The space

'Burren Farm Cottages' offers accommodations in two separate self catering cottages, just 2.5 miles from the village of Kilfenora in County Clare, adjacent to the world famous Burren Region, with its spectacular landscape and rare plant life.

'The Old Farmhouse' is located on our family run dairy farm in the heart of the Irish countryside, while the other cottage, 'Green Meadows', is less than a mile from our family farm.

These self catering accommodations are suitable for people seeking peace and tranquility, but also families with children. The children are welcome to take part in milking the cows, or to collect the breakfast eggs.

The area is peaceful and relaxing, but within easy reach of a wide variety of amenities and attractions. We provide information folders and the Jim Robinson map in each cottage.

From Kilfenora, you can drive right through the heart of the Burren to the Aillwee Cave and Ballyvaughan. From there you can follow the coast road via the beaches of Fanore to the fishing village of Doolin, famous for it's traditional Irish music sessions and day trips to the Aran Islands. Not to be missed, just south of Doolin, are the Cliffs of Moher and a couple of miles on, you will arrive in Lahinch with it's beautiful beach and championship golf course. Carry on to Corofin and from there back to Kilfenora and you have never been more than 10 miles away from Kilfenora village.

If you like fishing, Lickeen Lake is nearby as is Inchiquin Lake at Corofin. And again, within a less than 10 mile radius, you have the whole Atlantic coastline to your disposal.

In the evenings you can enjoy traditional Irish music and set dancing in Kilfenora and we'll be happy to teach you a few steps, so you can join in yourself.

On arrival, you are welcomed with home baking and you are always welcome to visit our home for a cup of tea and a chat.

Looking forward to seeing you!

The Burren Farm Cottages are situated on the edge of the world famous Burren region, which is an unspoiled part of Ireland. Here in the Burren, the bare exposed limestone which is up to 780 metres in thickness, covers an area of 250 square kilometres. Great slabs of rock are almost as flat and undisturbed as they were when they were formed in the warm shallow seas of the Carboniferous ocean 340 million years ago. The Burren does not mean barren; people have settled here since Stone Age times. Evidence of their habitations and tombs are all around you.
The unusual flora of the Burren has attracted huge interest and attention over the years. Rare and spectacular plants grow in abundance throughout this unique limestone region. Unusual butterflies and moths feed on the flora and the hazel scrub. Pine forests give cover to the larger animals including Pine Marten.

Super clean home which accommodated 8 of us (children and adults) very well. Kitchen had everything we needed for self catering. Marian and Martin are lovely hosts. Highly recommend.

Marian and Martin represent Irish hospitality at its best. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Our two families have small children, and Marian and Martin took time out of their busy schedule to show all of us the dairy farm. They let the children milk cows, ride in the tractor, and visit the garden to help create a memorable experience in the Irish countryside. We cannot recommend this place enough. The house was clean and extremely spacious. It's great for two families... both of our families are two adults and two children. Kilfenora is a great town with a lively nightlife. Linane's pub has traditional music on Wednesdays and Vaughan's across the street has Irish set dancing on Sundays. The town is also close to Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher, and ferries to the Aran Islands.

This was absolutely our favorite home we stayed in when we traveled around Ireland. Marian and Martin we wonderful hosts and the child in our group loved helping with the cows. The home made us feel comfortable and had everything we needed. Would highly recommended this place!!

Our hosts could not have been more welcoming. They were intelligent and knew the right balance between friendly conversation and leaving us to ourselves. They had a wise and informed perception on a wide variety of subjects. They gave us milk from their own cows, fresh free-range eggs and home-made bread. The photographs on Airbnb don't do the place justice. It's very roomy, spotlessly clean, with effective central heating and loads of hot water.

I will start right out by stating what a perfect place this modernized farmhouse was for our group of five adults' visit to the beautiful Burren in County Clare. The comfortable house had all we needed. Martin and Marian, who live adjacent, could not have been more welcoming. They were great resources for ideas & maps for Burren hiking trails and spectacular sites to visit on the coast (conveniently close by). Some of our many highlights: fresh-baked brown bread and eggs, sharing our interests in set-dancing & trad music, and of course, swapping yarns. Clearly, we should have booked for longer than three nights. All in all, being at Marian and Martin's farm made for a grand stay in the west of Ireland!

If you are looking to explore more of the west coast than the Burren and surrounding area, you might wish to find someplace closer to a major road. However, if you are interested in the Burren or getting away from it all, this comfortable, spacious farmhouse is a treat and will lull you into a softer pace of life. Here, you will find peace, deep quiet, and stunning walks. You will enjoy the artisanal local products, traditional Irish music, milk fresh from the cow and, perhaps, something fresh from Marian's oven. As hosts, Martin and Marian are engaging and generous both with the products of their farm, as well as stories about farming life and the local community. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

This was our second time staying with Marian and Martin. They are simply two of the most wonderful people we have ever met. We previously spent a year traveling around the world, and their farm is the only place we went back for another visit. I'm certain we'll back a third time before too long. Great people, beautiful/immaculate house, terrific proximity to sights in County Clare, beautiful landscape make for an ideal spot.

Marian And Martin User ProfileMarian And Martin is a superhost.

Hi, we're Marian and Martin, we have our own Dairy farm here in Kilfenora Co. Clare. When we're not milking cows, we're set dancing or walking in the Burren. We love traditional music, baking bread, socializing with wonderful friends and local characters. We also love natural history and local heritage, and are keen to share this with our visitors.
