When we arrived Roberto met us at a bridge near the apartment and took us inside, it was exactly how it looks on the pictures and at first we were pleased with the location. We were disappointed to find there was no oven, kettle or toaster and so had to make do with the bare minimum of kitchen equipment. Venice is an expensive place to go out for food so sometimes staying in is the only option, however the poorly equipped kitchen made this virtually impossible. The first night of our stay we learnt that the noise of the street is not blocked at all by the double glazing and found every night of the stay to be a struggle to sleep as the road was permanently busy. Roberto made us feel uncomfortable in the apartment as he turned up a few evenings ringing on the bell and coming into the apartment to pick up 'documents'. The nature in which Roberto knocked on the apartment door worried us as we were not expecting to see him until the end of our trip, and he was very persistent leaving us no alternative but to answer. Roberto gave the impression that he would have entered the apartment even if we were not there when he knocked, as he used his own set of keys to get into the apartment building. Very hard to communicate with Roberto as he couldn't speak much English and there was a lack of verbal communication as the language barrier was so strong. Overall i would say the apartment itself is the way it looks in pictures but would not recommend staying here if you want to get some sleep and expect to have privacy in an apartment you are paying a good price for. Wouldn't go back.
The apartment is very clean and well located. It's great to be on a busy street and near a canal. It really feels like you are in the heart of Venice. There is a vegetable market, butchers, bakery, coffee shops very close by. The neighbourhood feels "lived in", not only a tourist place.
We stayed here in January, with the windows closed all the time. Despite the fact that the street is really busy, it does quiet down at night, but you will hear noise early in the morning and throughout the day.
The two things that we were disappointed with were the sparsely equipped kitchen (no wine glasses, cheese grater, vegetable peeler, good knives, staples such as salt, oil etc) which is frustrating when you want to cook with the wonderful local ingredients. Secondly, the wifi connection cut out frequently.
Our host, Roberto, was very friendly and accommodating.
Roberto is a great host. He is very responsive and conscientious and met us right on time. He was very quick to answer any questions we had by email during our stay. And his apartment is fantastic. It is in a really good location - complete with a canal view! The walk from the station is less than ten minutes and the walk to the Rialto and St Marks is maybe 15-20 minutes. I loved the fact that although the apartment has been recently renovated, it has been done in a style that suits Venice. My family loved the fact that there was a bath with lots of hot water. And the apartment is really clean - spotless. There are fresh food markets right outside the door and on a couple of mornings, there was a seafood market around the corner. If we ever come back to Venice, we will stay her again. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Venice, stop looking. You have found it.
A really, really sweet place. Its romantic, feels like we were living the way we would have lived 100 years ago (except with a nice kitchen).
Roberto is a good, conscientious host, made sure we understood how to work everything, where to find what we needed and generally that we would have a good time.
Our young child loved the low chairs in the bedroom, and it was completely awesome to open the windows and see the world going by.
A great place.
Roberto is a very wonderful host. He picked us up at the Alilaguna Orange stop (just around the corner) and helped us back there at 6 in the morning when we left. Though there were only two of us, the apartment is spacious, and could easily sleep another couple on the fold out couch. The bedroom is spacious and the bed comfortable. The kitchen has all kinds of utensils. Canareggio is a fun area, particularly at night at the wine bars. This makes up for the fact that it is not near St. Marks Square. However, the square is 20 minutes by foot, and transport by vaporetto is equally easy and fun. We would stay again definitely.
Roberto is a wonderful host. He is friendly, attentive and hospitable. He left us some pastries and they were really good! In addition, Roberto was very interested and provided lots of helpful information regarding the neighborhood and Venice in general. The apartment is in a good location (walking distance to wherever you want to go) and very cozy and charming. Moreover, it was very clean and very spacious. We cooked twice in the fully equipped kitchen and that was super. We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Venice and definitely recommend this apartment to everyone who would like to visit Venice.
although we had to wait a while for Roberto on the Guglie Bridge ... the apt was only steps away ...the apt was spacious and clean..with grandma's furniture.. And a chandelier in the bedroom!.....not only is the apt minutes from the train station...but around the corner is the stop for the Vaporetto to the airport!!....it's a lovely area....close but far enough away from the crowds of San Marco...it was lovely to be able to lean out the window and see the canal and the comings and going of commerce and people....it is a neighborhood... bakeries...butcher shops... even a hardware store.. open air fruit stands and also plenty of restaurants at your door..so eating in sometimes is a pleasure...& except for difficulty connecting with WI-FI....our stay was most enjoyable..
Excellent accueil de la part de Roberto. L'appartement est très bien situé. C'est un grand appartement. Tout est neuf et parfait. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour. Nous recommandons cet endroit.
