About This Listing
Note: I am particularly interested in renting this listing from June 17 on and until the end of July. The end date can be pretty flexible.
This is a wonderful place atop a quiet hill at the very heart of Los Angeles in Angeleno Heights which is in the neighborhood of Echo Park.
Certainly one of the MOST central location you could possibly be in LA. By car, outside of rush hour times it is 5 minutes from downtown, 10 to 15 minutes from Los Felis and Silver Lake, 15 minutes from Hollywood, 20 to 30 minutes to Venice/Santa Monica/beaches, 15 to 20 minutes to Pasadena or Burbank and the Valley.
Angeleno Heights is a historical neighborhood; It has the highest concentration of Victorian and Craftsman Houses in LA (this apartment is in a Craftsman from 1904) and one of the city's very first residential neighborhood. Truly one of the best kept secret places in LA. Echo Park at large is a thriving neighborhood full of resources with great restaurants, shops and a rich and diverse community of invested locals. Take a stroll by the Echo Park lake or a walk/hike/bike in beautiful Elysian Park, 10 min walk from the house. The park is also home of the LA Dodger Stadium. Easy access to public transports too. Farmers Market in Echo park on Fridays.
The apartment is located on the first floor of the house and is technically a one and a half bedroom, as it has:
-one very spacious living room/kitchen with lots of light and great views of downtown LA. It has a sofa that opens up into a bed. The living also has a table and chairs and a long and low coffee table. Of course all the cooking and eating tools are at your disposal also.
-one 'entrance room' which can be separated from the living room by sliding French doors and has a bathroom attached with shower, toilet and sink. It has a built in book shelve, a reading chair and a desk.
-a separate bedroom in the back with its own side patio entrance and its own large bathroom attached with claw feet bathtub, toilet and sink. The bedroom has a very comfy REAL JAPANESE FUTON (double size bed) on REAL TATAMIS MATS, NOT a cheap fold-able so called futon. It also has shelve room and a low table for your belongings. There is a closet with some space to hang your clothing too.
As a whole apartment, it is basically a perfect place for a couple but can accommodate a single person or possibly 3 to 4 people. There is an additional $15 fee per person per day after the first two guests. There are fresh sheets, towels and soap for your convenience. In addition you can enjoy the charming side patio with space to BBQ and sit at a table outside. There is a front yard too. Also convenient: laundry and dryer (that work with quarters) in the back of the house for tenants usage.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST; I want to rent the place to people who like cats as my dear Henri and Charlotte will need to be fed (twice a day) and loved for the time I am away. They otherwise do their 'business' outside, thanks to a cat door in the back room and they are very clean, sweet, discreet and loving.
Please contact me with any questions and for further info/details.
Note: the minimum stay is 5 nights, except when there is less than 5 days available in a row indicated in the calendar.
To be present at least twice a day to feed the cats, pet them and talk to them! ;-)
Ideally they need feeding once in the morning and once in the evening and need their water changed every other day.
To make sure water fossets are closed properly (especially in shower and shower room sink)
To make sure the doors are locked when away of course but at night too
To make sure one light is left on in the entrance room when you are not home at night
To make sure the heat is off when leaving the house
Noise needs to be kept to a minimum after 11pm
No smoking inside. Ok on porch or patio
Not mandatory but very much appreciated: taking off the shoes inside
Also I'd appreciate guests to water the plants (there are only a couple) about once a week and get the mail form mail box a couple times a week
To leave the bedroom door open (even just cracked) for cats to be able to go from outside to their food plate in kitchen
No to have exterior guests for security reasons
IMPORTANT: for security reasons, I always ask a high resolution pic of an official ID (passport or driver's license) from my guests once I've agreed to rent the place to them, which I toss way as soon as the guests leave.
Antoine opened his place to me and made me feel very comfortable. The apartment wash comfortable both in the heat of the day (upper 80s) and at night (low 60s). The location is in a beautiful neighborhood very close to some of my favorite aspects of Los Angeles. The other tenants in the house were so very friendly, and made me feel welcome and at home. I very much hope to stay here again.
I had such a perfect stay at Antoine's apartment... the house is really light and sunny and airy, there's plenty of room, a lovely roll-top bath and a great kitchen, and it's all really nicely decorated. I also loved the porch and the front steps and the garden and chatting with the neighbours. And most of all the cats, Henri & Charlotte, who are both adorable and excellent housemates. I was very sad to leave them and this place!
Antoine was a completely brilliant host - really helpful and warm and generous with his time, and able to tell you all the best secrets of the neighbourhood. You should also ask to hear his music too!
Angelino Heights feels like a very special part of Echo Park - it's a a great place to wander around and admire the houses. It's very peaceful, and there's the park nearby, but you're close enough to the bustle of Sunset Boulevard if you want bars and coffee shops etc, and also a short trip to Downtown.
Thank you for my lovely visit Antoine (and Charlotte and Henri)!
Antoine was an excellent, friendly, and attentive host for our stay in LA. He was very easy to work with before we arrived and responded promptly to texts. He met us at the apt. the night we arrived and gave us the grand tour.
The apartment was freshly cleaned. It's spacious for two, has a nice kitchen, sunny and warm living room, and an awesome porch with views of downtown LA. The Japanese-style futon was comfortable to sleep on. The wifi was easy to hook up to.
The neighborhood is, besides Antoine himself, the best part about this apt. It's a gem in LA, a real, walking neighborhood close to downtown. And if you're going to a Dodgers game, you could literally walk there. The Victorian and Craftman houses are gorgeous, and the businesses on Sunset & Echo Park are an easy walk with tons to eat and do.
And the cats are lovers, so sweet and easy to take care of.
Thanks so much to Antoine for his hospitality and consideration. If I'm ever in LA again, I'll def look him up!
Antoine's place was lovely! The location is quiet, convenient, and the neighborhood is full of personality--Victorian houses along the block. We enjoyed having coffee on the porch every morning and visiting the two parks that are within walking distance. The apartment was clean and charming and his cats were spectacular hosts! We stayed three weeks and would definitely rent again.
Antoine was a great host. His place is located in a very unique neighborhood, surrounded by Victorian buildings, and just minutes away from all the coolest parts of LA!
Really nice apartment in a really nice, peaceful neighborhood. Echopark is an area with lots of things going on and you can get to the downtown area by walking distance. Parking spot close to is easy to find. House looks really good, accessoriated and comfortable. Chilling in the front porch in the morning is a great option, and the frontyard looks really sweet as well. If you like cats, you'll love Henry and Charlotte. Communication with Antoine has been great before and during the stay. Definitely recommended.
Charming house, excellent neighborhood, perfect host, cute cats... We were really sad to leave Antoine's place !
Very close to hip Silverlake, Echo Park and Los Feliz, but also to Downtown (on which you can enjoy the view from the front porch) the house is situated in a calm and friendly neighborhood. Antoine is a discreet and thoughtful host, he provided us with plenty of good addresses in L.A. The fact that he speaks fluent French was definitely a bonus, a good thing to know for future French visitors.
About the Host, Antoine
I am a responsible, respectful, discreet and reliable pro musician (guitarist/performer and composer) living in LA but traveling a lot for my job too, and for the love of it, hence my interest in renting my apartment. I have been hosted through Airbnb and not around the world and love to have guests too. This place is a little heaven in the heart of LA and I truly love it as do most people who stay here. To top it all, my cats Henri and Charlotte aren't just mere feline in need for attention, they kind of are the hosts when I'm gone and I've been told they are good at it!
