This is a wonderful place atop a quiet hill at the very heart of Los Angeles in Angeleno Heights which is in the neighborhood of Echo Park.
Certainly one of the MOST central location you could possibly be in LA. By car, outside of rush hour times it is 5 minutes from downtown, 10 to 15 minutes from Los Felis and Silver Lake, 15 minutes from Hollywood, 20 to 30 minutes to Venice/Santa Monica/beaches, 15 to 20 minutes to Pasadena or Burbank and the Valley.
Angeleno Heights is a historical neighborhood; It has the highest concentration of Victorian and Craftsman Houses in LA (this apartment is in a Vic from 1904) and one of the city's very first residential neighborhood. Truly one of the best kept secret places in LA. Echo Park at large is a thriving neighborhood full of resources with great restaurants, shops and a rich and diverse community of invested locals. Take a stroll by the Echo Park lake or a walk/hike/bike in beautiful Elysian Park, 10 min walk from the house. The park is also home of the LA Dodger Stadium. Easy access to public transports too. Farmers Market in Echo park on Fridays.
The apartment is located on the first floor of the house and is technically a one and a half bedroom, as it has:
-one very spacious living room/kitchen with lots of light and great views of downtown LA. It has a sofa that opens up into a bed. The living also has a table and chairs and a long and low coffee table. Of course all the cooking and eating tools are at your disposal also.
-one 'entrance room' which can be separated from the living room by sliding French doors and has a bathroom attached with shower, toilet and sink. It has a built in book shelve, a reading chair and a desk.
-a separate bedroom in the back with its own side patio entrance and its own large bathroom attached with claw feet bathtub, toilet and sink. The bedroom has a very comfy REAL JAPANESE FUTON (double size bed) on REAL TATAMIS MATS, NOT a cheap fold-able so called futon. It also has shelve room and a low table for your belongings. There is a closet with some space to hang your clothing too.
As a whole apartment, it is basically a perfect place for a couple but can accommodate a single person or possibly 3 to 4 people. There is an additional $15 fee per person per day after the first two guests. There are fresh sheets, towels and soap for your convenience. In addition you can enjoy the charming side patio with space to BBQ and sit at a table outside. There is a front yard too. Also convenient: laundry and dryer (that work with quarters) in the back of the house for tenants usage.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST; I want to rent the place to people who like cats as my dear Henri and Charlotte will need to be fed (twice a day) and loved for the time I am away. They otherwise do their 'business' outside, thanks to a cat door in the back room and they are very clean, sweet, discreet and loving.

Antoine's place was lovely! The location is quiet, convenient, and the neighborhood is full of personality--Victorian houses along the block. We enjoyed having coffee on the porch every morning and visiting the two parks that are within walking distance. The apartment was clean and charming and his cats were spectacular hosts! We stayed three weeks and would definitely rent again.
Antoine was a great host. His place is located in a very unique neighborhood, surrounded by Victorian buildings, and just minutes away from all the coolest parts of LA!
Really nice apartment in a really nice, peaceful neighborhood. Echopark is an area with lots of things going on and you can get to the downtown area by walking distance. Parking spot close to is easy to find. House looks really good, accessoriated and comfortable. Chilling in the front porch in the morning is a great option, and the frontyard looks really sweet as well. If you like cats, you'll love Henry and Charlotte. Communication with Antoine has been great before and during the stay. Definitely recommended.
Charming house, excellent neighborhood, perfect host, cute cats... We were really sad to leave Antoine's place !
Very close to hip Silverlake, Echo Park and Los Feliz, but also to Downtown (on which you can enjoy the view from the front porch) the house is situated in a calm and friendly neighborhood. Antoine is a discreet and thoughtful host, he provided us with plenty of good addresses in L.A. The fact that he speaks fluent French was definitely a bonus, a good thing to know for future French visitors.
Antoine's place is incredible. I was working downtown, so for me it was super convenient - just 1 mile from work everyday, and with a car it was a breeze (5 minutes - no highways/traffic), but even without a car it would still be great. Sunset Blvd. is just a short stroll down the hill to great bars and restaurants of Echo Park and Silver Lake. Also the bus runs down Sunset to just about anywhere you want to go.
The neighborhood (Angeleno Heights) is gorgeous and filled with old Victorian and Craftsman houses. The other residents of the property are also wonderful - there are apartments upstairs, as well as some bungalows around the back, but everyone is very friendly and helpful, should you need anything during your stay.
The apartment itself is spacious, sunny, and comfy. Wi-fi works great, the kitchen is fully functional and stocked with pots, pan, dishes, and some really great knives even. 2 full bathrooms, one with a wonderful clawfoot tub, and the other with a rather small shower, but a shower nonetheless! Antoine cleared out plenty of closet space for me too. The laundry out back works great. The two feline residents are wonderful too - Henri will love you all day long while Charlotte is a bit more modest. They are low-maintenance, though - and let themselves in and out to do their business through a doggie door in the back. The front porch is WONDERFUL for a morning coffee or evening beer. There is an amazing fig tree in the front yard, and parking is always available within a 1 block radius.
Antoine himself is also fantastic, responsive, and friendly. Everything about this place is good. You should stay here.
Antoine was a fantastic host and very helpful. The house was great and had everything you could need. The area is also perfect. There is so much going on in Echo Park and you can walk downtown in under 30 minutes. I wouldn't hesitate in coming back. The cats are very sweet too!
A great, chill place in a beautiful neighborhood. One of the few LA areas where walking can get you to almost anything you need. Antoine was super mellow, overall a perfect experience. Highly recommended.
Antoine's apartment was great! Lovely space located on the ground floor of an old Victorian on a great street. My husband and I were very said to leave the place. The cats were an amazing bonus and super sweet. Antoine was a great host and provided everything we needed :)
