About This Listing
Lovely 3 bedroom 2 bath, extremely clean, private and quiet. Perfect for the long stay traveler, or those who are relocating to Maui. Monthly rental only.
We are currently only renting our cottage on a monthly basis and prefer long term rentals (3+ months)
This 3 bedroom 2 bath guest cottage was recently redone with granite countertops, newly tiled master bathroom, laminate and tile flooring throughout.
The cottage overlooks a large gulch in Haiku and on rainy days you will be blessed with incredible rainbows over the area. The property is 2 acres in total, although 1 acre is accessible by a trail only. The upper ½ of the property is easily accessible and has bananas, avocados and papayas that you are welcome to when available. We also have a small organic vegetable garden growing that you can help yourself to. If you choose to adventure down to the lower ½ of the property there is a year-round stream, orange trees, guava, loquats and more avocados.
The cottage was completed with our parents in mind; this is their home away from home and ask that it is treated this way with all guests. We rent the cottage out when they are off island, all persona l items are removed prior to renting it. The kitchen is well stocked, and should have most everything one needs to make a gourmet meal. The furniture is comfortable and modern, and there are extra linens for your use. The master bedroom has a king bed, with an attached master bath with his and her sinks. There is a queen bed in the second bedroom and a twin bunk bed in the third bedroom. We also have a pack n play and high chair available.
Our property is located in Haiku only 5 minutes from Makawao. Our location makes it easy to access Hana highway or Haleakala Highway, and it is a quick drive to Paia, Makawao and Haiku town center for boutique shops, restaurants, groceries and the beach.
For more information please send an email.
Seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables from our organic garden.
Interaction with Guests
We try to give tenants their space and provide as much privacy as possible. We live in the main house and are always available for questions.
It is typically very quiet. Feels very rural, but only 5 minutes to Makawao
requires a car
Please no heavy partying...Although our neighbors are far away we want to keep them happy. We ask that you respect the place, and if something is damaged or needs to be repaired let us know.
We had a great time staying in this lovely house. The contemporary interior is tastefully decorated with art and we had the impression we were staying at a very nice hotel. Our party of five adults were comfortable and we had plenty of room and privacy. The place is well equipped with washer and dryer, two bathrooms and wifi. We enjoyed the location as well, in this quiet neighborhood in upcountry Maui. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the towns and tourist areas, though close to Paia and Makawao where there are plenty of eateries and shops.
Do follow Marsha's directions to get there since the roads have a lot of twists and turns and sometimes confuses GPS systems. We used old fashioned printed maps as well but they only showed the main roads for this part of Maui. I would suggest when arriving for the first time, to do so during the day since there are no lights at night.
Marsha and Travis are very helpful and discreet. We arrived on Christmas Day and they had offered to get us groceries and found us stores that were open.
Travis and Marsha were great hosts. Super friendly but also very careful to give us our privacy. They knew we were arriving with a toddler and had toys, books, and a high chair already setup in the house for us - which was awesome. They even shared vegetables with us out of their garden. We had what seemed like an endless supply of avocados and bananas. If you like the Haiku/Makawao area - this is a great place with some great hosts. Highly recommended. Thanks Travis and Marsha.
Marsha e Travis are a great couple! They are kind, helpful and it has been a pleasure to spend some time with them. Their place is quiet, clean, confortable and beautiful, and for real it looks even better that from the pictures. I can say only positive things about Marsha, Travis and their place. If you want to experience the beauty, peace and magic of Maui, this is the place for you!
We loved both the home and Marsha and Travis. They were super hosts and we have made new friends.
The home is beautiful, with everything needed to be a home away from home and has great views. Excellently located.
Our family really appreciated our time there.
The home was perfect for us - a family of 4 - although we could have been larger as the 3 roomed space would have handled it. The place was really well equipped and spacious with a gorgeous open plan kitchen/dining/relaxing area and elevated ceilings. The view towards the sea from the deck was tranquil and lush. Marsha and Travis were very friendly and informative. Nearby Makawao has a fabulous steak restaurant and the beaches around Paia were great for family hang outs.
Very charming place to stay. Some what secluded like, so was a little bit of a drive. Bed, couch was very comfortable. Enjoyed the green scenery. Marsha and Travis were very nice hosts. Would stay there again.
My wife and I and another couple recently styed at Travis and Marsha's place on Maui. It is beautifully furnished, spacious and clean. We were there to attend a convention. Instead of having to go out to eat, we were able to enjoy all our meals in the relaxing atmosphere at "home" in the vacation rental. We made good use of the large kitchen and outside gas barbeque grill. If we ever go back to Maui, we will definitely check to see if we can stay there again.
About the Host, Marsha And Travis
We love living in Haiku and feel our place is a little gem and the perfect place to raise our son. We love the idea of being able to share the "real Maui" with our family, friends and travelers. When we are not working, we are outdoors either gardening or playing at the beach.
