About this listing

A beautiful home which has everything you could desire in a place for a relaxing getaway - fireplace, hottub facing the ocean, 180 degree ocean views, great kitchen, piano, and miles upon miles of beaches to stroll just outside the front door.

The space

This listing is for renting the entire house, other listings here on airbnb, at certain times of the year are for renting individual rooms out while the owner is in the home.

This magnificent custom designed home - The Sea Sanctuary - is situated just a hundred yards from the sand with 180 degree whitewater views. A seal colony can be found 1/2 mile to the south and exceptional tidepooling can be found directly in front of the home. A bike/walking trail runs along the ocean as well. Enjoy a solitary walk along the beach - in fact you could walk for miles and miles in secluded exploration of beach and sandy dunes. Radiant floor heat and a wood-burning fireplace can make this rental extra cozy in the winter. Elevated decks both front and rear allow for enjoyable outdoor living as well. A Jacuzzi-brand hot tub sits on the front deck from which you can watch and listen to the ocean's roar, see the pelicans glide by, and at night watch thousands upon thousands of stars.

To take advantage of the great view, the main living area in the house is on the 2nd floor, including the master bedroom, kitchen, living room and den, all with gorgeous bamboo floors. A 5x7' loft in the living room accessible from a built in ladder is a great place to play a game of cards, relax with a book or have a private conversation. Kids always want to sleep up there on the carpeted floor, and adults sometimes do too! Directly under the loft is the window seat - the most popular spot in the house. The 42' wall-mounted flat screen TV is in a smaller den attached to the living room. The double doors on the den close, keeping the viewing noise from infiltrating the peacefulness of the rest of the house. One or two people can sleep privately on the den's pull-out sofa sectional.

A gourmet custom granite and bamboo kitchen with double oven, All-Clad Cookware, Dishwasher, Kitchen Aid Mixer, Vitamix, Rice Cooker and many other appliances and dishware make cooking or baking a joy for small or larger groups. Real wine and champagne glasses too!

Downstairs, you enter through the slate entry area to find a photography gallery/carpeted open yoga/exercise area which includes two futons for yet further sleeping spots. it's also a great place for kids to play if you want them to have their space separate from the rest of the group. The downstairs bedroom has a wonderful view facing out to the ocean, and the Japanese-style tatami bedroom makes for another very comfortable sleeping space

The Sea Sanctuary is truly a beautiful home which can help to make your vacation by the sea very relaxing and extra memorable.

To sum up, there are many sleeping options:

- Bedroom - king bed
- Den/TV room - Full-size pull-out sofa sleeper - purchased from Macy's but still not the most comfortable
- Fireplace nook open area off the living room - queen platform futon with extra padding and regular couch

- Bedroom - queen bed
- Tatami room - a private sleeping option with a queen mattress on a platform bed. Sliding shoji screens close the room off
- Exercise/play area - queen futon + single futon

If you are into cooking, the kitchen is fully stocked including Vitamix, KitchenAId Mixer, double oven, 5 burner cooktop, rice cooker, Cuisinart Food Processor, built-in mircowave, toaster, etc.

Ted was an incredible host, very detail-oriented. He responded to questions promptly. Everything is well labeled in the home. Plenty of private spaces for guests to retreat from the group. Lots of love and intention was obviously noticed within the home. The scenery is GORGEOUS! This house wont disappoint.

The Sanctuary by the Sea is appropriately named. The pictures on the website are beautiful but actually being in the space and enjoying the sun streaming in the many strategically placed windows is beyond what a picture can capture. It is tranquil. The beach is right in front and feels like you are on your own private beach. I will come back again. Lovely

This was a weekend getaway for my birthday. A bunch of friends and I wanted to be by the ocean, enjoy a hot tub, cook and just hang out and catch up. Ted's home was perfect. He was very communicative and his home provided for an amazing backdrop to our time. There are instructions on little cards through out the house if you had any question on how to turn on anything (i.e. the dishwasher, laundry, songs, etc.) The house is right on the ocean, so easy for a long walk on the beach and tide pools with lots of wild life. Also just about a 10 min drive in to town when we needed anything. I'll definitely stay at the Sea Sanctuary again!

This is one of the best houses if you're looking for a secluded spot with actually comfortable space for plenty of people. Tucked away in a secluded spot with a state park beach literally across the street, yet 10 minutes from anything you'd need from town. The house is well-labeled and Ted had quick, helpful responses and tips!

This home was everything it says it is and more. Huge kitchen with all the appliances and dishware you could wish for. Spacious rooms that feel cozy and comfortable. Everything was clean and the jacuzzi on the deck is perfect anytime of the day! Ted was responsive and detailed and made our trip a breeze. Can't wait to visit the Sea Sanctuary again soon.

This is a beautiful house, richly appointed, with an extraordinary location on the beach. The kitchen stands out - well stocked for discerning chefs with the best equipment and supplies, teas and oils and spices and quite a lot more. The common room and kitchen couldn't be better for a group to socialize, watch whales spouting, cook, and relax. Directly outside the front door is a trail along the bluffs above Mackerricher State Beach, stretching for miles in both directions, perfect for long walks. Nirvana!

I have many interests including photography, travel, writing, playing piano and guitar, singing, performing music, yoga, poetry, meditation, website development, ultimate frisbee, tennis, fermenting foods, eating healthy woodworking and probably a few more things thrown in.

I've been lucky enough to see a lot of different places in the world over the past several years. India and Nepal are my favorites, but also spent quite a bit of time in Eastern Europe (notably Ukraine) and the rest of Europe too. My father lives in Thailand so I get over there occasionally as well.

I consider myself pretty easy to get along with and enjoy meeting new people and having new experiences. As a host, I'm happy to converse but I also do my best to stay attuned to my guests and offer them as quiet and tranquil a getaway as they may want.
