About this listing
Peaceful, inspiring and rustic atmosphere in one of the best kept secret and oldest historical neighborhood in Los Angeles: Angelino Heights. Ideal for artists, creative types and cat lovers!
LOOKING TO RENT FOR MAY-JUNE-JULY 2016! -after/before too
This is a wonderful place atop a quiet hill at the very heart of Los Angeles in Angeleno Heights which is in the neighborhood of Echo Park.
Certainly one of the MOST central location you could possibly be in LA. By car, outside of rush hour times it is 5 minutes from downtown, 10 to 15 minutes from Los Felis and Silver Lake, 15 minutes from Hollywood, 20 to 30 minutes to Venice/Santa Monica/beaches, 15 to 20 minutes to Pasadena or Burbank and the Valley.
Angeleno Heights is a historical neighborhood; It has the highest concentration of Victorian and Craftsman Houses in LA (this apartment is in a Craftsman from 1904) and one of the city's very first residential neighborhood. Truly one of the best kept secret places in LA. Echo Park at large is a thriving neighborhood full of resources with great restaurants, shops and a rich and diverse community of invested locals. Take a stroll by the Echo Park lake or a walk/hike/bike in beautiful Elysian Park, 10 min walk from the house. The park is also home of the LA Dodger Stadium. Easy access to public transports too. Farmers Market in Echo park on Fridays.
The apartment is located on the first floor of the house and is technically a one and a half bedroom, as it has:
-one very spacious living room/kitchen with lots of light and great views of downtown LA. It has a sofa that opens up into a bed. The living also has a table and chairs and a long and low coffee table. Of course all the cooking and eating tools are at your disposal also.
-one 'entrance room' which can be separated from the living room by sliding French doors and has a bathroom attached with shower, toilet and sink. It has a built in book shelve, a reading chair and a desk.
-a separate bedroom in the back with its own side patio entrance and its own large bathroom attached with claw feet bathtub, toilet and sink. The bedroom has a very comfy REAL JAPANESE FUTON (double size bed) on REAL TATAMIS MATS, NOT a cheap fold-able so called futon. It also has shelve room and a low table for your belongings. There is a closet with some space to hang your clothing too.
As a whole apartment, it is basically a perfect place for a couple but can accommodate a single person or possibly 3 to 4 people. There is an additional $15 fee per person per day after the first two guests. There are fresh sheets, towels and soap for your convenience. In addition you can enjoy the charming side patio with space to BBQ and sit at a table outside. There is a front yard too. Also convenient: laundry and dryer (that work with quarters) in the back of the house for tenants usage.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST; I want to rent the place to people who like cats as my dear Henri and Charlotte will need to be fed (twice a day) and loved for the time I am away. They otherwise do their 'business' outside, thanks to a cat door in the back room and they are very clean, sweet, discreet and loving.
Please contact me with any questions and for further info/details.
Note: the minimum stay is 5 nights, except when there is less than 5 days available in a row indicated in the calendar.
To be present at least twice a day to feed the cats, pet them and talk to them! ;-)
Ideally they need feeding once in the morning and once in the evening and need their water changed every other day.
To make sure water fossets are closed properly (especially in shower and shower room sink)
To make sure the doors are locked when away of course but at night too
To make sure one light is left on in the entrance room when you are not home at night
To make sure the heat is off when leaving the house
Noise needs to be kept to a minimum after 11pm
No smoking inside. Ok on porch or patio
Not mandatory but very much appreciated: taking off the shoes inside
Also I'd appreciate guests to water the plants (there are only a couple) about once a week and get the mail form mail box a couple times a week
To leave the bedroom door open (even just cracked) for cats to be able to go from outside to their food plate in kitchen
No to have exterior guests for security reasons
IMPORTANT: for security reasons, I always ask a high resolution pic of an official ID (passport or driver's license) from my guests once I've agreed to rent the place to them, which I toss way as soon as the guests leave.
