This large room has a full bed, a desk, a comfortable chair and a vintage armoire to store your stuff. It is in a charming 1930 family home, there is one other airbnb rental on the first floor. In between the two bedrooms is a lovely bathroom. The family lives in upstairs bedrooms, so our guests have the downstairs hall to themselves.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, comfortable back patio, or living room if you want to hang out.
We are a friendly local couple, and are happy to suggest local destinations. We are interested in sustainability, and if you want, breakfast can include fresh eggs from out 3 backyard hens, or you are welcome to have an apple from the urban orchard in the yard. We recycle and compost.
The home is close to the California Avenue shopping district, which has a CalTrain station, a grocery, and many restaurants. We are a short walk to a two screen movie theatre at Palo Alto Square. We have a free shuttle services close to our house, the Margarite, run by Stanford University, and are close to the Santa Clara county 22 bus line that runs all the way down to San Jose. We are 5 minutes from Stanford University, or down town Palo Alto by car.
Interaction with Guests
We are friendly people and like to get to know our guests a bit, but always give you privacy when you prefer it.
Quiet hours are between 11 pm and 7 am. Ask if you need a bike while you are here, we are in a bike friendly neighborhood, and will try and have one available for you. Please recycle and compost. Guests are fine, but not more than 4-5 days out of the month, so long as quiet hours are observed. Please let us know of any food preferences, we would like to make sure you have something you like in the house to eat. Please put the fan on for 1/2 hour after using the shower. No smoking at all inside the house. We are happy to pick up at the local transit center, depending on arrival schedules.
Kirsten and her family immediately made me feel comfortable and right at home. They were so friendly (while being respectful of privacy), interesting to chat with, and helpful with ideas on what to see and do. The bedroom and bathroom were just as described, and the bed very comfortable. The neighbourhood is very safe and bike-friendly, and great public transport plus the provided bike made it very easy to go anywhere.
Enjoyed my stay with a traditional cool Californian family! Kirsten was very helpful and lent me a bike for my stay enabling me to get around really easily without a car. The bathroom is warm and clean. The house is in a good safe neighbourhood and there are many good places to eat within walking distance and a train station at California Ave not too far away. I hope to return one day.
The stay was incredibly great! The bedroom is comfortable and quite, the bathroom is clean and cool, like Hilton type, strongly recommended, this is the type you won't regret! The host was not only welcome but also very knowledgable, we talked about the Silicon Valley tech trend, Stanford U, and even sustainable energy. Thanks for them, I would definitely stay with them again next time!
Very kind and welcoming family. Felt comfortable immediately. The room and bathroom were neat and clean. No complaints!
My stay at Kirsten's house was really nice. She was very welcoming, answered all my emails quickly and came to pick me up at the Caltrain station although I got in late due to a missed flight. The room was nice and cozy and I had everything I needed. She also provided me with a bicycle which allowed me to come and go easily. I really enjoyed the hot tub which I used every night after my long days of training. Overall I would totally recommend this house!
I stayed here for ca. 10 weeks and the experience was fantastic. The room is very nice and Kirsten and her family are very friendly and helpful. A wonderful experience.
Kirsten and her husband have been extremely efficient and welcoming. I only stayed for two nights, but they made me feel at home instantly. Nice room, exactly as pictured. Very well located in PA. Coffee ready in the Morning! Great Airbnb experience. I would go again!

I am a life long Californian, a mom, and a designer. I love gardening, my family and my work. I am a passionate environmentalist, and I am afraid you will HAVE to recycle while you stay with us. I think life should be fun, and that people should be kind to each other.
I am an interior designer, and run my business out of my home. My husband, Frank is in high tech, big data, if that means anything to you. He is a great resource if you are interested in the local Silicon Valley scene. We have 3 kids, 2 of which are at college most of the time.
We rent their rooms out while they are gone, and really enjoy our guests. We love sharing our beautiful area, and hope that staying with our family gives our guests a feeling of being at home in Silicon Valley.
