A year ago we bought this great building for our business that has an apartment attached. We couldn't think of a better thing to do with it than to rent it out through airbnb.
Thank you for your interest in our apartment. If you want to know what it would cost for certain days please enter them into the calendar. Airbnb will tabulate the amount for you.
Our apartment is perfect for people on the go. It's great for business people here for seminars, families and single people wanting a home base for their busy vacation, baseball players here for spring training.
We have a full kitchen, two large bedrooms, and two full baths. The master bedroom has a king size bed, television, private entrance, large closet, washer/dryer, and private full bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin size beds. In addition to a large sofa, the living room has a sleeper sofa, 42" television, board games, and a DVD/Blue-ray player.
We provide sheets, blankets, and towels. While we do not cook you breakfast, there are lots of breakfast foods including cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, fresh seasonal fruit. milk, coffee, and tea. If you would like eggs or pastries I can provide them, but will need notice.
We have basic cable, wi-fi, microwave, toaster oven, iron, hair dryer, blender, along with all of the normal appliances one would expect.
We allowed pets for a short time, but after we had to replace bedding because of the dog hair, we can no longer accept them. We're sorry about this; we love animals too.
The apartment is physically connected to our electrical service business office, which means there is lots of activity at the beginning of the day and late afternoon, as our employees arrive in the morning and return at the end of the business day. There are occasional deliveries during the day, (but not to the apartment).
We take pride in the things we own. We have tried to make the apartment the kind of place we would want to stay. It is clean and safe. Safe enough that our grown daughter lives upstairs, and our business is there too.
The neighborhood is a mixed neighborhood with homes directly across the street and both commercial and residential buildings on our side of the street. It is a blue collar neighborhood that is racially and ethnically diverse.
While a car is highly recommended, regardless of the area you stay in, a bus stop is within two minutes walking distance of our place.
We are located about 7 miles from Siesta Key, 6 miles to Lido Beach, and 5 miles from the airport, 5 miles to Nathan Benderson Park, and less than one mile from Ed Smith Stadium. If you click on the street view, you will see a photo from before we purchased the building.
Smoking is permitted outdoors only.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: You are required to pay the the Hotel and Resort Tax, which is 12% (6% for the state of Florida, and 6% for the County of Sarasota). Florida law allows a 5% exemption for full-time college student (with an official written confirmation from your school) and active military personnel. The tax is included in the rental cost and the 5% will be removed with proof of student or military status.
Washer and dryer, full kitchen, private parking, private yard.
Our guests have full privacy. We do not live here. Occasionally they will meet my husband or daughter, but that's usually the most interaction we will have.
Diana's place is GREAT. Clean, spacious, and within walking distance/short cab ride to wherever you want to go in Sarasota. Forget anything? Diana has a basket of common things for use as well as groceries in case your in a pinch and need a bite. Would definitely recommend.
Diana's apartment was perfect for my friend and me when we came to Sarasota for an opera weekend. Two bedrooms and two baths for a very reasonable price. The apartment was very clean. Diana was great to communicate with and was very clear about the location and how to get around town.
Three of us stayed here last weekend and it was better than we expected! Lovely apartment complete with coffee and creamer for in the morning and a basket of essentials waiting on the counter in case we forgot anything. The place was spacious and clean and beautiful! We had a conference at the Ritz and this was perfectly situated to that area. We met the folks living upstairs and they were gracious and quiet the whole time we were there.
Diana is such a wonderful host. she was so communicative and helpful, allowed us early check in, provided EVERYTHING. It is so wonderful to rent a house that has condiments and a bit of food. Her home is sparkling clean and spacious and we highly recommend it. We walked to the Oriole's spring training stadium for a fabulous game.
You would be lucky to rent form Diana.
Kind regards, Stacey and Jack
We spent a fine, restful February in Diana's apartment, and she was an excellent host – thoughtful (for example, in stocking extra provisions that guests might want), and available without intruding in any way. The apartment is spacious and gets good daylight, and we were very comfortable. We also had full privacy and quiet; the operations of the adjoining business are discreet and completely unobtrusive – in fact it was nice to know that there were family members next door and upstairs in case we needed anything. The residential neighborhood across the street is modest but also quiet, and we often walked to a small park a couple of blocks from the house where several species of Florida birds congregate on the little lake. Downtown Sarasota is indeed accessible a short drive away, and we enjoyed its fine museum, botanical garden, and opera. This was a pleasant visit for us (and a welcome respite from the northern chill!). We are happy to recommend Diana’s apartment to other users of airbnb. Judith and Bernie
Located in a light industrial area making walking at night uninviting, this home also was surrounded with a high chain link fence. However, we felt very safe and the neighborhood was very quiet at night. Inside, the amenities were as advertised, quite clean, and the kitchen was even stocked with basic food provisions. Overall, for a two bed, two bath, a good value.
Diana's apartment was a great place to stay-- it suited our needs perfectly. Communication was good, the apartment has everything you could possibly need including basic food, tupperware, even games and puzzles if you get bored. Everything was clean and felt very homey.
The neighborhood is okay, close to downtown and the airport but you do need to have a car to go out.
Only thing I didn't love was that all the rooms have sliding doors which can be kind of annoying sometimes.
Overall, great value. Great first experience with Airbnb!
Apartment is very clean and well equipped, and Diana is responsive. The only non positive comment is that it is in a commercial area, which is a surprise at first, but other than visuals, there is no downside.
We spent one night in this house. Diana was very nice. The house was as we expected. So, we were very happy to stay in Diana's house.
Overall a nice and cozy place to stay. Very comfy beds, convenient to everything.
The house was very toddler friendly too. I didn't have to worry about my little one running around and playing (or breaking things).
