The space

Secluded self-catering accommodation in rural Te Horo - right here on Te Rauparaha's Kapiti Coast.

Set among mature trees on a small farmlet, the cosy little cottage has its own private deck and lawn with a brazier and outdoor table, chairs and hammock.

Sheep and cattle graze up to the surrounding fences. The paddocks and trees are home to pukeko, rabbits, kereru, kotare, tui, fantails, waxeyes and rosellas.

The Cottage has a fully self-catering kitchen with oven and fridge. There is also an open pantry with breakfast cereals.

Double Bed in main room and Single Mattress in Loft accessed by ladder..

Portacot and Highchair available if necessary.

Laundry facility.

Borrow the bikes and perambulate to the nearby river and beach. Tramp and trek through the Tararua ranges. Hunt for treasure at the many Kapiti Geocaching sites round Otaki & Te Horo. (check out the Geocaching website). Take the Golf clubs for a swing...

The Totara Grove is the ideal romantic getaway or, literally, the perfect Writer's Garret.

Great cafes and outlet shopping in Otaki 6km away. Pumpkin Patch, Hunting & Fishing, Icebreaker, Kathmandu, The Merino Outlet.

Fresh seasonal local produce, sausages and breads at the Farmer's Markets.

Museums, Golfcourse, Otaki Maori Race Club and historic Maori Rangiatea Church.

The Totara Grove is 10 mins from Waikanae Metro rail head; 25 mins from Paraparaumu Airport & only an hour's drive from Wellington or Palmerston North.

Check out the Metlink bus timetables from Waikanae to Otaki.

Pick ups and drop offs from Otaki i-SITE negotiable.

Access to the Tararua section of the Te Araroa Trail - New Zealand's longest walk - at Otaki Forks is 11 km away. Pick ups and drop offs negotiable. Packs can be transported to Levin or Waikanae for an extra fee.

Lovely little warm cottage nestled in a tunnel of trees. Great selection of music and literature to wile away the evening. When you decide to go out, the Tararuas or the beach are meer minutes away.

Fantastic location, and a really quiet and peaceful setting. The cabin is great and has lots of nice little spaces to spend time. Close to beaches and the Otaki forest. We would definitely stay again.
