If you are driving, Akureyri is on the ringroad and is a approx. 5 to 6 hours drive from Reykjavik. To stay in vaðlaheiði you need a car.
The property offers a quiet position and a great view.
It is a easy access to the center of Akureyri and the beautiful places in its surroundings.
This is a well equipped modern studio with a spectacular view and pretty close to Akureyri. We appreciated the sleek and minimalistic decor as well as the complimentary MAC computer that was stocked with music (very helpful), as well as the complimentary coffee and tea. The studio was very clean, bright and comfortable. The bed was very warm and it was great to wake up to a gorgeous day greeting us through the windows. The host responded to our questions quickly and throughly. I would happily stay here again and again.
The apartment was incredible! Great views of the town and nice modern interior.
Came into a bit of a predicament - we locked our self out. HOWEVER after a phone call, we were allocated into next door (more expensive apartment which came to no cost to us).
Very helpful, understanding and patient. Truly nice person to deal with. So on our behalf we say thank you for a pleasant stay.
This is an amazing and unique space! Very clean with a great view and everything you need for a couple nights!
The reservation was canceled 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Jórunn was very nice to accommodate us at the last minute. The studio is perched above the bay of Akureyri with a beautiful view of the city and water. It is also setup nicely with entertainment (computer/music/tv). Be advised that the driveway to the studio is difficult to navigate in snow without a 4x4. We thoroughly enjoyed our night here and hope to come back in the summer months.
Very nice place with a beautiful view on Akureyri. This stay allow us to view beautiful northern lights during our stay in Iceland.
Jórunn and Mirra were in Reykjavik at the time we stayed in this cool studio they had to offer. But their friend Anna helped us with checking in; which was a rather interesting story!
Our car got stuck in a ditch in the fresh snow nearby, but fortunately Anna and her friend picked us up along with our luggage and took us to the studio to call it a night. They were very nice to us to offer such assistance. On the very next morning, Mirra's grandpa came to help us pull out the car, tough man he is! We are only grateful to have such helpful hosts during our stay in Iceland!
The included facilities were pretty much complete to be self sufficient and we loved the music playlists which was in the included iMac in the studio. Water was nice and hot with heated flooring. Also, kitchen facilities were all well equipped so you'll be set from setting a meal to having a hot tea/coffee.
It was quite sad we got to stay there only for one night, it would've been nice to stay here much longer. Both inside and outside of the studio offers a pretty view. We would love to see how the place looks like in summer since it already looks beautiful in the winter!
Great Place. Funky architecture, cosy, comforable and stunning view. Please ask Jorunn to email the satellite pics on order to find the place. It might be hard to find without them. Very clean on arrival. We would very happily stay here again. There are 3 units. the smallest is on the north side, so good for spotting Northern Lights. In summer I would book the central or southern units which get more sunlight. Must have 4wd car in winter. Thanks to Anna who prepared the studio so well.
We loved staying in Jorunn's studio. It was beautiful and comfortable. However, a few basic things were lacking such as a reliable can opener (we borrowed one from the people who were staying in the cabin next door) and a wine bottle opener (we pried the cork out with a knife!). There were lots of free oranges though and good coffee, two very nice touches. I was a little disappointed to find that after driving over 6 hours in blizzard conditions, the space was not clean and ready for us and no one was there to settle us in. Soon after, though, her dad came and helped us get in and we got to stay in a larger suite that was clean and ready, so she did make a nice effort. Also, I was bummed that the WIFI went out on Christmas and I didn't get phone service there, so I was unable to talk to my family on Christmas. Lastly, the snow there was so heavy, we were trapped in the house for a couple days because we got stuck in the drive way. But again, her dad came to help us out. Ultimately, the stay was very nice and I felt Jorunn tried her best to make us comfortable though she wasn't available herself.
Great spot and Jorunn was quite helpful in checking in. The unit itself is small, but bright and clean. Great view across the water down to Akurei.
