It's great location makes up for its small size. It is amazing place for a one or two week stay in Kyoto.
Come and stay in our lovely Machiya house in total privacy and experience the real Kyoto!
Great place and host. The house is really confortable, cozy and very close to many interesting places in Kyoto. Nobu was kind and helpful.
Very nice experience!
Nobuya was very helpful and a great host. The house was very comfortable with all the modern amenities in a traditional Japanese style build. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property and thank Nobuya for his hospitality.
Nobu-san's lovely townhouse (machiya) was in a very convenient part of Kyoto, with ready access to cabs and buses. We could walk to nearby shines and were just a short bus ride away from Gion and the Kamogawa River. The townhouse is amazing--beautiful tatami rooms and very comfy futons for sleeping; we loved the new and spotless bathroom, and greatly appreciated the laundry room and kitchen. Sometimes we did not want to leave the house, but of course Kyoto has too many wonderful historical sites and notable areas to miss. Nobuya was a great host and provided a smooth check in and lots of information and travel guides. He also offered to post me an item that I accidentally left behind. We truly hope that we can come again soon.
Great flat !!
Nobu is very cand and nice !!!
perfect place in Kyoto
Nobu was a great airbnb host. His email and phone communication was timely and the machiya (small city house) was as described.
Our bus from Takayama was about 2 hours late (gnarly traffic jam) but we called him from the bus and Nobu came and met us at a nearby landmark, the Kyoto Handicraft Center (a good landmark for taxi drivers as well) and walked us to the house that is on a small lane, too narrow for cars. He clearly explained the operation of all amenities and the bus transportation system. He has a binder in the house with all the information organized. There is enough information and labeling in English, and there is much more in Japanese. Nobu has English language maps, bus schedules and guide books in the house. He also has a map showing some of the local restaurants, though there are many more that are not on the map. We had his phone number in case we needed to ask questions and to time our departure.
The house is roomy with 2 bedrooms separated by a dining room, and was great for 3 of us. It does have low door frames - some as low as about 5' 7", so anyone that tall needs to be alert. It is located on a small quiet lane, a few minutes walk from a major intersection that has stops for buses in all 4 directions. There is also a food market at intersection. The location is on the eastern side of Kyoto near the back of the Heian Shrine so the major sights ( and many other sights that are worth seeing) on that side of Kyoto are within walking distance.
Another excellent Airbnb experience from a landlord who understands what travelers need and provides it.
Nobu was a great host who met me near the house and gave me a tour of all the facilities. The house itself has everything I was looking for from the machiya experience: sliding paper doors, tatami floor mats, sleeping futons, a low table, a tea set, and a rock garden out back. It’s historic Japanese elegance and minimalism, and a delight.
