Spacious third-story loft with queen-size bed, closet and mini-fridge. Free use of the gourmet kitchen and cozy living room. We always provide a light breakfast of cereals or muffins, and coffee or tea is always available for guests. Our patio/secluded garden is the perfect place to dine al fresco for spring and summer. Share 1.5 baths.
One thing I must mention, the loft has a steep flight of stairs typical of houses built 150 years ago. If you have limited mobility, it might pose a problem.
We provide parking and as recommended by Airbnb, we are completely compliant to Lancaster city residential bed and breakfast rules. We also provide parking.
Located in the National Historic Preservation neighborhood of Old Town, this 1840’s townhome is a short walk to Lancaster’s world-famous Central Market, art galleries, a medley of great restaurants and cool shops galore.
Beer lovers: the Lancaster Pub Scene is always on...with incredible selections of craft and imported beers, live music and locally grown restaurants and bistros.
Are you a cyclist? As a member of the 400+ member Lancaster Bike Club, I can direct you to bikes tours and club rides. I’m always game for a good ride, too.
Philadelphia is only a $15 train ride away with a rich history of early America and our founding fathers, museums, Reading Terminal Market and lots of brotherly love.
Old Town is one of Lancaster’s earliest areas of development during Colonial times. The neighborhood contains houses dating from the 1700s. The unique historical landmarks of Central Market and Fulton Theatre promise special experiences for visitors. Lancaster Central Market, is one of ten of the world’s top markets and is the country's oldest continuously-operating farmers' market, offers fresh produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, flowers, and craft.
Likewise, Fulton Theatre is the oldest continuously-operating theatre in the country and one of only three national historic landmark theaters. There are many historic attractions all within a few blocks of my house.
Downtown Lancaster's charm is rooted in rich history. Established in 1730, the city began as a trading post in the wilderness, which also served as a frontier checkpoint for pioneers. During the 1800s, the city developed into an industrial powerhouse, fueled by accessible railroad transportation and the title of the second-largest tobacco seed leaf market in the United States.
As a convenient location for east-west travel, Lancaster City served as Pennsylvania's capital and at one time was considered for the nation's capital. Today, it still maintains hundreds of historical landmarks, which contribute to it being the largest National Historic Register District in the country.
Carol is hospitable and generous, and I simply can't say enough good things about her and her beautiful home. Our room was lovely, and we felt both welcome and at the same time, we had plenty of privacy. If you are looking for a really classy place to stay, you could not do better than to stay at Carol's place.
We could go on & on about our amazing stay with Carol! She was such a thoughtful host: lighting a fire for us to enjoy on cool mornings, setting out coffee & breakfast in the mornings & treats at night. She had amazing restaurant recommendations. Maison was probably the best meal we have ever eaten (and we do a lot of eating!). On top of everything else, Carol is an amazing artist & it was so fun to see and talk about her work. We were so blessed to have the opportunity to stay with Carol in her beautiful historic & well-decorated home! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.
Carol was an excellent host...she has a parking spot in a lot 2 blocks away so no need to find parking...breakfast was always provided if needed...the room was very quiet, clean and cozy and she allowed access to the kitchen, sitting/fireplace area...she was extremely friendly and provided a printout of all that was going on and places to see/ eat within walking distance of her house...would definitely recommend and stay again...thanx Carol
Carol was terrific. She always had a fire going in her amazing fireplace. It was a perfect getaway.
I can't heap enough praise on Carol. I had a absolutely wonderful time. Oh yes, her place is also charming.
What an amazing place ! We'll definitly come back in the summer. Carol is very kind and welcoming, she did everything to make us comfortable and we felt being at home. I would recommend enjoying a coffee by the fireplace. It feels so great.
Carol had kindly prepared some coffee and tea for breakfast.
The house itself is beautiful, very artsy and colorful, located downtown, very close to restaurants, shops, markets.... Don't know where to go, ask Carol, she will give you the places you don't want to miss !
I very much enjoyed my stay at Carol's house in the historic old town of Lancaster. The 3rd floor loft was quiet and comfortable. I had a desk to work at and the wifi was excellent. The bathroom and kitchen were also ideal. I was able to heat-up meals easily in the kitchen. Carol made every effort to make sure my stay was a good one. She checked-in with me daily to make sure I had everything I needed. I would certainly stay here again on a future visit to Lancaster.
I had a wonderful stay with Carol. She is a warm, welcoming, and thoughtful host. I immediately felt at home with the cozy fireplace and comfortable loft. It was nice to come home to such a clean and quiet space. I was there for a week and hope to return!
Carol, a talented artist, is a hostess who seemed ready to do anything to make us comfortable. We sat before the welcoming fire in a charming room decorated with her drawings. Even with Parkinsons, my partner could negotiate the stairs'. The location in the old town enabled us to walk to everything! Thanks, Carol! We enjoyed it so much.
Wonderful stay in this cozy house. Carol is a very generous host and fun to talk to as well. This is the first time we rented a room and not a whole apt or house, but she made us feel like the whole place was ours. Just wish we had more time to light up the fireplace! Next time. Thanks Carol and see you again soon.
