The Space

This large room has a full bed, a desk, a comfortable chair and a vintage armoire to store your stuff. It is in a charming 1930 family home, there is one other airbnb rental on the first floor. In between the two bedrooms is a lovely bathroom. The family lives in upstairs bedrooms, so our guests have the downstairs hall to themselves.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, comfortable back patio, or living room if you want to hang out.
We are a friendly local couple, and are happy to suggest local destinations. We are interested in sustainability, and if you want, breakfast can include fresh eggs from out 3 backyard hens, or you are welcome to have an apple from the urban orchard in the yard. We recycle and compost.
The home is close to the California Avenue shopping district, which has a CalTrain station, a grocery, and many restaurants. We are a short walk to a two screen movie theatre at Palo Alto Square. We have a free shuttle services close to our house, the Margarite, run by Stanford University, and are close to the Santa Clara county 22 bus line that runs all the way down to San Jose. We are 5 minutes from Stanford University, or down town Palo Alto by car.

  • We stayed at Kirsten and Frank's place for a short time as we relocated to the Bay Area, before we found our own place.
The Flynns are a very helpful, nice and open host family in a lovely little house near Camino Real.
We stayed in the room as a couple, which worked well (there isn't tons of storage space, though, if you are 2 and relocated with several bags or suitcases). The bathroom is very nice and clean (we shared with another long-time tenant), and we occasionally used the well equipped kitchen. The garden is lovely and green, and there is a cozy hot tub on the patio.

We can definitely recommend the place for anybody who needs a short-to-mid term stay near Stanford. The house is perfectly situated near the campus (easy bike distance), but remote enough to have some peace and privacy (you don't really hear the Camino). Kirsten and Frank are perfect hosts and extremly helpful.

  • I stayed 3 weeks at Kirsten's and Frank's home and I enjoyed it very much. They are both very considerate. The best thing was: On my first day, the bike I could borrow from them (really nice!) got a flat tire, and Frank fixed it before I went to work next day (absolutely amazing!). I also enjoyed very much to use the hot tub, and I was glad they have a large washing machine for all my laundry of the 3 weeks stay.
The room is very comfortable and clean, exactly as in the pictures.

  • I spent 3 weeks at Kirsten and Frank's home. I really enjoyed talking with Frank and Kirsten. They are very friendly and and try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I had the small room which was very comfortable. The nice thing was that the guests' rooms were in the first floor separate than the host. So you have your own private room. I really enjoyed the quite environment that they created for their guests. My stay there was for business so I didn't have time to spend my day time there but the breakfast was there always and the coffee was ready. Overall my stay there was great. Kirsten and Frank make you feel you are at your own home.

  • Kirsten are the best host you can imagine and the house is a cozy and lovely place, if you are looking for a longterm stay in California. I can only give my very best recommendations!

  • Kirsten and Frank offered a friendly and warm environment in which to work during the month of April. I spent 4 weeks with the Flynns while I completed my qualifying exams at Stanford. The room was spacious with beautiful light, the bathroom clean and airy, and the backyard an idyllic haven in the middle of Palo Alto. Kirsten and Frank are extremely generous, outgoing, caring, and kind, and made my stay easy and comfortable. I feel very grateful to them for making what could have been a stressful time enjoyable!! Also, the location could not have been better. I biked to campus everyday (less than 15 min bike ride), and easily biked to supermarkets, yoga, the train station, and California Ave (with wonderful farmer's market on Sunday). I highly recommend this listing, and would absolutely stay again. Also, it is the best rate you will find in the area!!

  • It's great to know Frank and Kirsten. They are very friendly and helpful. It was two great weeks for me and my wife to stay in their transitionally decorated amazing house for our first Airbnb experience. The room is very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend people to book their place and know them, especially for people who come to the bay area for the first time. Congrats, you will know much more than you expected from the California couple!

About
I am a life long Californian, a mom, and a designer. I love gardening, my family and my work. I am a passionate environmentalist, and I am afraid you will HAVE to recycle while you stay with us. I think life should be fun, and that people should be kind to each other. I am an interior designer, and run my business out of my home. My husband, Frank is in high tech, big data, if that means anything to you. He is a great resource if you are interested in the local Silicon Valley scene. We have 3 kids, 2 of which are at college most of the time.
