Our stay at Chris appartment was absolutely perfect. Big condo, very clean, we even had shampoo and bodywash waiting for us. Nice and quiet place, not dowtown but there is taxi in the parking 24/7, and the ride is 10 minutes and very cheap. You should definitly go!
We stayed at his room with 6 people. This place was very clean and convenient. There was a big supermarket (7:00am - 9:00pm) ,some cafés and nail salon within a minute walk. One of the most convenient point is that there are always vinasun taxies under the apartment. We could go to downtown or airport using taxi anytime. It costs around 130,000VND.
Actually we stayed with too much people for this room, so 1 person used a sofa, and another one used a mattress( it costs ＄25). And there are 2 bathrooms, but one is broken( we couldn't use hot water). Except about shower, here is a perfect place to stay in Ho Chi Minh. I recommend this room!
Thank you so much, Chris!!
We had a fantastic stay in HCMC! This apartment was absolutely perfect. Comfortable beds, good shower, nice view and everything you could need downstairs! The air conditioner in one of the bedrooms wasn't working when we got there, but Lam had it fixed by the next day! Lam was extremely helpful and set us up with a great tour company for excursions to the tunnels and a Mekong delta trip! Fantastic property, highly recommended!!
We've just came back from Saigon and Chris apartment has been the perfect place to be. Nice view from living room, supernice little balcony, comfortable beds, huge swimmingpool. The check in was perfectly organized by Lam, who's been so nice to give us lots of useful tips about HCMC, taxi available 24/7 just in front, laundry( if you don't want to use the apartment's washing machine) restaurants, coffeshop and supermarket just downstairs. Thanks again Chris and Lam , best whishes to both of you
We stayed two weeks at Chris' Wow! 2 bedroom, Pool & River Views appartment. It was very comfortable. We really felt at home, like it was our own place. Downstairs of the flat their is an open square with pool, little garden, seats, etc. At this square are many little restaurants and shops. In the evening it is a very good place to hang around, like many of the neighbours do. You can have a good meal for little money. There is also a store where you can buy everything you need.
Lam was a very good property manager and tried (and achieved) to let us feel comfortable and at home. He picked us up at the airport and told us a lot about HCMC and living in Vietnam. He also bought us some simcards, as we asked him to. We are very contented with his service and attention.
We did not met Chris. But durig our stay he kept in touch via email. Before, during and after our stay at his appartment the communication with Chris was perfect: open, friendly for us custumors (even with changing our data of stay), attentive, and he always answers very quick!
We really love to stay at this appartment again some other time! Now we have our 'own' home at HCMC...
I stayed at the apartment for 16 days with my friend, he is 42 and I am 53, we are both professionals living in Texas.
The best part of staying at the apartment was Lam, the manager who over saw our stay at the apartment. He was awesome and without him our stay wouldn't have been as fruitful. Lam was always helpful and when we needed his help he was extremely helpful. Lam gets a 10+ in our opinion.
The apartment was very nice and had a few issues which didn't cause us any problems. To be fair, The lighting, view, washer, kitchen, beds were all nice, the AC in 1 room didnt work, and the hot water in 1 of the restroom didnt work. The area where the apart was had just about everything you could want at your finger tips.
Over all we really enjoyed our stay in HCM due to the apartment and Lam. Shannon and I would like to say thank you Lam !!
Hi Ralph, I'm glad you and Shannon enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the feedback, we're addressing the items mentioned now and the aircon was just fixed today.
As I know you're aware, my Property Manager is available to all guests 24/7 to assist with airport transfers, lost taxi drivers by phone, suggestions for places to eat and daytrips outside of the city and much, much more. I know being away from home in a foreign country can sometimes be daunting and this is one of the ways I strive to make things easier for our guests.
Please come back and see us anytime, you're always welcome. Happy travels!
The condo was great! In a nice area of District 7 near the river with access to a huge pool, gym, and plenty of restaurants and small shops. Chris was prompt in responding to all of our needs and our stay here was the quietest and most restful of any nights in Saigon.
My fiance and I very much enjoyed our month-long stay at Chris' apartment. The place was neat, clean, basically well-furnished though there were a few things we felt we needed to make the kitchen more useful, none expensive. Lam, Chris' assistant and caretaker, was excellent about fixing the few things we needed seen to in a prompt, timely, efficient, and really friendly manner.
What we came--or especially I came, as my fiance lives in Saigon, and I live in San Francisco--came to really appreciate about the location is that we were living in a genuine Vietnamese (if middle/upper middle class) community, with lots of kids, people from all ages, and so on. We made extensive use of the nearby supermarket and the swimming pool. Also, within about a 3/4 mile or 15 minute walk was a genuine small market, a kind of miniature of Saigon's large one in the center of town. We shopped there a lot as well as at the Supermarket.
The apartment is rather out of the way, of course, in terms of being able to walk to any sights, tho' the market is itself a site as are the things vended along the way to it. However, taxis are cheap and always right there, downstairs from the apartment.
Having a washing machine on hand was totally useful, as well, and it was fun watching Vietnamese tv and even some of the MLB playoffs. Why Saigon doesn't get BBC when nearby Dalat does, however, is a mystery. We were on the 22nd floor but the elevators were very efficient. And there were two excellent restaurants below--but skip the Korean ones!
The main drawback is that the kitchen has no hot water, and in fact none of the three (including the two bathroom) sinks does. (And only 1 of the 2 showers does.) That makes it less hygienic when washing dishes, and we cooked a great deal. I was told that Vietnamese wash dishes in cold water, but I doubt there's anything cultural about that. I am sure the reason is that hot water is expensive. As Vietnam grows and prospers, I am sure all water outlets will have hot water. But the kitchen had plenty of storage space, including in the refrigerator, and the two-burner portable gas stove generated plenty of heat.
Our bedroom was actually a little cold but that be my inability to figure out how to properly adjust the air conditioner but we slept well nonetheless.
There were a couple of misunderstandings between us and Chris (whom unfortunately we never met), but as I am not sure these are generizeable (sp?) and as these were resolved satisfactorily, I won't bring these up.
I would definitely stay here again--I really liked the community atmosphere and being able to experience two different Vietnamese social strata-- tho' my fiance would prefer, when we return, to stay closer to the center of Saigon. In all, we had a wonderful time.
Chris was a fantastic host. The apt was clean, spacious and comfortable. We received a timely pickup from the airport, and were provided great suggestions for places to visit in Saigon. I was sick part of the trip and he helped me find some good OTC medicine for a sore throat and cough. Very conscientious.
Chris' apartment in HCM is not suitable for a family with a young child - which is how it was billed to us when we booked. We have done quite a few AirBnB places in Asia and I would say this one did not measure up to expectation.
The apartment is basic and the grounds are nice - though it is definitely far out of town. The challenge was the lack of air conditioning in the full apartment and only in one bedroom (it was a very hot weekend). The windows and balcony are hazardous to an inquisitive 5 year old and we didn't feel safe having them open to let in a breeze (though someone was BBQing above and ash was floating into the condo as well). It just did not make for a pleasant place to stay for 3 adults and a child with the heat.
The second bedroom was also just a mattress on the floor - and no air conditioning as well. It definitely is not a 2-bedroom condo - and should bot be billed as such. There were no towels and the sheets looked a bit worse for wear.
We ended up not staying at all and Chris was gracious in having us leave after I stated some of the issues.
All in all I don't think the condo is worth the value they are charging so far out of the city and it is definitely not family-friendly. For a bit more money we stayed in a great hotel in the city centre.
Hi Anjali, thanks for the feedback. Because of your suggestions and others, I am converting the home office to a second bedroom. The bed was just designed and ordered on Friday for a 26 August delivery and the aircon will be installed in that bedroom next week. All good news! :)
Regarding the location: most of our guests do a bit of research on the area or ask for details about the apartment, and the majority actually book the D7 location because of its quiet and green location and easy access to the city center. I don't consider a 12-15 minute bus($.025 usd) or taxi ($5) ride to Ben Thanh market "far out of the city", though it is well away from the crime, incessant honking and pollution.
I've just purchased new Egyptian cotton bed linens AND a new mattress because of your feedback, so thanks again!
