The Space

Our wonderful home is situated in the hills of Kenwood with its own half-acre vineyard producing award winning zinfandel. It has everything for a family retreat, couples weekend, or even a quiet get away for a wonderful wine weekend. 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths.

It is close to Kenwood and Glen Ellen which offer both good food, a calm, serene environment and amazing wine!!! There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, 1 queen and 1 king and a large sofa area.

The other bedroom is situated like a master suite downstairs as a self contained suite with its own tv with satellite, a couch for lounging, a cozy queen size bed and it's own entrance and parking. The bedroom connects to the main house with stairs to the deck.

The kitchen is top of the line with stainless steel. We provide great cookware for the true wine country experience. You can either enjoy your meal in the dining room or on the deck right off the kitchen that has spectacular ridge and vineyard views.

There is plenty of space to hang out all together as well as leave enough space for reading books and enjoying nature. In the summer time there is a over barren fig tree, pear tree, grapes galore as well as other fruit trees.

This home is great for relaxing, making a fire, cooking or entertaining on the patio with incredible views, top of line BBQ, bocce ball, and ping-pong. Situated in a private oak grove is a platform deck which is perfect for morning yoga or afternoon tea.

Our property is close to TONS of wineries, great restaurants, and HIKING! Check out our guidebook for info.

  • We had a wonderful stay. The place is beautiful and all of the household amenities are very high quality. We had 3 couples, one with a small child, and the downstairs studio was perfect for the family with a baby.

  • Our family loved staying here, the space was welcoming, relaxing, and incredibly beautiful. Dave was the perfect host, checking in with me to ensure we were taken care of. We would love to come back and stay here for our next family reunion.

  • Our stay at David Russell's Kenwood Retreat was everything it was promised to be. This is a very nice home, very well-appointed with lots of Restoration Hardware furnishings. The kitchen is ready for serious cooking if you are in the mood. The home is very spacious with a separate room on a lower level for privacy. The terraces offering stunning views of the surrounding vineyard and foothills of Sonoma. Nearby restaurants, like Citti Italian food, are quaint and inviting.

  • The house is a wonderful retreat in a beautiful setting. David was easy to reach by email and text, and left very good instructions on use of the house and enjoyment of the local area. Note that the location is not on Trinity Rd as it maps on AirBnB, it is actually on the north side of Glen Ellen, just next to Kenwood.

  • This Glen Ellen gem provided the ideal wine country setting to celebrate my birthday with friends. The home's location, design and amenities were outstanding. I look forward to returning to David's home in the future, as he has created the perfect country house getaway, complete with a lovely deck, hammock and bocce.

  • We had a great time staying at David's home. Everything was as pictured and described. The home was very comfortably furnished and we had great fun lounging on the deck and eating dinner around the beautiful dining room table. The kitchen was nicely appointed and we were able to find all of the pots/pans etc that we needed. The Cards Against Humanity game that was at the home was absolutely hysterical and we had such fun playing it.

  • We - a European family of 4 with 2 adult sons - stayed at David's place for a long weekend exploring the wine country. We simply could not have found a better place to do so. Avid food lovers and amateur chefs, we found ourselves in heaven with David's kitchen, equipment, basic ingredients, BBQ, dining areas, etc. - all this paired to a superb Sonos sound system. Preparing good food from local ingredients with a Spotify playlist over a Sonos, an excellent Anderson Valley Roederer Estate Brut Rosé and a postcard view, is an experience that is hard to beat.
The house is more spacious than what it looks in the pictures and is extremely well equipped and maintained. Communication with David is easy and pragmatic. Location is excellent.
We'd like to thank David for his hospitality and would love to be back. We unconditionally recommend Kenwood Wine Retreat as one of the best private stays that you can experience.

  • David was courteous and accurate in reservation process and his lovely house. It is in a lovely setting, quiet and serene, except for some rowdy dogs from neighbors (hence, not a 5 star!) and late night party with loud music…but these are not in anyone's control.
His kitchen was fully stocked, his linens were fresh and crisp. It was a home well loved by the family and it was a privilege to stay there. His recommendations for restaurants were right on too! Although I must say, the Glen Ellen Inn is barely passable. He was responsive to our emails and always friendly. The entire down stairs is appropriate if you don't need access to kitchen and for the rowdy family of 5 including teenagers with their dogs, the house was large and comfortable and durable enough!! We did need to go get toilette paper and wished we had more fresh towels but over all, I couldn't have found a better place to relax and be simply together, eating and drinking with your family. Thank you David, for opening up your amazing hide-out to us!

  • We were a group of 6 including my parents, my sister and her boyfriend, and my wife and myself. We spent 10 days in Dave's beautiful house from July 13th to July 23rd, 2013. The house was perfectly located to allow us to spend quality time with our guests. It was close to some cute towns including Kenwood and Glen Ellen. Santa Rosa and San Francisco are relatively close as well and of course there are plenty of wineries to go to in the area. Dave's house was clean, fully furnished and really spacious. The huge family table allowed us to easily sit down and enjoy meals together. The house also offers a nice relaxing terrace and Bocce - a game that the whole family could play. It was a great house and we would definitely recommend it!
