A beautiful home which has everything you could desire in a place for a relaxing getaway - fireplace, hottub facing the ocean, 180 degree ocean views, great kitchen, piano, and miles upon miles of beaches to stroll just outside the front door.
This listing is for renting the entire house, other listings here on airbnb, at certain times of the year are for renting individual rooms out while the owner is in the home.
This magnificent custom designed home - The Sea Sanctuary - is situated just a hundred yards from the sand with 180 degree whitewater views. A seal colony can be found 1/2 mile to the south and exceptional tidepooling can be found directly in front of the home. A bike/walking trail runs along the ocean as well. Enjoy a solitary walk along the beach - in fact you could walk for miles and miles in secluded exploration of beach and sandy dunes. Radiant floor heat and a wood-burning fireplace can make this rental extra cozy in the winter. Elevated decks both front and rear allow for enjoyable outdoor living as well. A Jacuzzi-brand hot tub sits on the front deck from which you can watch and listen to the ocean's roar, see the pelicans glide by, and at night watch thousands upon thousands of stars.
To take advantage of the great view, the main living area in the house is on the 2nd floor, including the master bedroom, kitchen, living room and den, all with gorgeous bamboo floors. A 5x7' loft in the living room accessible from a built in ladder is a great place to play a game of cards, relax with a book or have a private conversation. Kids always want to sleep up there on the carpeted floor, and adults sometimes do too! Directly under the loft is the window seat - the most popular spot in the house. The 42' wall-mounted flat screen TV is in a smaller den attached to the living room. The double doors on the den close, keeping the viewing noise from infiltrating the peacefulness of the rest of the house. One or two people can sleep privately on the den's pull-out sofa sectional.
A gourmet custom granite and bamboo kitchen with double oven, All-Clad Cookware, Dishwasher, Kitchen Aid Mixer, and other appliances make cooking or baking a joy for small or larger groups.
Downstairs, you enter through the slate entry area to find a photography gallery/carpeted open yoga/exercise area which includes two futons for yet further sleeping spots. it's also a great place for kids to play if you want them to have their space separate from the rest of the group. The downstairs bedroom has a wonderful view facing out to the ocean, and the Japanese-style tatami room makes for another sleeping space
The Sea Sanctuary is truly a beautiful home which can help to make your vacation by the sea very relaxing and extra memorable.

Proximity to the beautiful beach which is an easy 1 minute stroll directly in front of the front door. It's also on a relatively quiet loop road 1 mile off of Hwy 1 so it's very quiet. A short 8 minute drive gets you to the center of Fort Bragg so you're not far away from groceries and other essentials.
normal check in 4pm, check out 11am. No smoking indoors please. I also ask that you remove your shoes while in the home. No parties/gatherings allowed for groups larger than the number of guests you submit in your booking request, whether or not they are staying overnight in the home. Please let me know if you would like to host such a gathering and we can discuss.
Ted's home is absolutely beautiful, I've stayed at many airbnbs and his house is one of my favorites. The surroundings make this place magical. You're literally right on the beach with a great walking running path that ends in gorgeous beaches and views on both ends. I loved learning a little history about the house and how it was built. Ted was great with communications, and the stay was simply wonderful. Thank you for sharing your lovely home! I will definitely be back!
My friends and I had such an amazing time celebrating my 40th birthday at the Sea Sanctuary! The house was beautiful and the ocean views were stunning. We spent the weekend cooking, listening to music, playing games, relaxing in the hot tub, jogging on the path along the beach, and beachcombing. We had fun one night BBQing and we did venture into Fort Bragg once to see Glass Beach.
The host welcomed us with a clean and modern home and provided us with ample explanations about the various features of the home. I'm definitely coming back!
The Sea Sanctuary was an incredible experience. My family and I had one of the best gatherings ever. The home was inviting, serene and beautiful. Every detail was thought through around the house to make our visit pleasant in every way. Ted has been extremely responsive to every question we had before and during our stay. All my family says thank you.
The house was beautiful and the weekend could not have been more perfect. Thank you again for sharing your home with our group.
We had a great time. This is a true sanctuary...very peaceful...Great place for total relaxation.
What an absolute treasure! We had high hopes for adventuring around Fort Bragg, but were so drawn into the comforts of this brilliantly designed home that our group spent most of the weekend cuddled up together, laughing and chatting the day away...
In a word: paradise. I don't think I can stay at a better Airbnb. Ted was easy to communicate with and reliable setting up our weekend getaway.
The house was exactly as pictured, literally right across from the Pacific. It had more than enough space and tons of lovely accents to explore. The kitchen is fantastic and fully equipped.
Nature outside is beautiful, whether it's the beach or backyard (we saw some deer one morning too).
We didn't stay long enough to take advantage of all the coast and Mendocino have to offer, but we enjoyed a meal in Fort Bragg and were appreciative of all of Ted's recommendations to see and do.
Thanks Ted– this weekend was perfect and memorable.

I have many interests including photography, travel, writing, playing piano and guitar, singing, performing music, yoga, poetry, meditation, website development, ultimate frisbee, tennis, fermenting foods, eating healthy woodworking and probably a few more things thrown in.
I've been lucky enough to see a lot of different places in the world over the past several years. India and Nepal are my favorites, but also spent quite a bit of time in Eastern Europe (notably Ukraine) and the rest of Europe too. My father lives in Thailand so I get over there occasionally as well.
I consider myself pretty easy to get along with and enjoy meeting new people and having new experiences. As a host, I'm happy to converse but I also do my best to stay attuned to my guests and offer them as quiet and tranquil a getaway as they may want.
