Summer is in full-on sizzle in the San Juans! The snow-melt has provided an abundance of wildflowers, and the jeep and hiking trails are at their peak. This lovely timbered home is nestled at the foot of Log Hill Mesa at 7,000 ft. in the foothills of the dramatic San Juan Mountains, easily the most scenic area of Colorado. The home has 360 degree views of many fourteeners in the Cimarron Range and the Mt. Sneffels Range, plus lake and mesa views. The two available 2nd floor rooms are a queen and a somewhat larger room with twin beds and a private balcony. There is a private guest bath for each room and a guest laundry. This listing is for the Mexican Queen room. Check out our 2nd listing at: True Grit Rustic Retreat-Spruce Room.
You are 1/2 mi. to Ridgway State Park offering boating, fishing, swimming, biking and camping. Only 10 mins. to town, 20 mins. to the old mining town of Ouray, and 45 mins. to Telluride Ski Resort. Our rustic western town (where the film "True Grit" was made!) offers many dining options, a small grocery, a fine library, antique and retail shops, plus the restored Sherbino Theater offering movies and live musical entertainment. Did you know that Ridgway is the home of the Grammy Awards? They are handcrafted right here in town, and you can tour their workshop! We also have our own liquor distillery/pub, Trail Town Still, and The Colorado Boy Brew Pub, an award-winning brewer. There are two hot springs very close by; one is clothing optional:) Entertainment opportunities are myriad as this is a very artsy-fartsy community.

My husband & I are semi-retired and split our time between two residences. We are very active: skiing, biking, hiking, walking. We love the arts & enjoy the opera and theater in Tampa as well as museums. We are very social people and love to share our homes with new friends. Lysa (Elizabeth) is an adventurous cook, always looking for the next best recipe. Don loves to advise guests on what to see and do. It would be our pleasure to host you in the manner that suits, whether it be personal attentiveness or just letting you kick back and find your own way.
