About This Listing
This large room has a full bed, a desk, a comfortable chair and a vintage armoire to store your stuff. It is in a charming 1930 family home, there is one other airbnb rental on the first floor. In between the two bedrooms is a lovely bathroom. The family lives in upstairs bedrooms, so our guests have the downstairs hall to themselves.
We are a friendly local couple, and are happy to suggest local destinations. We are interested in sustainability, and if you want, breakfast can include fresh eggs from out 5 backyard hens, or you are welcome to have an apple from the urban orchard in the yard. We recycle and compost.
The home is close to the California Avenue shopping district, which has a CalTrain station, a grocery, and many restaurants. We are a short walk to a two screen movie theatre at Palo Alto Square. We have a free shuttle services close to our house, the Margarite, run by Stanford University, and are close to the Santa Clara county 22 bus line that runs all the way down to San Jose. We are 5 minutes from Stanford University, or down town Palo Alto by car.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, comfortable back patio, or living room if you want to hang out.
Interaction with Guests
We are friendly people and like to get to know our guests a bit, but always give you privacy when you prefer it.
Other Things to Note
There is a housecleaner that comes on Friday at around 10 am, so you might hear them in the bath or common areas. If you would like your room vacuumed on this day, please leave your door open.
Quiet hours are between 11 pm and 7 am. Ask if you need a bike while you are here, we are in a bike friendly neighborhood, and will try and have one available for you. Please recycle and compost. Guests are fine, but not more than 4-5 days out of the month, so long as quiet hours are observed. Please let us know of any food preferences, we would like to make sure you have something you like in the house to eat. Please put the fan on for 1/2 hour after using the shower. No smoking at all inside the house. We are happy to pick up at the local transit center, depending on arrival schedules.
Nice and cozy room, soft and comfortable bed, clean bathroom (shared with guest(s) who rent the other room). Kirsten is a really kind person, unfortunately we didn't get to see her much, since our schedule for our stay in Palo Alto was very packed. We would definitely recommend this airbnb to others!
We very much enjoyed our stay, although very short. The room was private, comfortable and cozy. and very clean. Both the room and bathroom were very clean. And if any toiletrie was forgotten it was available. Kirsten was very friendly, accomodating, and resourseful. I left something behind and she mailed it to me immediately free of charge! Her home is very close to Stanford University Hospital where we had an appointment, so this was very convenient. The backyard garden was quite charming. We enjoyed meeting the chickens. They were very friendly as well:)
Kirsten was always kind and charming to us. A homely atmosphere, attentiveness and helpfulness is amazing so we can't thank you enough for everything you've done for us. Comments here are absolutely right that she was a woman of very good character. Thank you for everything.
Fantastic experience. Kirsten was so hospitable, and offered to pick me up at the local Caltrain station as I was coming in from a late flight.
The room was exactly as described, everything was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and amenities were provided.
I would absolutely recommend Kirsten's Airbnb.
The house and room is really cozy and comfort. The bed is soft and nice, maybe not a large bed but pretty enough for a 170cm adult.
Kirsten is kind and helpful. I was late at that night, she waited for me and keep the lights on so I can find her house. Really appreciated.

About the Host, Kirsten
I am a life long Californian, a mom, and a designer. I love gardening, my family and my work. I am a passionate environmentalist, and I am afraid you will HAVE to recycle while you stay with us. Two of the things I love about N. California are it's natural beauty, and it's cultural diversity.
I think life should be fun, and that people should be kind to each other.
I am an interior designer, and run my business out of my home. My husband, Frank is in high tech, big data, if that means anything to you. He is a great resource if you are interested in the local Silicon Valley scene. We have 3 kids, 2 of which are at college most of the time.
We rent their rooms out while they are gone, and really enjoy our guests. I like to think that as hosts, my husband Frank and I offer a local concierge service. We enjoy helping our guests enjoy their stay. There is so much to see in our beautiful area, and hope that staying with our family gives our guests a feeling of being at home in Silicon Valley. This is a family home, and while we try to keep it perfect, sometimes we might be socializing, sewing, or cooking during your stay. We value our 5 star reviews, and want to make sure you are happy in our home. Please let us know if there is anything that bothers you, or if we can do anything to improve your stay while you are here.
