakery around the corner.

We really enjoyed staying at the Bamboo Bungalow. It was comfortable, clean and cozy. This is the first Airbnb rental where we have found more than the minimum number of towels! The neighborhood was quiet and we were just a short walk to the San Francisco Street Bakery. We would definitely stay again on our next visit to Olympia.

Karen was very communicative and the place was darling and comfy. The only concern was that I had to call to turn the hot water on but considering this was Thanksgiving she was quick to give directions over the phone. I plan on using her lovely bamboo bungalow again soon.
