The apartment is located in a lane in Bandra. Its just a couple of minutes walk to a Bus and Taxi stand and basic amenities stores, restaurants, coffee shops. The local train station is 10 minutes away. It’s also very centrally located within the city. The International Airport is about 30-40 minute and the tourist areas of Colaba and South Mumbai are also about the same distance. Staying in Bandra is also convenient for people travelling on business as the business districts of Nariman Point in the south or those in the north - in Malad, Goregaon are about equidistant from here. And BKC is about 10 minutes away. I love my neighbourhood and will be happy to share tips to make your experience interesting and fun.
Bandra is one of the hippest and most vibrant areas of Mumbai. It is full of restaurants, bakeries, pubs, coffee shops, boutiques, old protected little village areas, churches, art spaces– all lovely to walk about and explore. There are also 3 different seaside promenades – Bandstand, Carter Road and Reclamation – each about 10 minutes walk away. It’s a lovely area and is quite the favourite with people looking to experience the vibrant Maximum city.
Mumbai has many things to offer all depending upon what you are looking for. Areas of South Mumbai like Colaba, Fort, Marine Drive, Kala Ghoda have a wonderful feel with heritage architecture surrounding you. There are museums, art galleries, restaurants like Samovar, Woodside inn or Chetna and Rajdhani for a Indian thali meal. A beer at Leopold and street shopping at Colaba Causeway is a cheap and cheerful way to spend a day. If you are looking for more upscale places there are many restaurants and boutiques in the area too where you will find eclectic cuisine and designer products with a unique India International feel. Visit the Elephanta and Kanheri caves for a glimpse of history. You can also go hiking and bird watching in the Sanjay Gandhi Nature Park in the North. There's also art and culture events - Kala Ghoda festival, Celebrate Bandra, Worli Festival and more.
India has many festivals and some are celebrated with great fervour in Mumbai - making them unique to the city - Janmashtmi (Dahi Handi), Eid, Mount Mary Feast, Ganesh Utsav, Navratri, Christmas. each one brings the city out with energy, colour, music, special food and celebration.
Welcome to Mumbai!

Sangeeta is wonderful. The appartment is very clean. It is beautiful decorated and best located.
I stayed there for 14 days and I really felt at home.
I've done a bit of travel on Airbnb, and this has so far been the best! Sangeeta is a wonderful host - I enjoyed meeting her, and like others have said here - I too feel like i've made a new friend. I really appreciated the extra effort she took to accommodate my dietary needs. The room and location were perfect, and khalla was a great cook. I felt very much at home - ended up staying twice, and would happily come back.
Amazing little apartment, with a lovely host and house maid who cooks some delicious breakfast and lunch. Looks exactly like the pictures - beautifully decorated and furnished. Convenient location. Would recommend friends to stay here if they were ever in Mumbai.
Sangeeta's home is beautiful, spotless, as shown in pictures but most important of all, it's my home away from home. It's located by Bandstand so I could walk everyday. There are lots of great restaurants and shops close by. Sangeeta is very warm and helpful. Although I have been in Mumbai 4 times she suggested great shopping places that I hadn't discovered. I will be back in Mumbai soon and I plan to stay at her place, my new home. Thank you Sangeeta for being a wonderful host:)
Sangeeta's apartment is delightful, and our room was so nice to come back to after a day's sightseeing, or just mooching around her neighbourhood. She recommended dozens of great places to go, cafes and restaurants to try, shops to visit, Bollywood films to see, and was always friendly, charming, helpful and generally the perfect Airbnb host!
Staying at Sangeeta's place is a treat, in *the* place to be in Bombay. First of all, Sangeeta is a very friendly host - nice, engaging and respectful of privacy. Khala is a wonderful live-in domestic employee who makes amazing food and pretty much took care of anything I needed during the day, including lunch if I was home midday, tea anytime, etc.
The flat is beautiful and airy, with lots of greenery in the windows that makes it like an oasis in the big city. The easy way to get to and from the place is to say 'Mehboob Studio' - and in fact there was a literary festival on the weekend I was there, and I went with Sangeeta to the closing event. Bandra is really the place to stay in Bombay - central, easy to get to transport, and with the Bandra-Worli Sealink, easy to get to South Bombay if the need arises. I found Sangeeta's to be a home away from home in this prime location.
I ended up staying for about a week, broken in two parts, and Sangeeta was the most gracious host, along with Khala. I had a very early morning departure, and just pulled the door shut after myself without waking anyone - that was the level of trust that we had developed in a short period of time.
Very strongly recommended, and definitely my prime place to stay in Bombay.
I can summarize my 3 night stay with Sangeeta in 3 words:
Enjoyable, wonderful, great.
The room and bathroom facilities were spotlessly clean as was the rest of the appartment.
Sangeeta's welcome was warm and friendly yet unobtrusive. Full freedom to come and go with one's own key to the flat.
Bandra West is indeed, one of the 'in' places in Mumbai.
I had the added bonus of arriving on a Saturday when Sangeeta was having a party to which I was invited. What better introduction to Mumbai than to meet a wide group of interesting and fun friends which Sangeeta has. Don't count on a party, however, this is only a once or twice a year event.
Kaleh, Sangeeta's help is an attentive cook adding little touches like a fresh bottle of water bedside in the evening.
Thanks Sangeeta. I now have a base in Mumbai for when I return.
I have a home in Mumbai, but stayed at Sangeeta's because I had work at Bandra. I'd hugely recommend this accommodation to anyone who's in Mumbai for work or vacay. It's clean, tidy, beautiful place (that's a mighty plus in this city!) and run very efficiently. It's nice that one gets a key of one's own so one can come and go as one pleases. The household help, Khaala, whips up divine cold coffee and is always available for any queries you have, as is Sangeeta. The location is safe, yet in the heart of the city's hippest neighborhood. I'd say it's the perfect blend of the efficiency of a hotel and the warmth of a friend's place, and will exponentially enhance your Mumbai experience!
Hey Aparna- I am so glad you came to stay and expect to see you again soon when there are any events at Bandra! And thanks for your book- I have started reading it and its really interesting. You forgot to sign it - so I will wait till I see you next to have it autographed!
My stay at Sangeeta's place was a delightful experience. She made me feel very welcome, explained how everything in the house works. The room was spotless and beautifully designed and the house is located in a prime location.
It was my first Airbnb experience and good one. I highly recommend staying with Sangeeta in Bandra.
