Interaction with Guests
Mike and I are hands on owners, available when needed. Kind of like your mother in law.... Close enough to see when needed but not so close that it's uncomfortable. You will often see us working in the yard, doing a project or attending a BBQ at the fire pit when invited by guests. We do not live on site but are active participants in our little community. We love to get to know your story if you are wanting to share, but respect everyone's privacy.
We live next door to an elderly care facility that has a wonderful Russian population. It has been our pleasure to see the women in their Babushkas gather in the parking lot across the street on a hot summers night. We have heard men playing fiddles and have made wonderful friends. This neighborhood is magical with its restaurants and nostalgic history. Art fest,Elkfest, the Museum, the summer concerts in the park.
Centrally located and easy transportation by bus, cab, train, bike. The Centennial trail can be accessed for walking, running, biking and it connects all the way to Idaho if you are in for a whole day of activity.
Other Things to Note
Our city is growing! There is so much activity percolating and we are happy to share this with you if interested. Music, food, art.... A city that is transforming before our eyes. We have a series of parks designed by the famous Olmstead Brothers who Designed Central Park in New York and have not one but two beautiful venues on our National Historic register.
No smoking in unit or in areas that affect other guests. If you spill, clean it up. If you use it all up, replace it. If you break it, cop to it. Simple rules of being a thoughtful guest and a good human being.
I could not have asked for a better experience! I had just moved to Spokane from Pennsylvania, and Patricia and Mike helped make my move effortless.
I stayed in the Windmill Cottage for 3 months while I was working at a local hospital. The location of the apartment was perfect. Easy walk/bike to downtown, not to mention the beautiful historic neighborhood it's in.
The apartment was clean and beautifully decorated. Everything I needed was already at hand. If I could pick that apartment up and move it with me everywhere I travel, I would!
Stayed here for two nights for a business/personal development conference. Patricia took the time out of her busy schedule to answer multiple questions from my end, chat in person and to make sure everything was right.
Location-wise it really suited my needs as I needed a place close to downtown Spokane. I was within walking distance to pretty much everything I needed.
Small touches - WIFI password was provided without asking and worked great. The house was well-heated and the bed very comfortable. They even had ergonomic pillows for the neck which was a pleasant surprise.
All-in-all, great value because of the location, the fact that you get the whole house, the hostess, and the little attentions to detail. If you are planning to stay in Spokane, definitely check out Patricia and Mike!
This place is WONDERFUL!
We are convinced we stumbled on the best place in Spokane. The windmill is very accessible from the interstate (and easy spot from the street!). Inside everything is very clean and appears to be recently renovated. It's smartly decorated and furnished with a great little kitchen, a cozy living space, a desk for any computing you'll do, and a great big bed with the comfiest sheets you'll find. There is also an awesome little gas fireplace that radiates the perfect amount of heat.
The location is great, a brief walk into downtown Spokane with many little coffee shops and pubs along the way. Patricia gave us a couple recommendations to start with which were very helpful due to our late arrival.
We did not know how long we'd be in Spokane, but this place easily pushed us over the edge and compelled us to book another night. Having stayed with amazing airbnb places quite literally all over the world, I'd rank this one very near the top. If you're in Spokane, don't miss it!!!
Baby bar (shares a spot with a great burrito place)
Steam Plant Grill (a steam plant converted into a very cool space)
Canada Island (perfect way to spend a sunny day)
Jenny's Diner/Frank's Diner (great nearby breakfast/brunch spots)

Mike and I own this wonderful little compound comprised of 6 units. 4 air BnB and 2 full time tenants. Each cottage is situated in a horseshoe with it's own entrance, offering all the amenities of a home. As you enter a private courtyard you will find a shared patio with slate pavers, raised garden beds, patio tables and a gas BBQ. There is a community laundry room with 2 coin op washers and 2 dryers, an ironing board, vacuum, brooms etc all to make you comfortable during your stay. We are hands on owners who care about your accommodations and are always looking for ways to improve our community. I am a realtor/boutique owner and Mike owns a race car business out of Portland. We travel a lot and enjoy listening to other travelers and their stories. If you like being close to the city, close to the river, close to restaurants shopping and more.....this is the place. Leave your car, walk, ride a bike and enjoy Spokane. We would love to have you!
