We used to live in Manhattan, and now we make Union City our home. Why? Larger apartments, as fast or faster to get into the city (faster than traveling on the express train from Harlem), and a great neighborhood vibe.
* Real home.
* Fast dependable wifi
* Private keypad code for you only, one key for building.
* 24/7 super easy access to Manhattan, buses go every 2 min, $3 per trip
* Walk home from bus or walk in neighborhood safely, very low crime area
* Supermarket, cafe con leche, fresh bread, pharmacy, fast food and sit down restaurants, city skyline view all in walking distance.
* Real beds for six people, two fold down futons for extras
* Can accommodate up to 11 people. It will be crowded with that many, but it's up to you!
We hope that you'll come stay with us and discover for yourself how crazy it is to be in a different state, but yet so close that it takes you only 15 minutes to get into Times Square.
Second floor apartment, so a set of stairs up from street. Apartment is on two levels - living space on bottom level with bedrooms upstairs. Not suited for people with limited mobility, as you have to be able to climb the stairs. Wide hallway in apartment.
FOR FAMILIES: Babies and kids are considered guests and are to be included in the guest count.
ABOUT PAYMENT: Many ask about the price and extra fees and how to pay. When you put in the dates and number of people you will get our total cost. There are no taxes on top of this, but AirBnB adds their fee. It varies between 6-12% on top of our price.
All the payments are safely made with credit card to AirBnB when booking. They hold the money until the day you check in and will then transfer it to us.
Bookings with us are done with the "strict" cancellation policy and all cancellations should be done through AirBnB. This being said, if we manage to re-rent the place the nights you have canceled we can give a bigger refund to you than what the strict cancellation policy dictates. The earlier you cancel the bigger the chance that we will find other guests.
To confirm that you have read the entire description, please include the secret word "rockefeller" in your inquiry to me.
Parking: There are three options for parking. 1) Covered municipal lot two blocks away, you can buy ticket for up to 72 hours at a time. 2) Street parking. This is tricky, as there are lots of meters around, so you’ll have to be very careful. Let us know if you decide to park on the street, as we’ll provide you with a visitor permit ($25 deposit, held until permit is returned 3) reserved parking spot across the street at our neighbors place, this is $10 per day.
We must ask that all guests checkout no later than 11am. We are happy to help you coordinate luggage storage in Manhattan if needed but we change our codes after check out time, and we need the time after checkout to prepare the house for the next guests.
Feel free to message me with any questions!
Self Catering Apartment. Laptop computer for guest use, dishwasher, fully air conditioned, small terrace at back for grilling.
Interaction with Guests
I'll welcome you and check in during your stay, but leave you alone to explore the city. Don't hesitate to call me if you need anything, I have lots of recommendations and am happy to help!
Our neighborhood is residential, well lit and has very low crime. Being very close to the Hudson River that separates it from Manhattan makes this a top location to enjoy Manhattan’s breathtaking skyline, day or night.
I regularly walk alone at night (even very late) and have never had a problem. The residential street is very well lit in the evenings.
About Transportation: I have received many questions from people who don't believe it possible to be outside of Manhattan and so close to it, yet it's true. Here are some facts about transportation:
1. Apartment is 5 minutes (5 blocks) from the 24/7 bus to Times Square and 1 block from the city bus #159 (stops at 1am).
2. The "chicken" bus is very frequent, I rarely wait for it more than 2 to 3 minutes. Most of the time you won't even wait at all. You will step to the bus stop and a bus will be there.
3. Buses are available 24/7 so you can catch them even when you spend the whole evening out.
4-The price of these express buses is $3 onboard, and $2.50 if you buy tickets at ticket window #23 at Port Authority Bus Terminal
5. You won't find these buses timetable or route on the internet, it's a private bus company that runs many lines in and out of Manhattan.
Other Things to Note
Lots of great dining options a few blocks away, including a number of BYOB places. Huge supermarket a 5 min walk away. Many smaller markets nearby.
All guests - including children, must be included in guest count.
This is a quiet building, and the stairwell can be quite loud. Please be extra quiet when returning at night.
No late check out
No smoking indoors
Deposit held and returned by AirBnB, not host
No housekeeping during stay unless prior arrangements made
No overnight guests, only guests on itinerary please.
Please carefully wash, dry and reshelf your dishes
Please throw away any food items that you've stored in the fridge before the end of your stay

Maria was so warm and always welcoming and answered all of our questions at all hours of the day. The place was so cosy and we felt at home. Very clean and tidy place and suited 8 of us quite well. The manual left on the table was great idea. Everything was perfect. Our flight was delayed due to the snow storm and Maria was so generous and helped us ride out the storm. The apartment was only 20 mins from the city and 20-30 mins from Jersey Gardens Mall which was a great place to shop. Best out of Vegas, LA and New York. Thank you so much Maria -oh and we got to see snow for the first time and so much of it too.
Fantastic place to stay would highly recommend for people wanting to be close to Times Square. Clean, Funky and it had everything including a laptop so you could keep in contact with family and friends. Maria and her husband went above our expectations even letting us drop our bags off even though the the townhouse was not ready for us as we arrived early. I hope to stay there again next time i visit New York.
Hi Maria! Thank you for giving us a home faraway from our home in Germany. Everything was great and we loved your Apartment. Thanks a lot and have a merry christmas. Regards Rita
The host was excellent! She had some food items available for breakfast the next morning and quickly responded to messages. This is an amazing apartment with all the amenities; I loved the heated bathrooms! The photos here are a nice reflection of the true look and feel of the apartment.
The closest store/pharmacy in walking distance closes a little before 10pm so plan accordingly.
We've already decided to book this place the next time we come back to NYC!
We loved Maria's apartment, absolutely fantastic. It was like the description and we loved the view of Manhattan (spectacular!) that is so easy to walk to from the apartment. We took a cab from Laguardia to get to Union City, which cost us 120 dollars. We should have taken the cab to the 42nd street from the airport and then take the bus.. that would have been cheaper, but we chose the easy (and more expensive) way. Overall a wonderful experience!

We have a number of listings, so please take a look at all of our places for availability. Each of our listings has very easy access into Times Square - we are big advocates of our local bus service which we call the "chicken bus". Buses run every 5 min, 24/7 to Times Square. Take a look at our guest reviews to see what travelers say about getting in and out of NYC. We are not agents, my husband, Jay and I take care of guests full time!
We are Canadians living in the US, and are well traveled ourselves and know how important a good nights sleep is while you're away.
We will make sure that you are comfortable here.
