The Space

Come stay at our cozy 3 bedroom/2 bath ranch house in historic University City. Perfect for family visits to Washington University, St. Louis University and University of Missouri St. Louis, temporary housing for relocation's, at home office for business travelers, or for couples getaway weekends. Available for daily or weekly reservations.

The Neighborhood:
The house is located in the central corridor, in a quiet, safe neighborhood 10 miles west of downtown St. Louis. Only minutes from Clayton, the Delmar Loop, Forest Park and Washington University.
Clayton, the county seat, is located one mile from the house. It has over 50 restaurants, beautiful parks, stately neighborhoods and a world class art fair in September.
The Delmar Loop is an eclectic, vibrant neighborhood with many ethnic restaurants (Middle Eastern, Indian, Korean, Greek, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Thai...etc.), concert venues and boutique shops. Delmar Blvd. was voted one of the top ten streets in the country.
Forest Park features a world class zoo, art museum, history museum all for FREE! It is also home to the Muny Outdoor Theater in the summer, two championship golf courses and a six mile walking/bike path around the circumference of the park.

The House:
Your accommodations include a fully furnished 1,400 square foot ranch style house, built in the late 1960s. It has been totally renovated with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, family room, and eat-in kitchen. The master bedroom includes a queen size bed, dresser and a desk. Each of the other two bedrooms include a full size bed, dresser and desk. The master bedroom has its own private full bathroom and a sliding glass door walkout to a beautiful stone patio and a sprawling back yard. The yard features eight different fruit trees, four grape vines and a vegetable garden. Feel free to use our newly renovated kitchen which has everything you need to prepare all your meals.

-The University of Missouri St. Louis is five miles away.
-The Central West End is less than four miles away.
-Downtown St. Louis, with the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium and the Edward Jones Dome is a mere fifteen minute drive.
-Forest Park is three miles away.
-The Grand Center entertainment district with the Powell Symphony Hall, the Fabulous Fox Theather and the Sheldon Concert Hall are 10 minutes away
-The Edward Jones business campus is less than ten miles from the house

Interaction with Guests

I meet and greet every guest to show them around the house, give them a key and help get them situated. After that guests have complete privacy. I live downstairs in a separate condo with a separate entrance so if you need anything I'm a phone call away. For longer stays I usually check in by phone after a few days to make sure your stay is going well and you have everything you need.

The Neighborhood

Guests love my quiet, peaceful, family friendly neighborhood. Take a stroll to the nearby park or head over to grab a slice of pizza or some frozen yogurt. A short 5 minute drive will leave you in either the historic Delmar Loop with its numerous boutique shops and ethnic restaurants, or in Downtown Clayton, which boasts more than 50 restaurants and bars.

Getting Around

Guests may park in our driveway or in front of the house on the street.
Public transit is a short four block walk from the house.
From the airport take I-70 east to I-170 south to Delmar Blvd east to Center Blvd north, then left on Amherst to the third house on the right.

House Rules
Check-in is after 2PM

We are excited for your stay and want you to feel at home but we ask that you please respect our space as well. Absolutely NO SMOKING on the premises. Pets are NOT allowed. The neighborhood is quiet so please keep noise at a respectful level. In an effort to run a more “green" establishment, please turn off any lights or electronics when not being used. Please also return all reading materials to the space in which you found them. The fireplace has been disconnected. Please do not try to light it. Feel free to use anything in the kitchen but please rinse your dishes and place them in the dishwasher when you are done. If you decide to prepare meals here, PLEASE DO NOT PUT FOOD WASTE DOWN THE SINK since we do not have a garbage disposal.
Instead, either throw waste in the trashcan or put it in the container which is in the refrigerator. If the container becomes full please use the Zip

We like to keep check-in and check-out as flexible as possible, however, if we have guests booked on either side of your stay, we ask you to check in no sooner then 2:PM and check-out no later then 10:AM. Respect and good communication are the keys to a successful visit. You can help me be a better host by telling me what you need. Please notify me if an emergency arises or if you have any questions.

A little bit about me:
My parents and I bought this house as a joint project in 2008 upon returning to my childhood home of St. Louis after living abroad for four years. My dad and I spent most of our time since then renovating the upstairs and converting the basement into a full apartment for me and my five year old golden retriever, Obie, where we lived for the past several years. It was a great father/son project and I've learned a ton!

Now my parents (John and Fran) run the day to day business of checking in guests and taking care of their needs during their stay and I manage the online reservations and correspondence. We hope you come for a visit and are excited to share our home with you.

In addition to home repair projects and my full time job organizing educational and social programs for college students and young adults, I enjoy listening to and playing music, playing soccer, hiking with Obie and meeting new people. My favorite hobby is traveling but unfortunately I don't get to do as much of it as I would like.

Mom and Dad are both retired but keep themselves plenty busy. In addition to their various hobbies, they raise support dogs and take their own dog to the local elementary school to participate in the "Paws for Reading" program.

Having been travelers ourselves, we appreciate good hospitality, a comfortable place to rest and good water pressure in the shower. You will find all of those things here. While we have traveled extensively, St. Louis is always our home and we love nothing more than sharing all of the wonderful attractions, restaurants and lesser known gems found in this great city.
