It's great location makes up for its small size. It is amazing place for a one or two week stay in Kyoto.
Come and stay in our lovely Machiya house in total privacy and experience the real Kyoto!
Merci Nobu !
In our recent stay we found the Machiya Townhouse to be very convenient and comfortable. Nobuya is a great host and greeted us upon our arrival. He showed us the bus routes and recommend the bus day pass, that saved a lot of money if you plan on using public transportation. He also warned us of some noise on the side street, but we didn't find it problematic at all. The house was clean and well kept. The location is next to the Heian Shrine with many great neighborhood restaurants near by. Gion was about a 10 minutes bus ride away. Highly recommended town house to stay!
Nobus house is a lovely restaurated old Kyoto home. The house had everything we wanted and more, including a bath tub for japanese baths and two beautiful tatami rooms. We were met and instructed by Nobu in a perfect way, and the house manual was perfect. The neighborhood was very nice. Would certainly return if possible!
everything is great it is very interesting to live.
Communication with Nobu was easy - he replied quickly and provided excellent information. We caught a cab from Kyoto station and Nobu met us at the cab door at the agreed time, helping us with our luggage and then giving us a good run down of the apartment and its features. Although it was winter, the apartment had great heating and we were very comfortable for the 3 nights we stayed. The place is just as shown in the photos and gave us a lovely experience of authentic Japanese living. The neighbourhood is good, close to buses and within walking distance of temples, art galleries and attractions on the eastern side of Kyoto. We have three children so were a bit nervous about the fragile rice paper screens and tatami mats, if your kids are very boisterous this might be a problem. Overall I would recommend this for a unusual and comfortable experience.
Nobuya is a great host, he gave us a very thorough list of everything near the house, which was very helpful. The location of the house is very good, close to bus stops, also not far from famous shrines and temples. We enjoyed our stay at Nobuya's house very much.
Nobu-san was very kind and welcoming. He explained the appartment to us in great detail and gave us invaluable tipps for our stay in Kyoto.
I recommend this lovely traditional japanese accommodation to anyone wanting to really experience japanese life style.
Someone interested in booking this accommodation in winter time should be aware that it can be chilly as obviously the traditional building is not insulated and you should not leave the heaters running when out and about. However, it heats up very quickly with heaters in the living rooms and the bathroom.
