About this listing
This is another of our Lodge's rooms which we want to dedicate to airbnb. We're lucky to have stunning river and mountain views from most of our rooms and the tiny balcony is perfect for taking it all in. The room features two double beds and a private bathroom. You'll be on the lodge's private premises with its fantastic gardens and riverside walks to enjoy. Our restaurant "Andén" serves national and international dishes and we have contacts with adventure tourism specialists for those who want to get out and about.
A stay here is a chance to get away from the busy tours and tourist-traps that many find themselves in during a trip to the Cuzco region. It's such a beautiful country and the Sacred Valley is awe-inspiring, but many end up in the busy towns of Urubamba, Pisaq, Calca or Ollantaytambo, which, whilst they have their charms and sights, don't always offer peace and quiet.
We're lucky enough to have uninterrupted views of nature and our town's demographics (local farmers and tradesmen) means you get a more authentic slice of local life. You can pop to the local shop and get a drink or some fruit, chat to the ladies selling hot food on the roadside or just wander along the river among the eucalyptus trees.
We're ideally located, far enough from the crowds to make a stay here unique and private, but close enough to everything to make your stay convenient too. Everyone passing through the valley goes to Machu Picchu eventually and we're less than 45 minutes from the station.
Local taxis are very good and we have excellent contacts who can take you anywhere you want to go and even collect you from Cuzco airport if you wish. If you're more adventurous and feel like taking local transport you can catch a 'colectivo' to local towns and there's even a bus that will take you all the way to Cuzco for 4 soles. It really is amazing value and you can have some great conversations on the way depending on your level of Spanish.
We're not a large town so there are no supermarkets or bright lights, the night skies are stunningly crisp and clear and people who enjoy the sound of the wind and the river passing by will sleep like babies.
And if you're up for some adventure we have an excellent relationship with adventure tourism specialist Munaycha who can arrange kayaking, mountain-biking and horse-riding as well as traditional tours of local sites and Machu Picchu. Just let us know if that's something you'd be interested in and we'll arrange it for you.
We want people to feel at home here. We may be set in the grounds of a Lodge but the facilities are all available to you and they have the feel of a large hostal. We'd appreciate guests taking care of the carpets and fittings (especially if they're been walking outside in the fields) but generally it's a place to relax and enjoy the countryside and we hope you'll feel comfortable during your stay.
Amazing place. Beautiful grounds. You've gotta have breakfast in the morning as the sun rises over the mountains. Nothing like coffee and a nice view by the river.
When entering the drive of this boutique hotel an automatic calm washes over you. You are greeted by Andy, one of two that help to run the Qawana Lodge. He is so friendly and always available to help with whatever you need or want. His humor doesn't hurt either with making you feel welcomed. His wife Tatiana, who also helps run the lodge, is extremely gracious and speaks great English for those not fluent in Spanish. Her brother cooks the food which is fresh and definitely not from a can. Great food, the rooms and views are amazing and the staff is equally as great. Even the ice was made from bottled water so you do not have to worry about a thing. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful location with all the comforts of home. We felt as if we were staying with friends as opposed to a hotel. Wonderful!
