The Space

Comfortable, chic, and complete. This roomy one bedroom, one bathroom house is the perfect place to spend a weekend or a week for business or pleasure, The house is newly renovated with blonde hardwood floors, new stainless steel appliances, a full kitchen equipped to cook and entertain with everything you might need to prepare or to serve meals. The large bathroom in travertine tile offers a claw-foot tub ideal for soaking and pampering. The living area has a flat screen TV and is wired for free Netflix and Hulu. The vibe is mid-century modern from the furniture. There is ample closet space, a large washer dryer you can freely use and of course the house has free wifi. The house has its own entrance and comes with one off-street parking space making parking easy and hassle free.

Outside your back door is the heavenly zen spa deck. Relax in the sparkling jacuzzi, do yoga or meditate on the lounge, dine alfresco with friends or have a glass of wine around the fire-pit. Relax, unwind, read a book or work, soak in the sun or stare at the stars - you'll love this space.

Quietly nestled in the hills, it's super relaxing and quiet but just a block and a half's wander to all the hipster action of Sunset Junction, the center of Silver Lake. Chill and hipster watch at one of the uber-cool cafe's, dine at some of the areas great restaurants, shop at the boutiques or meet friends at one of the great local bars, all an easy waltz or stumble from home. If you want to power walk with the stars and models, jog or stroll around the Silver Lake Reservoir, Griffith Park or Elysian Park - the local area offers great walking in LA.

The metro is 15 minutes walk away. It is easy access to either Los Feliz /Hollywood or the edgy Echo Park/ Downtown LA area in the the other direction by car, bus, metro or bike. Its a quick few minutes to the 101 freeway ramp.

Incredible value for your travelling dollar, this lovely house offers the best location in the hippest part of LA at an amazing price.

  • Our stay at Peter's place was really fantastic, one of my best airbnb experiences for sure. Peter was super quick to respond to messages throughout the process from booking to check-in and throughout the stay. The place was super clean and stocked with everything we needed for a weeklong stay. The location was great as well, we managed to do car free LA just fine with walking + transit (easy walk to Metro was nice with a great late night taco truck on the way home at Virgil/Santa Monica). There was lots of stuff to walk to a 1.5 couple blocks away, from coffee at Intelligencia and tacos/burritos at Tacos Delta. LA was a super fun vacation, in no small part due to having a perfect home base at Peter's.

  • Amazing apartment and a great neighborhood - the garden and the hot tub are huge perks and the fact that you can actually take an enjoyable stroll out to the cafe or restaurant from the house (no car necessary!) was a totally new LA experience for me. Peter is a fantastic host and his place is stylized clean and comfortable - highly recommended!

  • The second we walked into the bungalow, we immediately fell in love. It was modern, clean, airy and relaxing. We had a view of the deck area and could hear the water from the hot tub (it really was zen, like it says on the ad). My husband and I immediately went outside and felt like we were on vacation. Peter is a lovely host and welcomed us with a bottle of wine and a bag of local coffee beans (this really helped put a good start to our mornings). The place had all the amenities we could possibly need: wifi, TV, fridge, washer/dryer, A/C, etc. The bathroom also had a hairdryer and some fine quality handsoap, shampoo/conditioner and bodywash. AND there's ample parking (good luck finding this in L.A.). We would definitely consider going back if we ever need a place in Silver Lake. We highly recommend Peter's place!

  • My second time staying here was ALMOST as excellent as my first... only because I wasn't able to stay longer! The dogs even remembered me. I'll definitely be heading back to Peter's Airbnb in future.

  • BOOK THIS NOW. Really. Do it now. This was the absolute best stay. The apartment is just the right size and was ridiculously close to so many wonderful restaurants, juice bars, booze bars, record stores, vintage stores, super easy to navigate to all parts of LA and beyond. Ideal location. Wonderful host. Peter greeted us warmly and was so very helpful. We knew in advance what we were going to do in the neighborhood but it was still well appreciated to have Peter's recommendations on-hand and his offer to be helpful with anything we may have needed. Off-street parking is great. Silver Lake is a really fun neighborhood. If you're going to LA to relax and not looking for the typical tourist thing this should be where you stay. Doing the tourist thing is great too, of course, and the parking here is GOLD - no worries...just roll up and park at the apartment and then roll on out to anything you want - traffic aside, LA is REALLY easy to navigate with a car. We didn't take advantage of the hot tub but the back patio area is relaxing and great for a reading spot. I loved staying here. ALSO, the apartment is SUPER clean...I am a bit of a priss, so that's not taking this lightly...so clean...so wonderful. AND communication was super easy...ridiculously so. Book this.

  • Nice neighborhood close to restaurants and shopping and the accommodations were first rate. Peter was prompt in returning our posted questions prior to our stay and he was available but unobtrusive while we were on the property. The list of recommendations he provided to us for shopping, restaurants etc... was very helpful and each one we tried was a very positive experience. We would stay again and I have already and will continue to recommend to friends.

  • The Zen Getaway was relaxing, clean, and comfortable, with a great outdoor living space. It had everything we needed and more, and was located on a quiet street, yet convenient to everything. And it even included ample off street parking.

Peter was responsive and good to work with. Even though we arrived late due to a delayed flight, he greeted us personally, chatted for a while, and made us feel welcome.

Thanks, Peter! We look forward to staying with you again.

    Highly recommended!

  • This was my first time using airbnb and the Zen getaway was not a disappointment! I had some change of circumstances with regards to my booking but Peter was very accommodating. The place itself is in a great location, walking distance from the Main Street with restaurants and the place was clean and comfortable. The outside deck is a great chill out zone and loves the company of the two doggies who would often come and say hello :) Peter is a top bloke and I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in LA. Thanks so much!

“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.” ― Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt
Peter grew up in Australia and moved to New York under the guise of graduate study two decades ago. He lived, loved and worked in New York for ten years before surrendering to the sun-shiny ease of Los Angeles and a job producing bad studio television. These days he works from home and enjoys occasional bursts of gardening and puttering about locally. He finds the running of menial errands quite soothing. He retired from producing and currently ascribes to being part of that soloist, dawdling, covert and best of all, immeasurably vague profession, "Writer." Peter is as gay as the day is long but very straight friendly. Some of his best friends fall into the frighteningly straight category. He lives in a house at the back of the properties with his trusty side-kick, Deebo Brown - a placid and lovable large brown dog, gentle and loving to babies, children and people of all religious and political persuasions. Together they are determined to use their Aussie and Canine genetics for good, not for evil and to help make your stay great. Feel free to ask any questions you have about us or the property you are looking at booking. We really do try to make your stay memorable in the loveliest way. That might be setting the bar overly high but we really are believers in bars on the highest setting. Please let us know if anything is not as impressive as it sounds or looks.
