Interaction with Guests
I meet and greet every guest to show them around the house, give them a key and help get them situated. After that guests have complete privacy. I live downstairs in a separate condo with a separate entrance so if you need anything I'm a phone call away. For longer stays I usually check in by phone after a few days to make sure your stay is going well and you have everything you need.
Guests love my quiet, peaceful, family friendly neighborhood. Take a stroll to the nearby park or head over to grab a slice of pizza or some frozen yogurt. A short 5 minute drive will leave you in either the historic Delmar Loop with its numerous boutique shops and ethnic restaurants, or in Downtown Clayton, which boasts more than 50 restaurants and bars.
Guests may park in our driveway or in front of the house on the street.
Public transit is a short four block walk from the house.
From the airport take I-70 east to I-170 south to Delmar Blvd east to Center Blvd north, then left on Amherst to the third house on the right.

Very nice and lovely house. John and Fran are so kind and friendly.
David's home was the perfect place to stay for my daughter's graduation from Washington University. The home is very conveniently located in a pleasant, quiet neighborhood near Delmar Blvd. Everything was very considerately thought-out, from the fresh milk in the fridge and fresh-baked cookies to the hairdryers and toiletries in each bathroom to the umbrellas by the front door. Kitchen was well-equipped and everything was very clean and comfortable. Appreciated the fast internet connection and printer and the desk in each bedroom. Very nice guest guidebook with directions to nearby stores and restaurants. Felt very welcomed from reservation to departure by the team of David, Fran, and John.
My husband and I came to St. Louis to attend our youngest daughter's MFA THESIS ART SHOW at Washington university Kemper museum. I had never used airbnb but decided to give it a chance. I could not be more pleased. We checked in Friday afternoon Fran met us at the house with homemade cookies, juice water toiletries fully equipped kitchen. She is delightful and was very helpful. Since we have married children living in st Louis we all gathered for meals at our lovely home away from home. We played games, talked, laughed, ate, sat on back deck and just hung out together during the days. One of the highlights of our time was sipping coffee on Saturday morning and watching out the front window as entire families walked to synagogue. The children laughing and playing while their parents walked with them was absolutely like something out of a movie. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this house. Thank you Fran ,John, and David. We were truly blessed by your home. A magical weekend.
We planned this getaway to St Louis to enjoy the public gardens, soak up the art museums, and eat at some good restaurants. We did not anticipate that we would be so comfortable at "home" that we would just hang out there! Cozy is the perfect description - plenty of room for the four of us to spread out and enjoy.
It was great to arrive and find that we didn't need to go to the grocery store - everything on our list was already there. We brought food and made all of our breakfasts and suppers - easy to do in the well appointed kitchen. We are all gardeners, and so appreciated that there was a place for our compostable waste, as well as recycling.
There are such thoughtful touches throughout the house - pads and pens, a whole basket of toiletries and first aid supplies in each bath, and containers for our leftovers.
The location was an easy drive to every place we wanted to go - close to the interstate but far enough off the main streets to be pleasant and quiet. Since all of us live in very rural homes, we enjoyed the well cared for neighborhood.
The beds were comfy with nice cotton sheets. We mentioned missing reading lamps at bedside - and Fran & David quickly responded with a stack of clip on booklights that filled the need!
We liked the easy availability of crucial information such as the wifi code and the nearest gas station. We wished we had devoted more time to studying the big book - but then we only had 4 days, lol.
Our favorite discovery nearby was Jilly's ice cream shop just off Delmar across from Walgreens. Fabulous flavors!
This is truly a home away from home. We hope to come again - and again.
If I could give this 10 stars, instead of 5 stars I would! What a great experience! We were only staying for 1 night but the home and neighborhood are extremely nice and safe.
Being such a short drive to the Delmar Loop was a huge plus and there are so many ammenities closeby! This house is truly a gem.
The house was clean, well maintained, and spacious. The rooms were extremely nice with comfortable beds. The kitchen was nice and stocked with coffee, milk, juice, and snacks/cereals for our use.
We especially liked staying here so that everyone in our family could have their own rooms. Much better than being cooped up in a hotel (and a much better price!) - We didn't get a chance to use the TV but it was so nice having Wifi right on hand.
It was extremely nice to have someone there to show us in and around. Fresh cookies awaited us and that was a nice treat.
I will not hesitate to stay at this location in the future. It is centrally located, in a very nice neighboorhood, a nice open/spacious layout (which is extremely comfortable), and having a private driveaway is incredibly helpful with a toddler.
This was the best AirBNB we've stayed at yet and we are happy we chose this location! A+A+A+
Fran met us as scheduled, and was very welcoming. The house met our needs and exceeded our expectations. What we loved about our stay: milk, juice and fruit in the fridge; snacks, popcorn and cereal out for us; the beds were comfortable (firm); nice tp and tissue (not the cheap stuff); suggestions for restaurants (we ate at Pappy's Smokehouse-it was great!); little extras like note pads and pens, toothpaste, shampoo, etc; everything was very clean and neat. The house was easy to find, and is in an established neighborhood that I would feel comfortable walking in. We felt like we were staying in a friends home.
About the Host, David
A little bit about me:
My parents and I bought this house as a joint project in 2008 upon returning to my childhood home of St. Louis after living abroad for four years. My dad and I spent most of our time since then renovating the upstairs and converting the basement into a full apartment for me and my five year old golden retriever, Obie, where we lived for the past several years. It was a great father/son project and I've learned a ton!
Now my parents (John and Fran) run the day to day business of checking in guests and taking care of their needs during their stay and I manage the online reservations and correspondence. We hope you come for a visit and are excited to share our home with you.
In addition to home repair projects and my full time job organizing educational and social programs for college students and young adults, I enjoy listening to and playing music, playing soccer, hiking with Obie and meeting new people. My favorite hobby is traveling but unfortunately I don't get to do as much of it as I would like.
Mom and Dad are both retired but keep themselves plenty busy. In addition to their various hobbies, they raise support dogs and take their own dog to the local elementary school to participate in the "Paws for Reading" program.
Having been travelers ourselves, we appreciate good hospitality, a comfortable place to rest and good water pressure in the shower. You will find all of those things here. While we have traveled extensively, St. Louis is always our home and we love nothing more than sharing all of the wonderful attractions, restaurants and lesser known gems found in this great city.
Looking forward to your visit!
