  • We stayed in several houses during our stay in Bali, but Villa Aquamarine was definitely number one! It's looks better and bigger in real life than in the pictures, it's very clean and luxurious, and the sea view is spectacular. Not to mention the housekeeper Sudi, she's wonderful. This (email hidden) that we will remember our whole life. And by the way, the location of the villa, in Amed, is perfect too. It has a beautiful shoreline, nice hills, nice people and an authentic feel. Not too busy or crowded with tourists, but you'll find enough things to do and places to eat.

  • My husband and I visited Villa Aquamarine this May, and the experience was great. Allen was really helpful beforehand, quick to respond to emails and provided really useful information about the area. Sudi the housekeeper was absolutely lovely, so kind and helpful, and a good cook! The pictures of the villa do not do it justice - the place is amazing, so beautiful and relaxing. The best parts were the gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the ocean, the mesmerizing sunrises, and the total relaxation! The house and property are very well maintained, and the A/C worked in every room - important to me coming from Canada and used to much cooler temperatures!! Overall the best place we stayed in Bali, would love to go back again!

  • Our honeymoon experience in Bali was spectacular and our vacation would have been nothing without our stay at Villa Aquamarine. I'm not even sure I can capture the beauty, peace, serenity, or pure relaxation of Aquamarine in words alone. The photos do it no justice because there are not enough megapixels to capture the feeling you get when staying here. First off, the host, Allen, is very accommodating, excellent with communication, and cares that his guests are having an enjoyable time. We were very delayed with our flights in to Bali, but Allen was patient and arranged to have the driver, Ketut, waiting for us even at 1am. We were very appreciative of Allen's response to all of our requests and he provided suggestions where we needed them. The same can be said for his staff; they all pay great attention to detail to make sure you have the best possible stay. They are aware of your privacy needs and will adjust to be as available as you need or as invisible, whichever you prefer. For our honeymoon stay, we rarely noticed the gardener, though he was obviously hard at work because the grounds were kept immaculately. The villa is kept in great condition, tastefully decorated, and includes all of the amenities that you could desire. Though we tried not to use it, the wi-fi is great and we could even stream music from the pool! Major plus! The kitchen has every cooking utensil you could need, multiple french coffee presses, and adequate glassware for drinks, wines, etc. The master bedroom is a dream, nice and cool, with a huge bathroom. The water gets hot hot hot! The living room (email hidden) to hang out with A/C and quite a few cable channels. The outdoor patio is the perfect place to watch the sunrise and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea as you look out upon the fishing boats. We spent most of our days relaxing by the pool on the comfy sun chairs looking out to the ocean. The infinity pool is spacious and has a shallow area perfect for when you want to sunbathe, but it's a little to warm to lay on your chair. We frequently packed the cooler with some Bintangs and lounged for hours. Sudi, the housekeeper, chef, event planner, etc. really made our trip unforgettable. She prepared all sorts of dishes, fruits, and arranged for us to have crates of beer and bottles of wine delivered. We learned many Balinese/ Indonesian phrases that were helpful in our travels. The best part of the trip was when Sudi invited us to participate in a traditional wedding activity-- the roasting of a pig. Not for the faint of heart, we were able to participate in the process from start to finish (a lovely meal served at sunset). This experience was an unforgettable part of Balinese culture that was one of the highlights of our trip. As far as things to do, the world is...

  • Probably the most perfect holiday accommodation we have ever had.

This amazing, spacious villa is about 175 sq metres in size (pushing 2,000 sq feet). From the covered terrace a pretty garden drops about 10 metres down to a lovely, private infinity pool. It isn't huge but has a very clever design to accommodate toddlers and also enable you to sit on a ledge and gaze across the surface at the sea and the horizon. It is VERY neat. And I have never seen such clear water. The sea is about 15 metres below the pool, so you can watch any activity from a splendid vantage point. Superb.

Inside the villa is everything you need, big kitchen, huge en suite bathroom, spacious outdoor bathroom (be patient, the hot water arrives eventually). But the best feature is Sudi. She speaks decent English, she laughs and smiles, she is friendly and above all extremely helpful. First she organised our laundry, and then got us a scooter; very cheap at 50k per day, but no insurance. Having embraced the insurance risk, we dispensed with the hot, sweaty helmets! Just drive slowly, keep aware of people behind/over-taking and watch for pot holes!

You really do need some wheels to get around, and if you don't fancy the scooter, driver Ketut is at your service. Just call or email him, his details are in the villa.

There are plenty of roadside shops catering to the locals, but if you want more you have a 10-minute scooter ride to find these at Adi Shop, which is just over 4km (2.5 miles) towards Amed on your left. It has wine and spirits (expensive!), toiletries, snacks, tea, coffee, pasta, bread, butter, cereal and long-life milk. If you want to collect items on your arrival, it is about 5km after you get to Amed. You cross a longish, flat road bridge over a river, and Adi Shop is a couple of hundred metres after that on your right. You can't miss it and there is an ATM right outside. If that ATM doesn't work for you there are a couple more, 2.5km back towards Amed.

Sudi makes a great breakfast for 35k per person; eggs, cereal or pancakes with fresh fruit, toast, tea or coffee.

Our highlight was having dinner cooked by Sudi while watching the dusk draw in. We started at 6pm, because by 7.30 it's completely dark. We recommend the kerupuk (Indonesian crackers), satay chicken and fried bananas. You'll want a main course too. Dinner for two was 230k; ridiculous when you consider the effort she put in, so we gave Sudi a well deserved, big tip! It was amazing being served delicious food in our own private restaurant with the best view available!

A previous reviewer mentioned some maintenance issues; these have been rectified.

This villa is wonderful and outstanding value for money.

  • Villa Aquamarine with an 180 degree ocean view that is truly out of this world! We very nice days there. The place is beautiful, and there's nothing like awaiting the sunrise on the terrace ovelrooking the open sea. The water is crystal clear, so snorkelling from the private dock is perfect.
The kitchen has everything you need for daily cooking, the rooms are beautiful and spacious, nicely decorated and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful and you have all the privacy you want.
Altogether was a great experience which we hope to repeat soon.

  • Allen always replied quickly to emails and could not be faulted on his communication prior to arrival.

The stay at Villa Aquamarine - Sea Front Villa for 5 days and it was not what we had expected.

Our driver picked us up from Ubud and when on route Allen called to inform us that the second bedroom had a minor leak/water damange that was being repaired and that the room would have wet paint on arrival, as there was only 2 of us staying the second bedroom would not be used.

On arrival we were greeted by Sudi the house keeper/cook, Madi the ground keeper and later the villa manager. When being shown around the villa we were told that the pool was broken and could not be used, however we were given 2 options...

1/ To move into the shared (smaller) villa next door and use their shared pool
    or
2/ To stay where we were and just use to share pool next door. The shared pool was shared by 2 other properties.

After speaking to my wife we decided to stay where we were as we wanted the privacy and the amenities that we paid for.

After 3 days the pool was clean and safe to swim in, the TV was not watchable during our stay, Sudi informed us that it’s been broken for months the fault has been reported but has not been fixed. The DVDS are all scratched so watching movies also was not an option. The Wi-Fi was good but also not reliable as it too often dropped out and that was just playing online music.

The positives for the Villa were, the amazing view of the ocean, fishing boats and the other shipping traffic. Sudi the housekeeper/cook was amazing her cooking was delightful; her manner was pleasant and always willing to help or offer advice. The air conditioner was good and made sleeping enjoyable. Snorkelling from the bottom of the Villa is enjoyable and the sunken Japanese wreck is only 10 minutes walk away.

The Villa was tidy but general maintenance was lacking, the toilet off the entry door was leaking one day and Sudi said that the water had to be kept turned off; some of the tiled steps (going to the pool) are chipped/broken and need attention other than that the ground and plants are well kept.

The Villa is on a hill and is very steep anyone with limited movement or walking difficulties should reconsider this Villa. Villa Aquamarine has a steep drive before heading to 15 or so steps leading down to the entry door. From the Villa to the pool there would be 10 steps to the path (leading to the villa next door) but there are no steps or path to the pool itself from that point.

To travel around you do need a car, car with driver or a motorbike as its 6km from Amed and on very hilly roads.

  • The villa is kept clean and we can enjoy panoramic view. We can see sunrise and the place is quite calm and serene. The housekeeper Sudi was of great help as she went to the supermarket to buy the things that we wanted to cook. However during my stay, we had blackout about 3 times but it was recovered in about 3 mins. We didnt enjoy watching television as we had almost 90% disruptions over all the channels that the villa had. The television is quite small though for a big villa. We also had problems with the VCD that thy had in the villa. We can't watch as most of the VCDs was scratched. The WIFI was super slow. It took me 3 hours to complete a 45 mins of drama. The aircon in the master room was noisy. You can't feel the aircon in the other room. So the fan had to be switched on at the same time.

    Response from Allen:

Unfortunately, there are power outages from time to time. We've checked the air con and it is working well. The bedroom air con has been noisy and is repaired now (thanks for the(website hidden). The wifi is free and can support surfing and general email and (website hidden) activity. Surely, it will be challenging to download video as we are in a remote area with limited bandwidth. I am not sure about the satellite TV -it was working fine when I checked last week. Scratched DVDs - tragedy of the commons.... I appreciate the feedback and we do our best to correct anything that might not be working to expectation.

  • We just got home from our stay in Bali . Villa Aquamarine (Sea Front) is absolutely gorgeous.

The Amed area is tranquil, almost rural, and has a relaxed vibe overall - Seafront fits in well, with a beautiful infinity pool, welcoming vibe and great staff.

We travelled with our two young children and they loved the place. Awesome home-cooked meals are available and the driver is a wealth of knowledge about the area.

The snorkelling right off the side of the house is amazing and its incredible to just relax and look out at the ocean .. we even watched the sunrise from our bed!

The owners are very easy to deal with and communication is prompt and friendly. We loved it.

    Highly recommended!
