Cozy and colorful private room in downtown SLC
Welcome! We have shared accommodation, as well as private guest rooms to serve you!
Accommodation: Queen sized bed in the Salt Lake City Downtown Neighborhood--right in the middle of all that's weird and wonderful about Salt Lake City.
Your bed is the Colorful Room, on the upper level of the main house. There is a full bath and kitchen. We have a large garden, sun-room and patio complete with fire-pit and grill as well as indoor commons area. We invite you to hang out anywhere and as much as you like.
Come enjoy Salt Lake City downtown...it's a cornucopia of funky and independent shops, galleries, bars & restaurants as well as large scale shopping centers and grocers. We've got amazing breweries; Epic, Uinta, Wasatch, Squatters, amazing Thai at Chanon Thai, several incredible pizzerias such as Settebello's Napoliana style pizza, a tea shop, 2 French bakeries, the delicious Banbury Cross Donuts, all within a few blocks. Catch a flick at the Broadway theatre, live music at the Urban Lounge or a show at Capitol Theater.
We have frequent block sized art gallery strolls. Check to see if there's one during your stay. Downtown Alliance Farmer's Market is every Saturday from June until October. You'll see washboard bands, teen violinists, bicycle pianos, Native American drumming circles at Liberty Park, fab art and funky attire all within walking distance of our front door.
Portions of the Urban farm are dedicated to well... farming. Feel free to check out our quirky birds and see what the garden is growing. Also, we are pet friendly!
We are on several major bus lines, one block from the Trax free zone and one block from a designated city bike share route. By car we are 10 minutes from the airport, City Creek Mall, Temple Square and the Salt Palace Convention Center.
Feel free to stay as long as you like...we want our home to feel like home to you while you're here!

Lastly, this is a full home. It is likely you will see other guests and housemates. We do our best to accommodate everyone. As such we have among the lowest rates in town. I will say that our home is not the Ritz. If you expect that then you will be disappointed. We've been told we have a hostel feel. This is the feel we are going for and these are the types of guests we hope to attract. If you are going to be rude or critical of our home then please book at a hotel. If you are going to be down to earth, friendly, respectful and communicative then we do our best to do the same and we would love to host you :)
If you need an additional twin bed let me know a week prior to your arrival and I can put it in the room
We have coded entry. Door code will be provided upon booking. Feel free to park on the street but watch for any no parking signs. There is also one little parking drive in front of the house. Alternatively you may park in our backyard lot. Access is to the south of the house adjacent to us and then around back.
Interaction with Guests
We are open and friendly to interact with guests. Engage with us and we are likely to engage back :) Please know that we are not traveling as you are. We are here living our day to day. If we seem busy it is not because we are ignoring you or unfriendly, but likely just distracted. We will always try our best to say hi.
We are so close to everything. I love being able to walk everywhere I need to go.
Other Things to Note
Also, we are pet friendly!
Deadbolts to the house are to be locked upon entry and exit.
If keys are not returned it is a $20 charge
Mutual respect is all that is asked. Let us know if we can accommodate you in any way.
House specifics are located in the kitchen.
Brent was very accommodating as we arrived late and booked last minute. Cool house, farm and cat, the room we stayed in was very hot but that was the only downside. Great, fresh eggs in the morning!

Brent is an awesome guy! My parents from China visited Salt Lake City to explore the culture there and Brent was very friendly and helpful! My parents had a great time chatting with Brent and staying in the nicely decorated colorful room. The location is very convenient for hang out in the downtown! The organic eggs were fresh and tasty toooooo!
Brent was very welcoming when we arrived, showed us around and let us have time to settle in. We went on to have a brilliant evening with him and other guests/friends. Brent was really helpful the whole time we stayed and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The room was as described and very comfortable, feeling extra homely with the cats wandering around.
Was back for a 3rd? 4th? return visit this year. So long as my work keeps sending me to SLC, I'll be coming back. See you next year (get those margaritas ready for me)!
It was accurate: the room was colorful and the house included a lot of fun art. The neighborhood is about a block from Trolley Square, a mix of historic houses and small apartment buildings. Easy to come and go, it was what I needed for a busy weekend.
