Small apartment in my art glass studio.
Fully equipped efficiency kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker. One standard bed and one standard futon. Library of art books, DVD and VCR videos but no general TV reception. The studio is located in Ranchos de Taos right on the border of Taos. 4 miles from Taos Plaza. Walk to the Sage Brush Inn restaurant and bar. La Cocina restaurant across the street. Martina's Hall restaurant and bar, the historic Ranchos Church and many other restaurants within 1/2 mile. Bus stop very close.
I usually work in the studio in the back from 10 AM to 5 PM and may use the bathroom and the kitchen to make a sandwich for lunch. The apartment is private and secure. Guests are welcome to use the front room to have dinner, watch videos, listen to music or read a book. Perfect environment for the creative person.
Glass workshops available.
The place is on the main drag in Taos on the left when coming in from Santa Fe. The apartment is part of a house that perhaps holds 2 or 3 other rooms in addition to the space allotted for the visitor. I didn't meet the owner during the visit, but that was fine as everything in the apartment was self explanatory. It had very nice gas heat, which was welcoming given the cold nights they get. They also had an unexpectedly fun assortment of old VHS and CDs. There was a kitchen, though no stove. All in all I was very happy with the place and would definitely recommend it.
Staying at Topsy was a great experience. Nice atmosphere, lovely glass work and a comfortable bed. Half the price of neighboring hotels. I highly recommend it if you want something nontraditional!
Excellent digs! The building is right on the main drag of Taos but about a mile from all of the hustle and bustle of downtown, so it's a bit more quiet. Grocery store, coffee shops and a Walgreen's nearby. There's also a buffer room (an art showroom) between the apartment and the parking lot / road so we hardly heard traffic. The apartment was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. Michael was hardly there but was very attentive via email. At one point, the pilot light went out, resulting in the heat not working. However, Michael came right over and fixed the issue. He gave us plenty of privacy and overall, was a great host. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in Taos.
Staying at the Topsy Gallery in Taos was a (email hidden)fortable, clean and fun. Located right off the main road (but no problems with noise), it's convenient to anywhere you're headed in the area. I loved the collection of classic films...perfect for a cozy night in. What a deal! Michael was a great host and I'd definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay! Lots of space, cool art, and a comfy, homey atmosphere. Would stay here again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Topsy. We dug the art and the place was very comfortable. I do recommend.
Michael's place was cozy and great. The beds were comfortable and Michael was very communicative and helpful. We had a problem at one point with the heater, but we notified him at the start of the day and by the time we got home Michael had taken care of everything so that our stay was not disrupted any further. The location was fine. There is no stove which we were a bit surprised to discover, but I don't think it was advertised as having a stove, so no big deal. We would definitely stay here again if we found ourselves in Taos.
Le studio est spacieux , pratique et la deco originale, bien situé au bord de la route principale de Taos. Mickael et Heather sont très sympa et très disponible. Nous recommandons cet endroit et cette location.
Michael and Heather's was perfect.close to town close to the spa, gave me a lot of inspiration artist cal.And the music and videos were great. For 7 days i was entertained by the place itself.Thank you Michael and Heather
This trip was both of our first times to the Southwest. The studio at the gallery was conveniently located and very comfortable. We really enjoyed talking with Michael and learning about the arts scene in Taos, too!
