The Space

Ideal for short, medium and long stays. New apartment in entirely restored 18th Century building Casa Borda 20 meters off Madero Street - Built by wealthy miner from Taxco to compete against the house of Cortez. Most secure area in the City.
If the studio is not available, please check out my other listings. Same building, same quality, same satisfaction.
Only 10 apartments in building, high ceilings and thick walls, cool neighbors, high security – card access to building.
Location - Interior apartment 30 meters of Madero Street between Zocalo and Bellas Artes.
Less than 5 minute walk to different public transportation systems.
Next to must see sites in Mexico City.
Next to some of the best value for money restaurants and shops in the city, all budgets.
On top of grocery store and walking distance to the mercados.
15 min walk to Reforma Av. (financial district) and 40 min walk to other hip neighborhoods and direct subway line to Coyoacan/San Angel.
Fully equipped kitchen, nice to receive friends (table fits up to 4), ventilated and cozy.
King size bed / closet / black out curtains / book shelf with nice books, CD's DVD’s and nice things, to make the best out of your stay, TV and DVD, but no cable.
Art work on walls.
Best WIFI available, laundry facilities within building, and free access to common areas of building (Terrace, patios, BBQ, motorbike and bike parking, etc...) we also have 2 ok bikes to lend you.
Comfortable ventilated bathroom with shower.
I was born and mostly raised in Mexico; I enjoy living and working in Downtown and will be glad to introduce you to the magic of Mexico City.
Feel comfortable to write to me if you need anything in particular, I might be able to get it for you. Enjoy your journey.

Guest Access

Guests are aloud to walk around the house and use common areas of building (Terraces, patios and bike parking) and can wash and dry their clothes in the shared laundry room.

Interaction with Guests

I live in the same building and work around the neighborhood. I do like to interact with guests but have a clear understanding of privacy. I usually check in guests and sometimes greet goodbye. I am always available through the system or by phone on short notice.

The Neighborhood

The Centro Historico is up and running, though vibrant it is statistically the safest neighbourhood in the City, its is named after its historical position and its colonial period buildings and monuments, like the main plaza Zocalo, the Templo Mayor pyramids, the Murals, the Torre Latinoamericana, and some of Mexico’s finest historic and contemporary museums. Clean and safe, close to grocery stores and great places to eat out, like the gourmet market of San Juan, traditional Mexican and International restaurants and taquerias/cantinas, all budgets. Enjoy a morning run or night walk in the recently restored Alameda park.

Getting around

Two blocks away to major transportation systems like the Metrobus and the Subway to move around the city to the airport, bus stations and other neighboring colonias such as Condesa, Roma, Polanco and Coyoacan.
From the airport: I recommend a Taxi (20USD and 40 min) an alternative is public transit, Metrobus, stop Bellas Artes then 5 min walk (4USD per person and 35 min), which is clean, fast and new.
To Condesa and Roma Metrobus or taxi: 25 minute ride there and vice versa.
To Coyoacan and Bus terminals: Subway different direct lines.
To Reforma (financial district): 20 minute walk by the Alameda park and up and down the avenue with the bus or subway.
Teotihuacan pyramids: subway to bus station and then bus to the pyramids or through a tour operator.

  • Juan Carlos was responsive to our inquiries and was present when we arrived to help us gain access and show us around. The unit was in a nice location, very centrally located. The wi-fi worked quite well. We had a little difficulty with the washer/dryer, but we expect that will be resolved in the future. All in all, an excellent stay.

  • Very nice apartment. It was exactly as expected based on the photos. Located very centrally and very easy to reach the metro and the bus to the airport.

  • Juan Carlos was a great host. He made it clear he was available 24/7 should any needs arise. Casa Borda is an incredible space. Old architecture with modern conveniences. Centro Historico is literally just outside the building's entrance. We would return with no hesitation.

  • We loved staying here! The building is beautiful and the studio was great for our needs, including kitchen utensils, fridge, bench top grill and stove top, kettle and coffee maker. This studio perfect for a couple. The washing machine and dryer were very handy too.
The location was perfect! We were within walking distance to all the main city attractions, there are walking streets near by, great restaurants and honestly this place feels very safe. I was a bit nervous about Mexico City and was surprised just how safe it was, I walked around by myself at different times during the day and night without my husband and was fine.
JC was a perfect host! His communication from the start was great and was easy to contact during our stay, he greeted us at the studio and showed us around and how things worked. There is a guide he has made which is fabulous, We enjoyed every restaurant we went to on his recommendation and he came to see us off at the end of our stay. Highly recommend staying in this studio!
Thanks JC we really enjoyed our stay! Michelle & Tris

  • A wonderful studio in a spectacular building. I definitively will stay there again in my next visit to Mexico City. Juan Carlos was very help.... we took his advise and used the metrobus to return to the airport and it was cheap, safe and fast.

  • My husband and I, very much, enjoyed our stay at this beautifully re-finished apartment in Casa Borda, Mexico City. In the very centre of a big city, you enter a quiet courtyard and your tastefully decorated private quarters. All rooms face the inner courtyard and not the busy street outside. An elevator is provided for accessing upper floors.

There is a very good printed information guide giving details of neighbouring grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and nightlife.

Much better than staying at a noisy, stuffy old hotel.

  • The apartment was exactly as described- beautiful, clean, and quiet. Juan Carlos was very attentive, asking if we needed anything else.
The location was also perfect, right in the Centro Historico, and the other residents were friendly.
We would definitely recommend this space, and stay here again.

  • Staying at Casa Borda made my vacation to Mexico City memorable and relaxing. The central location is perfect for taking day trips anywhere in the area. Behind the big wooden door of this renovated palace it is peaceful, subduing the chaos of the city on the other side. The studio was very comfortable with all the modern comforts and the kitchen is perfect for planning your day over some tea and breakfast.
Juan is a warm, friendly and professional host. He has even (email hidden) to help you find your way on public transit, locate nearby restaurants and tips for making your trip more enjoyable. The local coffee shop right next to the place is fantastic and convenient, too.
The only thing that I would warn against is that there is construction happening next door and it was really loud at times, starting at 8 am and ending around 6 pm. It really was not a big deal since we were out and about most days, but if you are a light and late sleeper, it might be annoying.

  • Juan Carlos' lovely apartment in Centro Historico was just about perfect. It was located close to everything whether it was cofee or tacos (just downstairs) or the metro station. The apartment is well outfitted with all necessities and extremely clean. The building provides a sanctuary in the hustle and bustle of city life and it was always such a welcoming place to come back to after exploring D.F.
Juan Carlos himself is an exceptional host and he not only welcomed us in person upon arrival, but was available and easy to reach throughout our stay. I would highly recommend Juan Carlos' apartment to anyone visiting Mexico City.

  • Great location and quiet setting in the middle of the Centro Historico. Juan Carlos was very considerate of my needs and was available if I needed anything. The apartment was well-equipped and the bed was comfortable. A great experience!
