A year ago we bought this great building for our business that has an apartment attached. We couldn't think of a better thing to do with it than to rent it out through airbnb.
Thank you for your interest in our apartment. If you want to know what it would cost for certain days please enter them into the calendar. Airbnb will tabulate the amount for you.
Our apartment is perfect for people on the go. It's great for business people here for seminars, families and single people wanting a home base for their busy vacation, baseball players here for spring training.
We have a full kitchen, two large bedrooms, and two full baths. The master bedroom has a king size bed, television, private entrance, large closet, washer/dryer, and private full bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin size beds. In addition to a large sofa, the living room has a sleeper sofa, 42" television, board games, and a DVD/Blue-ray player.
We provide sheets, blankets, and towels. While we do not cook you breakfast, there are lots of breakfast foods including cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, fresh seasonal fruit. milk, coffee, and tea. If you would like eggs or pastries I can provide them, but will need notice.
We have basic cable, wi-fi, microwave, toaster oven, iron, hair dryer, blender, along with all of the normal appliances one would expect.
We allowed pets for a short time, but after we had to replace bedding because of the dog hair, we can no longer accept them. We're sorry about this; we love animals too.
The apartment is physically connected to our electrical service business office, which means there is lots of activity at the beginning of the day and late afternoon, as our employees arrive in the morning and return at the end of the business day. There are occasional deliveries during the day, (but not to the apartment).
We take pride in the things we own. We have tried to make the apartment the kind of place we would want to stay. It is clean and safe. Safe enough that our grown daughter lives upstairs, and our business is there too.
The neighborhood is a mixed neighborhood with homes directly across the street and both commercial and residential buildings on our side of the street. It is a blue collar neighborhood that is racially and ethnically diverse.
While a car is highly recommended, regardless of the area you stay in, a bus stop is within two minutes walking distance of our place.
We are located about 7 miles from Siesta Key, 6 miles to Lido Beach, and 5 miles from the airport, 5 miles to Nathan Benderson Park, and less than one mile from Ed Smith Stadium. If you click on the street view, you will see a photo from before we purchased the building.
Smoking is permitted outdoors only.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You are required to pay the the Hotel and Resort Tax, which is 12% (6% for the state of Florida, and 6% for the County of Sarasota). Florida law allows a 5% exemption for full-time college student (with an official written confirmation from your school) and active military personnel. The tax is included in the rental cost and the 5% will be removed with proof of student or military status.
Washer and dryer, full kitchen, private parking, private yard.
Interaction with Guests
Our guests have full privacy. We do not live here. Occasionally they will meet my husband or daughter, but that's usually the most interaction we will have.
Be respectful to the upstairs neighbor (who is our daughter).
Smoking outside only.
Keep in mind that Florida has been experiencing drought conditions for about 15 years so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't waste water by taking half hour showers and running a full washing machine for two items.
Park in a designated spot.
Keep music and television at a reasonable volume.
Check-out time is noon, Check-in 2:00 These times are flexible, as it is rare we have back to back guests.
Great place. Easy walk to Ed Smith Stadium. Could not have been better. Very comfortable.
Our stay was perfect. We haven't had the chance to meet Diana and her husband though. We mainly used the house for dinner and sleep since we were at the beach the rest of the time. The house is close to everything and is located in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was clean and well kept.
We really enjoyed our stay! The apartment was exactly as advertised. Very clean and comfortable. We were very close to everything in Sarasota and the beaches. Lots of nice amenities made our stay even better! Thanks for the use of the washer/dryer. That was just great.
Det er et rart, rent og velfunktionerende hus - med god plads til en familie. Og Diana havde sørget for det var lidt i køleskabet til os - så vi havde noget at komme i gang med.
We spent two weeks in Sarasota at Diana's place. Everything went well and enjoyed our time there.
Stayed here for one night. Place was clean, quiet and very spacious. Diana does a nice job of making travelers feel at home. Not far from downtown Sarasota, St. Armands circle or any of the great eating places. Much better than a hotel/motel unless you enjoy that sort of thing.
I've just returned home after spending a few days at Diana's little BnB. My stay there was entirely wonderful, with all the little touches for comfort, safety and relaxation that Diana has so thoughtfully provided. There was nothing lacking and there was an immediate response to anything that I requested. I would recommend this listing to anyone who is looking for a location that is close to downtown, for whatever purposes bring them to Sarasota. Diana's place is spacious and comfortable and quiet. It's also well-kept and the bed was better than most hotel beds.

I am a forty something mother and wife. I have had the privilege of traveling to a few places across the United States and Europe. I've have surfed on people's couches in Boston, I've done a home exchange in London, but more recently I've stayed with airbnb hosts in San Francisco, Seattle, London, York, and Amsterdam.
I love traveling. I love to travel alone, with one of my children, or with my whole great big family.
We live in Sarasota, Florida. I moved here from Miami in 1987, and my husband, Bob, moved here a few years earlier from New York.
Airbnb suggests we tell you something about ourselves such as five things we cannot live without. I've given this a great deal of thought and here is my list:
4) shelter from the elements
5) opportunities to be a smart ass
My most favorite thing to do in the entire world is laugh and I keep a short list (that keeps growing) of things to talk about in the event I ever find myself on stage as a stand-up comedian (you never know!). I am a Toastmaster and my most recent hobby is sewing.
Bob loves sports, particularly watching baseball and playing golf, and laughing at/with me, his wife. He is an electrical contractor.
Oh, I have a motto: Always Go To Laugh
