Come enjoy Salt Lake City downtown...it's a cornucopia of funky and independent shops, galleries, bars & restaurants as well as large scale shopping centers and grocers. We've got amazing breweries; Epic, Uinta, Wasatch, Squatters, amazing Thai at Chanon Thai, several incredible pizzerias such as Settebello's Napoliana style pizza, a tea shop, 2 French bakeries, the delicious Banbury Cross Donuts, all within a few blocks. Catch a flick at the Broadway theatre, live music at the Urban Lounge or a show at Capitol Theater.
We have frequent block sized art gallery strolls. Check to see if there's one during your stay. Downtown Alliance Farmer's Market is every Saturday from June until October. You'll see washboard bands, teen violinists, bicycle pianos, Native American drumming circles at Liberty Park, fab art and funky attire all within walking distance of our front door.
Portions of the Urban farm are dedicated to well... farming. Feel free to check out our quirky birds and see what the garden is growing. Also, we are pet friendly!

Lastly, this is a full home. It is likely you will see other guests and housemates. We do our best to accommodate everyone. As such we have among the lowest rates in town. I will say that our home is not the Ritz. If you expect that then you will be disappointed. We've been told we have a hostel feel. This is the feel we are going for and these are the types of guests we hope to attract. If you are going to be rude or critical of our home then please book at a hotel. If you are going to be down to earth, friendly, respectful and communicative then we do our best to do the same and we would love to host you :)
If you need an additional twin bed let me know a week prior to your arrival and I can put it in the room
We have coded entry. Door code will be provided upon booking. Feel free to park on the street but watch for any no parking signs. There is also one little parking drive in front of the house. Alternatively you may park in our backyard lot. Access is to the south of the house adjacent to us and then around back.
Interaction with Guests
We are open and friendly to interact with guests. Engage with us and we are likely to engage back :) Please know that we are not traveling as you are. We are here living our day to day. If we seem busy it is not because we are ignoring you or unfriendly, but likely just distracted. We will always try our best to say hi.
We are so close to everything. I love being able to walk everywhere I need to go.
We are right by the library station for Trax. There are major bus lines and urban bicycle shares nearby as well!
Other Things to Note
Also, we are pet friendly!
Deadbolts to the house are to be locked upon entry and exit.
If keys are not returned it is a $20 charge
Mutual respect is all that is asked. Let us know if we can accommodate you in any way.

The stay with Brent was great! Brent is very easygoing and super friendly. The room was clean and cozy, and the location is good for wondering around the city. My train was scheduled at late night, Brent let me put my luggage and hang out at his house after I checked out. I really appreciated it.
We stayed here for one night on our way through Salt Lake City to Yellowstone. There are pros and cons to this place:
Pros: Brent is very friendly, a great communicator, and a pleasure to work with during your planning. His home is located in a great area, just walking distance from the Trolley Stop area of shops, and includes off-street parking options (we used the little paved spot just in front of the house). The room was quiet and the keyless entry via security code made coming and going very easy. Doors to the room and bathroom also locked which is always a plus.
Cons: the house was not as clean as we had hoped: we found cat hair on the sheets, a dirty towel on the bathroom floor, and dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. Brent had also mentioned we could keep food in the fridge, but it was so packed full there was no space for us. Also, finding the house at night, after dark, was a little tough, as we could not see the turquoise dense and the house number is on the front steps, not the house.
My husband and I have used Airbnb for several years - we are in our mid 40's and have certain expectations for cleanliness and safety. So please keep our standards in mind when you book here.
Last note, it was obvious that efforts to make guests welcome and to keep the house in good order are being made (as evidenced by a large black board in the kitchen with notes for guests, and a cleaning schedule on the front of the fridge), so it's possible we just caught the location at a bad time.
I stayed in the Colorful Room for 4 days, July 2015. This room was nothing short of spectacular, full of art, beauty and rich readings (I spent much more time in my room than I planned for!). The house was very welcoming and warm, with all the little things thought of for a comfortable stay. Brent was a wonderful host, a nice balance of respecting your space as a guest, and being there to help with any need. It was a rejuvenating crash pad for me while visiting for a wedding, and the room was equipped with work desk and wifi that allowed me to get a lot of inspired work done for my graduate studies during my stay. I will definitely be back!
Brent is a genuine guy with a laid back, welcoming attitude. He made me and my friends feel very comfortable sharing his house. The room was cozy and the eggs were great. Grazie mille, Brent!
Staying at Brent"s urban farm was a great adventure!! Met other
wonderful people passing thru and Brent was a great host.
I would stay again in a minute. Not fancy, just feels like home!
