I'm a potter in Westminster West, Vermont. My cozy little home is available whenever I'm away. The house is at the end of a beautiful dirt road, about 15 minutes north of Putney Village. The trailhead to the Pinnacle hiking trail is around the corner from the driveway (see pics).

The space
The house has an open floor plan with a large living room and dining room area that connects with the kitchen. There is a loft over the kitchen with a queen bed (you will need to climb a ladder to get to the loft). The bathroom has a shower with a clawfoot tub. The house is cozy but rustic and it's definitely way out in the woods. As with any house out in the woods in Vermont some interaction with wildlife can be expected, so if seeing a few lady bugs is going to ruin your vacation this is not going to be a good fit for you.

Guest access
The kitchen, dining/living room area, loft, and bathroom are all available to guests. There is a comfortable sofa in the living room. There is a big dining table and a large yard and garden area with outdoor seating and a hammock (in the summertime). The property is located on ten private acres, with extensive hiking/skiing areas surrounding the property.

Other things to note
The house is at the end of a long, winding, rural, dirt road. Once you make a reservation I will send you a link to a document with very detailed directions from exit 4 off of route 91 in Putney. Directions include a picture of where you make every turn, along with a natural food co-op, restaurants, a swimming hole and hiking trails that you'll pass by on the way to the house. By the time you get to the house you'll have enough landmarks to make a weekend of it.

It is very unlikely that your cell phone will work while you are at the house, but you are welcome to make and receive calls (within the US) using the landline while you are here. The number for the landline will be printed on the file with directions to the house. There is high speed wireless internet. Certain social media messengers have worked as a more reliable alternative to texting while at the house because they work through the internet and not through cell towers.

In the winter you will definitely need 4 wheel drive and/or really good snow tires. There is a steep hill to get to the house, so a two wheel drive car with regular tires isn't going to cut it. For the first four years I lived here I drove a VW Golf with good snow tires and I was fine (because I'm used to driving in the snow). If you're visiting during the winter and not used to driving in the snow I'd stick with 4-wheel drive AND snow tires or plan visit during a different time of year.

There is incredible wildlife, hiking, and cross-country skiing nearby. Putney village is about 15 minutes away. Putney has a wonderful theatre with live shows, a natural food co-op, a fantastic farm-to-table restaurant (the Gleanery), pick-your-own orchard (Green Mountain Orchard), and about everything else you could dream up for a perfect Vermont getaway. Burdick's restaurant is just a little over 20 minutes away in Walpole, Nh and (after the Gleanery) has the best fancy brunch you could hope for. Brattleboro is a pretty bustling little city, and just under thirty minutes away. There's a great art deco theatre, huge food co-op, an art museum, large farmer's market on Saturdays (from May through October), and tons of shopping.

Hello. I'm a potter. I've been living in Westminster West, Vermont for about 8 years. I'm an avid hiker and gardener. My cozy little home in the woods is available whenever I'm away. I've put a lot of love and attention into making the house a peaceful and comfortable spot, and I'm happy that it's being used while I'm away. I hope guests will feel at home while they are there, and rejuvenated when they leave. I'd love for people to make it a repeat destination, so if there is anything I can do to make the stay easier or more comfortable I'm all ears.

During your stay
I will be the main person that you will communicate with and I will be available (via phone/text/email) to answer any questions you may have while you're at the house. I also have a helper person on the ground who can be reached if for some reason you aren't able to get in touch with me. When you arrive there will be some instructions for house stuff on the counter.

If you have any questions about the house or your trip please feel free to send me a message before making a reservation. I'm happy that the house can be used while I'm away. It is an incredibly peaceful spot and I hope it will give guests some comfort and a little break from the outside world. The house also means a lot to me, so I hope guests will keep in mind that this is a pretty nice person's very favorite thing, and treat it as gently as you would your own home.
