Cozy and colorful private room in downtown SLC

The space

Welcome! We have shared accommodation, as well as private guest rooms to serve you!

Accommodation: Queen sized bed in the Salt Lake City Downtown Neighborhood--right in the middle of all that's weird and wonderful about Salt Lake City.

Your bed is the Garden View Room, on the upper level of the main house. There is a full bath and kitchen. We have a large garden, sun-room and patio complete with fire-pit and grill as well as indoor commons area. We invite you to hang out anywhere and as much as you like.

Come enjoy Salt Lake City, a cornucopia of funky and independent shops, galleries, bars & restaurants as well as large scale shopping centers and grocers. We've got amazing breweries; Epic, Uinta, Wasatch, Squatters, amazing Thai at Chanon Thai, several incredible pizzerias such as Settebello's Napolitana pizza, Tulie's French bakery, the delicious Banbury Cross Donuts, all within a few blocks. Catch a flick at the Broadway theatre, live music at the Urban Lounge or a show at Capitol Theater.

We have frequent block sized art gallery strolls. Check to see if there's one during your stay. Downtown Farmer's Market is every Saturday and Liberty Park Farmers market is every Friday from June until October. You'll see washboard bands, teen violinists, bicycle pianos, Native American drumming circles at Liberty Park, fab art and funky attire all within walking distance of our front door.

Portions of the Urban farm are dedicated to well... farming. Feel free to check out our quirky birds and see what the garden is growing. Also, we are pet friendly!

We are on several major bus lines, one block from the Trax free zone and one block from a designated city bike share route. By car we are 10 minutes from the airport, City Creek Mall, Temple Square and the Salt Palace Convention Center.

Guests should expect fresh linens and towels, complimentary coffee, homemade freezer jam, fresh free-range organic chicken eggs, complimentary (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) FIBER Wifi.

Lastly, this is a full home. It is likely you will see other guests and housemates. We do our best to accommodate everyone. As such we have among the lowest rates in town. I will say that our home is not the Ritz. If you expect that then you will be disappointed. We've been told we have a hostel feel. This is the feel we are going for and these are the types of guests we hope to attract. If you are going to be rude or critical of our home then please book at a hotel. If you are going to be down to earth, friendly, respectful and communicative then we do our best to do the same and we would love to host you :)

If you need an additional twin bed let me know a week prior to your arrival and I can put it in the room

Guest access

We have coded entry. Door code will be provided upon booking. Feel free to park on the street but watch for any no parking signs. There is also one little parking drive in front of the house.

Interaction with guests

We are open and friendly to interact with guests. Engage with us and we are likely to engage back :) Please know that we are not traveling as you are. We are here living our day to day. If we seem busy it is not because we are ignoring you or unfriendly, but likely just distracted. We will always try our best to say hi.

Other things to note

Also, we are pet friendly!

If you need a left-behind item shipped out to you, the cost is a minimum of $20 for my time, plus any shipping costs.

It's exactly how they advertise it. Hostel-ish. It's very ecclectic. And a little rough around the edges, but it's got a good heating/cooling system (we stayed in the colorful garden room) and the bed was comfortable and bedding was clean. We weren't there much, and it was a "keep to yourself" type of atmosphere in my opinion. I imagine that might change if the guests are more young adult/college age. I would recommend staying here if you're on a tight budget as it's definitely a good value!

Brent was a great host! Our room was very comfortable and I enjoyed the claw foot tub. I've never had such a cozy bed with an airbnb. Lived-in but not in a bad way at all! The kitties were kind and cuddly too :)

Had a real fun time in Salt Lake City! Brent's place is located walking distance to groceries, and a city bike share kiosk. Biked around pretty much everywhere in the dead of summer without much problems. The room was clean and bathroom had all basic amentities. The cats were pretty cool too, and I'm a dog guy!

I have been in Salt Lake City for 5 years now. For fun, I build furniture, restore things, travel, snowboard/ski, cook, garden and enjoy being social. I have a flock of fowl and two cuddly cats.

I want you to feel at home so I'll do what I can to prepare you for a comfortable and easy stay. I'll help with any questions you may have of the city or neighborhood.

I speak Italian and Spanish. I speak French at intermediate level.

In life, I believe in communication, respect and freedom.
