Newly completed loft in fashionable Surry Hills/Redfern area.
'The Old Dairy loft' is a recently completed loft apartment designed by award winning architects MCK. Originally the site of a dairy farm in the 1850's the new design incorporates an original brick wall, forming a backdrop to the new layout.
It features beautiful mahogany ceilings and cabinetry and is fully carpeted throughout. There is an open plan kitchen/dining/living area with views over an adjacent park. The bedroom has built in wardrobes, a king sized bed which can be reconfigured into 2 single if desired and an ensuite bathroom. There are full laundry facilities and a fully functioning kitchen, complete with oven, gas cooktop, fridge and dishwasher. There is a split system heating/cooling system to keep the interiour at a comfortable temperature. You also have TV, DVD, a Bose iphone dock sound system and free wifi available for your entertainment.
The loft is adjacent to Moore Park and only minutes to the famous eateries of Surry Hills and Dank Street. Fox Studios, Centennial Park and the SCG are a short stroll across Moore Park. The property is 2 kilometers from Sydney city centre and only a 10 minute drive from the airport.
You will find the loft a quiet place to rest but close enough to all the entertainment Sydney has to offer. There are numerous bike paths in the area which lead you from your door to Woolloomoo, the Opera House and other Sydney attractions. Central Station is a 15 walk away through the leafy streets of Surry Hills and the beaches are a short bus ride away.
We recommend Go Get car share as a fantastic way to get around Sydney and they have 6 cars parked within 2 minutes walk of the Loft.
We have a key safe where you can access the door keys at any time of the day or night.
Interaction with Guests
We are alway here to help but tend to stay out of our guest's way otherwise. The entrance to the Loft is separate to the entrance to our main home, so our paths rarely cross unless required.
Redfern and Surry Hills are diverse, vibrant communities full of fashion, food and design. The streets are busy day and night which makes for a fun area to live. Everything you need is within walking distance, including great parks and sporting venues.
The area is very well serviced by bus and trains. The nearest bus stop is 1 minute from the Loft and you can walk to central train station within 15 minutes. There are also numerous bike paths in the area.

The place was appointed perfectly and exactly as described. Lovely wood finishings on all of the cabinetry and excellent lighting fixtures. Thoughtfully provided amenities like a hairdryer and the fridge was already stocked with milk and coffee upon our arrival. We started every morning with a short jaunt to the Bourke Street Bakery to pick up fresh croissants and prepared our breakfast in the loft which was a perfect start to our days. There was no end to restaurants and hip coffee joints all withing walking distance. We even walked all the way up through the botanical gardens all the way to the opera house in less than 40 minutes. Sarah and her family were friendly, helpful hosts, but also nonintrusive and if we ever visit Sydney, we will not think twice to rebook at the modern yet cozy old dairy loft.
We enjoyed our stay at the loft. The interior design was beautiful. We were very close to the supermarket, restaurants and cafes, very convenient. Little bit walking distance to the central station... Overall it was a lovely stay.
Thanks Sarah, my parents had an amazing time staying at your apartment. Everything they needed was on their doorstep and the apartment was in immaculate condition. They are already looking forward to coming back for there next stay.
Sarah's place was just perfect. Beautifully fitted out, central to everything.
Couldn't of asked for anything more.
We had a great 4 days in Sydney staying in Sarah's loft. The loft itself is beautiful. My husband thought the bed was the most comfortable we'd had during our entire trip and I especially loved the shower. It has one of those shower heads that make you feel like you're standing in the rain. The neighborhood, Redfern/Surry Hills, was excellent. There was a supermarket nearby and lots of great shops and restaurants. And although the area was quite busy, Sarah's street was absolutely quiet. Sarah was also very helpful. Check-in was simple and flexible. She was easy to get in touch with and helped us with any problems or extra wishes we had. She even provided a cot/crib for our daughter. I would definitely recommend this place.
Amazing place to stay! Clean, convenient, and just our style (modern)- great location and walking distance to shops and restaurants (especially breakfast at Four Ate Five). Only concerns were minor: parking outside the building, and there weren't any top sheets, that we could find (but we were able to use two blankets instead just fine). But we'll make sure to stay again next time we're in town! Already suggested it to friends.
Hi Andrew, let me know what you mean about 'no top sheet'. Was that because there was a duvet on the bed and you decided to use the blankets instead as it was too hot? If that's the case, then I am sorry, we hadn't expected warm weather so we hadn't changed the linen to our summer arrangement, which is sheets and blankets with a duvet in the cupboard, incase it does cool down. Let me know though, as it sounds a little odd. Thanks, Sarah
What a gem of a place. Great area- colourful, interesting and we were able to walk everywhere! Quality of the fit out is fantastic- super comfy bed and beautiful shower etc. highly recommended.
I am a wife, mother, designer and Airbnb accommodation manager. I live and work in the Redfern/Surry Hills area of Sydney and love it! I have lived in the area for about 15 years with my husband and we wouldn't live anywhere else. We love to travel and are always looking for interesting places to stay. It's always so much nicer to stay in a home rather than a hotel, so we thought we should offer our loft to fellow travelers.
