The Bamboo Bungalow is a traveler's oasis in Olympia’s Northeast neighborhood. Just around the corner from the famous San Francisco Street Bakery, the Bungalow is one half of a cozy duplex. It is tucked into an exotic collection of living bamboo and treasures gathered from beaches and forests around Western Washington. The Bungalow is almost 2 miles north of downtown.

The space

The BB (as we call it) is situated in a friendly walk-able neighborhood. Just five short blocks away is the best bakery in town. Not only do they have great baked goods, but they have real food too. On the weekends they extend their service to include dinner. There's also a convenience store across the street from the bakery.

Just a 15 minute walk (or 3 minute drive) takes you down San Francisco Street to East Bay Drive. Breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains and Budd Inlet are visible all the way to the heart of downtown Olympia.

The Bungalow comfortably accommodates 4 guests with:
Two bedrooms
one bedroom with a queen bed

Sofa in living room
One bathroom with tub/shower
Wi-fi Internet

Small, well equipped Kitchen
New gas range and microwave

Guest access

We used bamboo furnishings throughout the place. See how many you can count.

Interaction with guests

We live two miles away and manage the Fertile Ground Guesthouse. Our friend, Derrick, lives in the duplex next door to the Bamboo Bungalow and he owns the place. He's very handy and friendly.

Other things to note

Derrick's yard is very eclectic and it has lots of different kinds of bamboo growing.

Gail's space is such a quiet, magic spot. The listing itself is small and cozy, and all four of us felt very comfortable there. Two of us shared the queen bed, and the other two slept happily and easily in the twin beds. The surrounding area is very peaceful, and the views from the hill of the boats in the bay were beautiful. I think the highlight may have been the fluffy bathrobes in both closets for all 4 of us, which we absolutely took advantage of while lounging around the bungalow with wine after decompressing from a busy weekend. Gail was communicative, check-in was a snap, parking was easy, and we had no issues during our stay. All in all, we would absolutely come back. Thank you for having us, Gail!

Comfortable bungalow with beautiful, peaceful garden. The weather got a bit chilly but the heating system worked very efficiently. We also had the pleasure of seeing two deer munching across the street. Pleasant stay!

We stayed at the bamboo bungalow with some old friends of ours who we hadn't seen for a while. It worked well for four adults, only downside was one couple (us) had to sleep separately in the twin beds. But the linens were fresh and clean as was the bathroom. The bungalow was well appointed. The bamboo bungalow is a great home away from home right near downtown Olympia. It has a very private patio for dining al Fresca or having coffee in the morning. There's an excellent bakery a couple of blocks away. It's a 5 min drive to everything: farmers market, the state capitol, food co-ops (there's two!), restaurants, marina, museums and more. It's just far enough away from it all to be pretty quiet. It's walking distance from all of the above (1.3-1.5 miles) if you don't mind a steep hill. We all enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we get a chance.

Beautiful, peaceful location. My colleagues and I loved staying here and will definitely book again next time we are in town.

The bungalow was perfect for a friend and I on a work trip. We are from Idaho and there was a crazy heat wave which wasn't the greatest with out AC but fans were provided and the location is tucked away and shady so it wasn't too bad. Highly recommended for 2 or 3 guests!
