Penestanan is the hippest part of town. Its got more happening in a small area and is only about 2 kilometers from downtown Ubud . There are organic restaurants within a few minutes walk, with all the shopping you need, including the best supermarket in town less than 2 km away. You will have your choice of yoga classes, workshops and courses all within easy reach.
One of the best ways is by foot. Little winding lanes lead all the way through Penestanan, and one can get around without having to walk too much on main roads.
Within easy reach is a good selection of Ubud’s best restaurants, including Alchemy, Sari Organic, and Kue, and there are also yoga classes, workshops and different courses. For longer or quicker transport you can rent a scooter for less than $30 per week. These are nippy and easy to drive (be sure to wear a helmet), definitely the quickest way around.
Finally you can rent a car from about $20/day. As you can see the costs are low for rentals. Likewise you will find motor-bike taxi’s and normal taxi’s are reasonable prices too.
Many a taxi driver becomes the best friend of our obviators, showing them around the island with pride and joy. The locals are so friendly and want to share their culture with you if you show interest.
Other Things to Note
Please note that the reason Teblin is an oasis is that there is no car traffic - there is scooter access for the last 500 metres only.
We have staff who can help you with baggage from 8 am till 4 pm. After that, unless you use out driver, you will need to arrange this for yourself. You could literally ask anyone and someone will volunteer to do it for a small fee. Likewise, if you use your own taxi, and you arrive after 4 pm, you may find he is reluctant to carry your bags for you. It is normal to tip staff in Bali if you feel that you have been served well. If they carry your luggage to Teblin Bungalows a tip of between 10-20,000 rupiah would be appropriate. If you have been staying in the Villa then you may think in terms of 50,000 rupiah for a week’s stay.

About the Host, Antonio
I have lived in Ubud for over 6 years. I love this town, the sense of community, and the many varied people that live here and come to visit. I am a licensed Breathwork Practitioner, and I run Groups at my Retreat Centre, Called the Ark. I am also the founder of a Community of Healing, which is an internet based community dedicated to responsable medicine, promoting the integration of conventional medicine with the cutting edge of alternative modalities. You can join our group on FB and we will update you on activities that take place at The Ark.
I am also the founder of Alchemy restaurant in West Ubud, where we make the best raw chocolate (that is actually GOOD for you), as well as selection of raw pies and cakes, a varied line of health supplements, and and the best triple washed salad in town! We also have a clinic upstairs where you can get full advice on diet, detox and cleansing, Live Blood Analysis and acupuncture by internationally qualified specialists, not to mention the best quality Colon Hydrotherapy unit in Asia, run by Nigel.
I know a lot about cleaning the body, supporting inner growth, and uplifting the spirit. If that is your thing, I look forward to meeting you!
I love travel, writing (we do writing events and competitions at The Ark), breathwork, films, dancing, and really exploring the art of unashamed relaxation, which is what Ubud is all about! I am a member of the Ubud Sound Healers Collective, and spend much of my time at the Yoga Barn providing sound healing journey's for many who come from all over the world.
I have chosen Bali as my home because I find it the most beautiful place in the world, where hearts are open and smiles are everywhere. Almost half of the people who visit the island postpone their departure, and many return to live here.
If you are looking for a holiday that may change your life, then you have found the right place. There are hundreds of different things to do here, with multiple events every day. The Balinese are amongst the most evolved spiritual beings on the planet and they will be only too happy to share their culture with you. You are welcome here.
My motto is 'We can change the world, one breath at a time!'
